Heron's Petition.

A PETITION of Sir Henry Heron, Knight of the Bath, was read.

Resolved, &c. That this Petition be referred to the Consideration of the same Committee to whom the Bill for satisfying a just Debt, due to Colonel Richard Kirkby, was committed: And that Sir William Killigrew, Sir Richard Braham, and Mr. Stanley, be added to the Committee.

Act of Oblivion, &c.

A Bill to explain the Act of Oblivion, for Relief of Creditors, in relation to Outlawries, and Forfeitures of Debts, was read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read the Second time on Monday Morning next.

Bricks and Tiles.

A Bill for the true Making of Brick and Tile, was read the Second time.

Navy Debt.

Ordered, That the Report concerning the Victuallers of the Navy, be heard on Monday Morning next.

Ways and Means.

Sir Philip Warwick reports from the Committee to which it was referred to bring in a Medium of Wales, That the Committee had met, and agreed a Medium: Which he delivered in at the Clerk's Table.

London Assessment.

Mr. Pepis reports from the Committee to whom the Difference between the City of London and the City of Westminster, concerning St. Martyn's Le Grand, Whether it is chargeable to pay their Tax with the City of London, or Liberty of Westminster; .... having, according to Order, met the Nineteenth Day of December 1664, and sent for Persons, Papers, and Records, examined the Matter of Fact; and find, by the Subsidy Books belonging to the City of London, it to be as followeth:

That St. Martyn's Le Grand, and St Leonard Parish, in the Ward of Aldersgate, were taxed in the Subsidy in London, in the High Book for Lands, in the Year 1585, 1587, 1591, 1594, 1598, 1599, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1604, 1606, 1607, 1608, 1609, 1610.

In their Low Books, 1620, 1624, 1625.

And in primo Car. I^ml. 4° Car. I. 4° Car. I.

And to the Royal Subsidy in both, the Payments thereof, 1640, 1641, 1642.

And to the Ship Money Tax, 17th December 10 Car. I. and 10th of December 1634.

The City of Westminster shewed, that St. Martyn's Le Grand had paid to Westminster the Eighteen Months Tax, and the Four last Subsidies, only.

It was agreed by the City of Westminster, that the Inhabitants of St. Martyn's Le Grand were rated in London in all Rates, except the Eighteen Months Tax, and the Four last Subsidies, which was paid to Westminster.

No Proof at all made of any other Taxes paid by St. Martyn's Le Grand to Westminster.

The Question being put, To agree with the Committee in the Report; and that St. Martyn's Le Grand ought to pay their Taxes with the City of London;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

And then the House resolved into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed on the Bill for the King's Supply.

Sir Robert Atkins reports, That the Committee of the whole House had gone through the Bill for his Majesty's Supply; and had made some Amendments, which he was ready to report to the House.

Bills from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Just. Lewyn and Sir Mondeford Brampston;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have sent you down Two Bills: The one intituled, An Act to enable Henry Lord Loughborough to make the River and Sewer navigable, from or near Bristow Causey in the County of Surrey, into the River of Thames; and the other intituled, An Act to enable Trustees for the Lord Strangford to sell Lands, for Payment of Debts: To both which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

And have also commanded us to acquaint you, That they do concur with this House in the Bill of Sir Edw. Hungerford, without any Alteration.

London Petition.

The House being informed, That the Sheriffs of London attended at the Door of the House, gave Command they should be called in.

And, being called in to the Bar of the House, they did acquaint Mr. Speaker, That the Lord Mayor and the City of London had commanded them to attend the House with a Petition from the City; which they humbly desired might be read, and taken into Consideration.

And the Sheriffs being withdrawn;

The Question being put, That the Petition be read;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

And the Petition was accordingly read.

And the Sheriffs being again called in to the Bar of the House; Mr. Speaker did acquaint them, That the House had heard their Petition read; and would, in due Time, take the same into further Consideration.

Supply Bill.

Ordered, That the Report of Sir Robert Atkins, from the Committee of the whole House for his Majesty's Supply, be heard upon Monday Morning next, at Ten of the Clock.
