FOR and in respect of every License to be taken out by the person who shall keep or use any Stage Coach, for the purpose of conveying passengers for hire to or from any place or places in Great Britain; that is to say, for every such Stage Coach |

And for and in respect of each and every mile which any and every such Stage Coach shall be respectively licensed to travel, the several sums following; (that is to say) |
Duty per Mile. |
If such Stage Coach shall be licensed to carry not more than four passengers |

And if such Stage Coach shall be licensed to carry more than twenty passengers, then for every three additional passengers exceeding twenty, which such Stage Coach shall be licensed to carry, the additional Duty of |

And where such excess above twenty shall not be exactly three, or a multiple of three, then such additional Duty of one Halfpenny shall be payable also for any number of such excess being less than three, or progressively less than any multiple of three, which such Stage Coach shall be licensed to carry: |

Provided always, That where any such Stage Coach as aforesaid shall be drawn by four horses or more, the number of passengers for the carrying of which such Stage Coach shall be licensed shall be reckoned, exclusive of the coachman or driver, and also exclusive of the guard, if there shall be a guard; but in all other cases, the number of passengers shall be reckoned, exclusive of the coachman or driver only: |

Provided also, That no child under seven years of age, shall be reckoned in the number of passengers mentioned in any such License as aforesaid, unless there shall be more than one such child; and if there shall be more than one such child, then two of such children shall be counted as one passenger, and so on in the same proportion. |

FOR and in respect of every License to be taken out yearly by every person who shall let any Horse for hire in Great Britain

And for and in respect of every Horse let for hire by the mile, at the usual rate charged for Horses travelling post, at any place in Great Britain at which such Horse shall be let for hire; (that is to say) for every mile such Horse shall be hired or used to travel or go |

And for and in respect of every Horse let for hire to go no greater distance than eight miles from the place of letting |
One-fifth part of the sum charged for such letting; or, in lieu thereof, |

And for and in respect of every Horse let for hire to go no greater distance than eight miles from the place of letting, where such Horse shall not bring back any person for hire, and shall not deviate from the usual line of road between the place of letting and the place or distance to which such Horse shall be hired to travel or go |

And for and in respect of every Horse let for hire, or used for any period of time less than twenty-eight successive days, or in any other manner than by the mile, or to go no greater distance than eight miles |
One-fifth part of the sum charged or received, or agreed to be received on every such letting for hire or using. |

And also, for and in respect of every Horse let for hire for twenty-eight successive days, or for any longer period of time, where any such Horse shall be returned in a less period of time than twenty-eight successive days, and shall not be exchanged for another horse in continuation of the same hiring |
Or, in lieu of such last-mentioned one-fifth part of such sum, the following Duties for every day such Horse shall be let for hire or used, or shall (by virtue of any such letting) have been under the direction of the person to whom the same shall be hired; (that is to say) |
