BISHOPS OF NORWICH

(originally Elmham and Thetford)

In 1066 the diocese which comprised Norfolk and Suffolk had its cathedral at NorthElmham (Norfolk). Arfast moved the see to Thetford in 1071, and attempted unsuccessfully to move to Bury St. Edmunds. In 1094 or 1095 the see was moved to Norwichby Herbert Losinga. (fn. 1)
