First occ. as can. prob. 27 Nov. 1245 (Cal. I 123), otherwise 22 Aug. 1246 (ibid. p. 126). Occ. several times. Also bp.'s clerk, faculty to hold two benefices 25 Apr. 1249 (CPL I 254 = Reg. Innoc. IV no. 4465). Last occ. 23 May 1249 (below, app. 3 no. 35 D). D. as this preb. before 5 Oct. 1252, when preb. was leased at farm (Cal. I 130). His chantry at altar of St Mary Magdalene (ibid. II 107, 113, 263; cf. ibid. p. 628 (no. 373) = I 153; Dean Cosyn pp. 17-18). Perhaps to be identified with Alexander can. of Wells whose unnamed brother was at papal Curia Jan. 1246 (Cal. I 130). Possibly related to Richard de Bamfeld, prebs. Dinder and Wedmore V (lists 36, 61).
