Agreement of 8 July 1235: advowson to remain for ever with knights Sir Thomas Mauduit and Sir Nicholas Avenel, saving portion of 30m to be assigned in certain places in parish of Warminster for a preb. of Wells to a clerk to be coll. by bp. of Bath and Wells and pres. to bp. of Salisbury (Cal. I 366).

Occ. holding preb. in Salisbury dioc., doubtless this preb., in dispute with chapter over subsidy from prebs. to free Wells cath. of debts 4 Dec. 1248 (ibid. p. 82). Also preb. of Salisbury by 2 Dec. 1245 (1 Fasti IV 90); preb. of Lincoln by 25 March 1247 (ibid. III 76). Papal disp. before 22 Aug. 1241, though illegitimate, to receive a dignity; another 8 Nov. 1247 to receive a bpric. (CPL I 238 = Reg. Innoc. IV no. 3405).
