Wednesday, October 12th, 1659.

Lord Mayor elect.

ORDERED, That Thomas Allin, the Lord Mayor of London elect, be presented to the Parliament on Monday Morning next, for the Approbation of the Parliament.

Representation of Officers.

The Sixth Proposal was read.

A Letter dated at Whitehall, 5 October 1659, signed by divers Officers of the Army, directed, "For Colonel John Okey, These," was read:

Also a Paper, in Print, intituled, "The humble Representation and Petition of the Officers of the Army, to the Parliament of the Commonwealth of England; presented to them Wednesday, 5 October 1659, by Major General Desbrow, accompanied with the Field-Officers of the Army; and subscribed by above Two hundred and Thirty Commmission Officers, in and about London; together with the Parliament's Answer thereunto; was also read.

Commissions annulled.

The Question being propounded, That the several Commissions of these several Persons; viz. Colonel John Lambert, Colonel Jo. Disbrow, Colonel James Berry, Colonel Tho. Kelsey, Colonel Richard Ashfeild, Colonel Ralph Cobbett, Major Richard Creed, Colonel Wm. Packer, and Colonel Wm. Barrow; who have subscribed the said Letter; shall be, and are hereby, made void and null; and they, and every of them, be, and are hereby discharged from all Military Employment;

And the Question being put, That this Question be now put;

The House was divided.
The Noes went forth.

So it passed with the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put; It was

Resolved, That the several Commissions of these several Persons, viz. Colonel John Lambert, Colonel John Disborow, Colonel James Berry, Colonel Thomas Kelsey, Colonel Richard Ashfeild, Colonel Ralph Cobbett, Major Richard Creed, Colonel Wm. Packer, and Colonel Robert Barrow; who have subscribed the said Letter; shall be, and are hereby, made void and null; and they, and every of them, be, and are hereby, discharged from all Military Employment.

Army Commissioners.

The Question being propounded, That the Army shall be governed by Commissioners;

And the Question being put, That this Question be now put;

It passed with the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put; It was

Resolved, That the Army shall be governed by Commissioners.

Resolved, That the Number of the Commissioners be Seven.

Resolved, That Lieutenant-General Charles Fleetwood be one of the Commissioners.

Resolved, That the same Pay be continued to Lieutenant-General Fleetwood, as formerly.

Resolved, That Lieutenant-General Edmund Ludlow be One of the Commissioners.

Resolved, That General George Moncke be one of the Commissioners.

The Question being propounded, That Sir Arthur Hesilrig be one of the Commissioners:

And the Question being put, That this Question be now put;

It passed with the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put; It was

Resolved, That Sir Arthur Hesilrig be one of the Commissioners.

Resolved, That Colonel Valentine Wauton be one of the Commissioners.

Resolved, That Colonel Herbert Morley be one of the Commissioners.

The Question being propounded, That Colonel Robert Overton be one of the Commissioners;

And the Question being put, That this Question be now put;

It passed with the Affirmative.

And the main Question, being put; It was

Resolved, That Colonel Robert Overton be one of the Commissioners.

Resolved, That the Quorum be any Three of them.

A Bill, appointing Commissioners for the Government of the Army, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto Colonel Thompson, Colonel Lister, Mr. Robinson, Mr. Garland, Colonel Martin, Mr. Solicitor Reynolds, Major Salwey, Lord Whitlock; or any Three of them: And are to meet presently, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Resolved, That it be referred to the Commissioners for commanding the Army, to bring in the Names of the next Superior Officer, in every of the Regiments late of Colonel John Lambert, Colonel John Disbrow, Colonel James Berry, Colonel Thomas Kelsey, Colonel Richard Ashfeild, Colonel Ralph Cobbett, Major Richard Creed, Colonel Wm. Packer, and Colonel Robert Barrow; and present them to the Parliament To-morrow Morning.

Army Commission.

Resolved, That Colonel Dixwell be Lieutenant of Dover-Castle; and that his Commission be brought in To-morrow Morning.

Army Commissioners.

Mr. Garland reports Amendments to the Bill, appointing Commissioners for the Government of the Army: Which were twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

The said Bill, so amended, was read the Third time; and, upon the Question, passed.

Ordered, That the Commissioners for Management of the Army be, and are hereby, enjoined forthwith to meet; and to give Order, That the Forces may be so disposed of, as may be for the Peace of the Commonwealth, and Safety of the Parliament.

Insolvent Debtors.

Ordered, That the Act for Prisoners be read the Second time, on this Day Sevennight.

Government.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee, concerning the Government of the Commonwealth, be made and taken into Consideration, To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Proposals of Officers.

Ordered, That it be referred to a Committee, to consider of an Answer to be given to the Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Proposals of the Officers of the Army; and report it to the House; Viz. Mr. Robinson, Colonel Martin, Mr. Millington, Mr. Say, Lord Whitlock, Colonel White, Sir Arthur Hesilrig, Mr. Solicitor Reynolds; or any Three of them: And are to meet To-morrow Morning, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Irish Adventurers.

Ordered, That the Bill for Ireland be taken into Consideration, on Saturday Morning next.

Parliament Guard.

The Question being propounded, That the Regiments of Colonel Morley and Colonel Okey, and so many of Colonel Mosse his Regiment, as attended at Paul's, be, and are hereby, required to guard the Parliament, and Places hereabout, this Night;

And the Question being put, That this Question be now put;

It passed with the Negative.

Army Appointments.

Resolved, That Lieutenant-Colonel Campfeild be Colonel of that Regiment of Foot which was Colonel John Lambert's Regiment.

Resolved, That Major Christofer Skipper be Lieutenant-Colonel of that Regiment.

Resolved, That Captain Bradshawe be Major of that Regiment.

Ordered, That the Commissioners for Government of the Army acquaint the said Commissioners herewith.

Ordered, That the Serjeant at Arms attending the Parliament do carry the Order for Discharge of the Commissions to the respective Persons whom it concerns.
