Tuesday, 12th June, 1660.

Writs to be issued.

ORDERED, That new Writs be issued for the Election of Burgesses to serve in this present Parliament, for the several and respective Boroughs after named; that is to say, for the Election of one Burgess to serve for the Borough of Whitchurch in the County of Southampton, in the Place of Robert Wallop Esquire, who is discharged by this House from being a Member of this House: For the Election of a Burgess to serve for the Borough of Northallerton in the County of Yorke, in the Place of Francis Lascells Esquire, who is discharged by this House from being a Member of this House: For the Election of one Burgess to serve for the Town of Nottingham, in the Place of Colonel John Hutchinson, who is discharged by this House from being a Member of this House: And that Mr. Speaker do send his Warrants to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, to prepare new Writs for Election of Burgesses to serve for the said Town and Boroughs, as aforesaid: And the Lord Chancellor of England is authorized and required to issue and pass the said Writs under the Great Seal of England in his Custody accordingly.

Tiverton Writ.

Mr. Bampfeild, being elected to serve in this present Parliament for the City of Exceter, and also for the Borough of Tiverton in the County of Devon, makes his Election to serve for the City of Exceter, and waves his Election for the Borough of Tiverton.

Ordered, That a new Writ be issued for the Election of a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Tiverton in the Place of Mr. Bampfeild, who hath made his Election to serve for the City of Exceter; and that Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, to prepare a Writ for Election of a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the said Borough, as aforesaid: And the Lord Chancellor of England is authorized and required to issue and pass the same under the Great Seal in his Custody accordingly.

Queen's Jointure.

Ordered, That Mr. James Herbert, and Sir John Bowyer, be added to the Committee for the Queen's Jointure.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Orme, a Member of this House, have the Leave of this House to go into the Country.

Camilford Election.

Mr. Turner makes Report from the Committee for Privileges and Elections, on the double Return for the Borough of Camilford in the County of Cornwall; that, upon Examination of the Fact, the Committee were of Opinion the Poll was not duly taken; and that the former Election of the Burgesses, returned to serve in this present Parliament for the said Borough, is void.

Resolved, That this House doth agree with the said Committee, that the said former Election of Burgesses returned to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Camilford aforesaid, be, and hereby is, declared void; and that a new Writ be issued for a new Election accordingly; and that Mr. Speaker do send his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, to prepare a Writ to be issued, as aforesaid: And the Lord Chancellor of England is authorized and required to issue and pass a Writ under the Great Seal in his Custody accordingly.

Poll Bill.

Sir Wm. Wheeler reports from the Committee, a Bill for Poll Money; which was read the First time.

Resolved, That this Bill be read the Second time on Thursday next.

Captives in Turkey.

The humble Petition of divers Persons, in the Behalf of themselves, who have suffered, and of others whose Relations do now suffer, miserable Bondage, and cruel Slavery, under the Turks, was read.

Ordered, That the said Petition be committed to the Committee of this House, to whom the Consideration of Discoveries of Monies, concealed from the Publick, is referred.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider of the Case of the Lord Incheqin, and his Son, now in Captivity under the Turks; and to take the best Care they can for their Relief.

Ordered, That Mr. Annesley be desired humbly to recommend to the King's Majesty's Consideration the sad Condition of the Lord Incheqin, and his Son, being now in Captivity under the Turks; and also to represent their Cases to the King's Majesty's Privy Council, with the Desire of this House, that some effectual Course may be taken for their speedy Redemption and Relief.

Customs and Excise.

Ordered, That the Committee, to whom the Bill for Customs and Excise is referred, do meet this Afternoon: And the Members of this House, who are of that Committee, are required then to attend.

Ways and Means.

Ordered, That the Matter of Money, for carrying on the great Affairs of the Kingdom, be taken into Consideration on Thursday next: And then the Report, concerning the Revenue, is to be made.

Bill of Sales, &c.

Ordered, That, on Friday next, Consideration shall be had of the Bill of Sales; and on Saturday next the Bill concerning Ministers; and, for that End, the Committees Reports, upon the said several Bills, is then to be brought in.

Pardon and Oblivion.

The House resumed the Debate upon the Act of General Pardon and Oblivion.

Resolved, That Wm. Burton be one of the Twenty Persons, to be excepted out of the Act of General Pardon and Oblivion, for and in respect only of such Pains, Penalties, and Forfeitures, (not extending to Life) as shall be thought fit to be inflicted on him by another Act, intended to be hereafter passed for that Purpose.

Resolved, That William Burton be forthwith sent for in Custody, by the Serjeant at Arms attending this House.

Love's, &c. Petition.

The humble Petition of Mary late Wife of Christopher Love, and Major James Winstanley, her Brother, Citizen of London, was read.

Proceedings against the Regicides.

The Question being propounded, That Serjeant Richard Keeble be one of the Twenty Persons to be excepted out of the Act of General Pardon and Oblivion, for and in respect only of such Pains, Penalties, and Forfeitures, (not extending to Life) as shall be thought fit to be inflicted on him by another Act, intended to be hereafter passed for that Purpose;

And being put to the Question, Whether the Question shall be now put;

It passed in the Negative.
