Court of Assurance.

A BILL for Additions to the Act concerning the Court of Assurance, was this Day read the Second time.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the same be committed to Mr. Smith, Sir Allan Broderick, Mr. Bulteele, Mr. William Sandys, Mr. Clarke, Sir Thomas Allen, Sir Clifford Clifton, Sir Robert Atkins, Mr. William Coventry, Mr. Chetwind, Sir Thomas Lee, Mr. Jay, Mr. Goodrick, Mr. Knight, Sir Thomas Gore, Mr. Anthony Eyre, Mr. Rigby, Mr. Jolliffe, Sir Richard Braham, Mr. Crouch, Mr. Kirkby, Sir Anthony Irby, Sir William Lowther, Mr. Streete, Mr. Henry Coventry, Mr. Jones, Sir John Brampston, Sir Lancelot Lake, Mr. Heath, Attorney of the Duchy, Sir Richard Ford, Sir Henry North, Sir Thomas Bludworth, Mr. Churchill, Colonel Phillips, Sir Solomon Swale, Sir Phillip Musgrave, Colonel Gilby, Mr. Orme, Sir Richard Ford, Sir Robert Holt, Mr. Spry, Sir Francis Clarke: And all the Merchants that are Members of this House are to have Voices at the said Committee: And they are to meet on Thursday next, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon: And to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Hackney Coaches.

Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Bill for regulating Hackney Coaches is committed, be revived; and sit on Thursday next, in the Afternoon, at the Place formerly appointed.

Poor Relief.

A Bill for the Regulating, Employing, and Providing for the Poor, was this Day read the First time.

Resolved, That this Bill be read again, the Second time, on Thursday next.

Bills from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Thomas Bennett and Sir Toby Woolrich, Two of the Masters of Chancery;

Mr. Speaker, the Lords have commanded us to return a Bill to you, to enable Anthony Ettrick to sell Lands to pay his Debts, with some small Amendments: To which they desire your Concurrence: And have sent you Two other Bills; viz. One for naturalizing Philadelphia, Wife of the Right Honourable Thomas Lord Wentworth; and the other, for discharging the Manor of Stogscombe, and other Manors in Devon, from a Trust of One hundred and Fifty Years, unto the Earls of Exeter, Bridgwater, and Bullingbrooke: Whereto they likewise desire your Concurrence: And do also desire this House to expedite the Bill against melting down Silver.

Coinage.

An ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, against the melting down the Silver Coin of this Realm, was this Day read the First time.

Resolved, That the same be read again the Second time.

Highways.

Amendments reported to the Bill for repairing and maintaining the Highways, were this Day read the First time.

Resolved, That these Amendments be read again, the Second time, and taken into Debate, on Friday next.

Ordered, That before the Second reading of these Amendments, the Bill for the Highways in and near the Cities of London and Westminster, be called for; and read.

Militia.

And then the House resolved into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed in the Debate of the Militia; and to take into Consideration such Proposals as should be offered, for preventing of present Dangers, and securing the Peace of the Kingdom.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the House do again resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, on Friday next, to resume the said Debate.

Resolved, upon the Question, That all Committees, that should have sat this Afternoon, be adjourned till Thursday next, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon; and do then sit in the Places formerly appointed.

And then the House adjourned till Thursday Morning at Eight of the Clock.
