Footnotes

  • 1. This is the older form of the place name Tremeirchion, Flints. (Thomas 1 400). The ch. of Tremeirchion formed part of the endowment of the preb. of Faenol (Valor IV 440).
  • 2. Gruffudd ab Ieuan Grath must have held the precentorship as the 'canonry of Thomas the priest' was the name given to a subdivision of the township of Faenol which was appropriated to the precentorship. The canonry was included under that dignity in the Taxatio of 1291: 'Canonia Thome Presbyteri in Parochia ipsius Ecclesiae' (Faenol) (Thomas 1 422).
