Debt to Peck, &c.

ORDERED, That Colonel Jones do carry to the Lords the Orders of this House concerning Mr. Peck, and Lancelot Emot.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Swanton, a Member of this House, have Leave to go into the Country.

Perry's Claims.

The humble Petition of Lieutenant Colonel Samuell Perry, Governor of the Town and Castle of Taunton, was read.

Ordered, That it be referred to the late Commissioners for the Militia, in the County of Somerset, or any Three of them, to examine the Debt of Four hundred Eightythree Pounds, demanded, as disbursed by the Petitioner, for Payment of the Soldiers in the Garison at Taunton; and that what they shall find to remain due to the Petitioner, be paid unto the said Samuell Perry, or his Assignees, out of the Money remaining in the Hands of any Person in that County, upon the Assessment raised for the last Militia, or any other Militia within the said County; and the Acquittance of the said Samuell Perry, testifying the Receipt of the said Money, or any Part thereof, shall be a sufficient Discharge to such Person or Persons, as shall pay the same: And it is further ordered, that the Garison of the Town and Castle of Taunton, and the Soldiers there, be forthwith discharged.

Restoring Marquis of Ormond.

A Bill for settling on James Lord Marquis of Ormond, and his Heirs, all his Manors, Lands, and Tenements, whereof he hath been dispossessed, since the 23th of October 1641, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto Mr. Annesley, Mr. Serjeant Glyn, Lord Angier, Mr. Serjeant Hales, Sir Wm. Lewis, Sir John Lowther, Sir Edward Turner, Earl of Kildare, Mr. Thurland, Sir John Temple, Sir Henage Finch, Sir Geo. Browne, Sir John Holland, Sir Geo. Savill, Lord Spencer, Mr. Rich, Sir Francis Gerrard, Lord Bruce, Sir Geo. Booth, Sir Solomon Swale, Lord Richardson, Mr. Perrepont, Sir Robt. Pye, Sir Launcelot Lake, Mr. Pryn, Sir Gilbt. Gerrard, Sir Walter Earle, Mr. Hele, Sir Christopher Clapham, Sir Anthony Irby, Mr. Hyde, Col. Jones, Sir Tho. Wharton, Sir Henry Oxenden, Col. West, Mr. Knightley, Sir Dudley North, Sir Ralph Bancks; and are to meet To-morrow at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber, and so de die in diem.

Privilege.

Ordered, That who arrested Walter Curtis, one of the Serjeant's Deputies, at the Suit of Thomas Blunt, be forthwith discharged, and set at Liberty.

Cirencester Election.

Sir Edmund Turner reports from the Committee for Privileges and Elections, the Case upon the Election for the Borough of Cirencester in the County of that, upon Examination of the Fact, it appeared to the Committee that * Powell Esquire, who is returned in the same Indenture with * Masters Esquire, concerning the Validity of whose Election there is no Question, had a greater number of Voices, than Mr. * George the Petitioner; and that therefore they were of Opinion, the said Mr. Powell is duly elected, and ought to sit in this House.

Resolved, That this House doth agree with the Committee, that Mr. Powell is duly chosen, and do sit in this House.

St. Michell's Election.

He also reports from the said Committee, the Case upon the Election for the Borough of St. Michells in the County of Cornewall; that, upon Examination of the Fact, it appeared to the Committee, that the Question was, whether the Right of Election belongs to the Commonalty at large, or to the Twenty-four claimed by Custom, consisting of Two Elizors, nominated by the Lord of the Manor; and Twenty-Two of the Freemen chosen by the said Elizors; which Twenty-four the Committee were of Opinion, had the Right of Election: And that * Cary Esquire, who is returned by Indenture as one of the Burgesses for the said Borough, had a greater Number of Voices than Mr. Humphrey Burlace the Petitioner; and that therefore the said Mr. * Cary is duly chosen, and ought to sit in this House.

Resolved, That this House doth agree with the Committee, that Mr. * Cary, having the Plurality of Voices, is duly elected, and do sit in this House.

Book of Rates.

The House resumed the Debate upon Alterations of the Book of Rates.

The Particulars in the Letter A, for Goods outward, were read; and, on the Question, agreed unto.

Resolved, That a Rate be laid upon Corn imported.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee to whom the Rate upon wrought Silks was referred by an Order of Yesterday, to consider what Rate will be fit to be laid on Corn imported; and to report it to this House: And Col. King, Mr. Lucy, Sir Ralph Bancks, Sir John Bradshaw, Col. Willoughby, Mr. Yong, Sir Geo. Booth, Mr. Ellison, Sir Wm. Vincent, Sir John Northcot, Sir Ralph Ashton, Mr. Proby, Sir Henry Chomley, Sir Trevor Williams, Col. West, Mr. Saville, are added to the same Committee.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee to consider and offer to the House what they shall think fit, concerning the Exportation of the several Commodities of the Breed, Manufacture, and Growth of this Kingdom, mentioned in a late pretended Act.

The Particulars under the Letter B were read: and the Four first and last were, on several Questions, agreed unto.

Resolved, That there be no Alteration in the Rates of woolen Cloths.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider what Rates are fit to be set on foreign Manufactures of Wool imported; as also what's fit to be done in the Case of Wool exported.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider what's fit to be laid on foreign Vessels coming into the Ports of this Kingdom in respect of Lights and Anchorage; and to make Report therein to the House.

The Particulars under the Letter C. were read.

Resolved, That the former Rate upon Calves Skins do stand unaltered.

Resolved, That the Rate upon Canvas, and all Sorts of Linnen, fine or coarse, of the Manufacture of this Kingdom, exported, be Six-pence upon every Piece not exceeding Forty Yards.

The Alteration concerning Cheese exported, was agreed unto.

Resolved, That the former Rates of Custom for Sea Coals, exported by Strangers, do stand unaltered.

Resolved, That this House doth agree to the Alteration brought in of the Rates for Sea Coals, exported by English in English built Bottoms.
