Friday, July the First, 1659.

Indemnity.

ACCORDING to former Order, the House was this Day resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the Bill of Indemnity.

Mr. Speaker did forbear to take the Chair.
Mr. Garland took the Chair.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Garland reports from the said Grand Committee, that they desire the Leave of this House, to sit on Monday Morning next.

Resolved, That this House be resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the Bill of Indemnity, on Tuesday Morning next: And the Speaker not to take the Chair, until Eleven o'Clock that Day.

Irish Commissioners.

Colonel Sydney reports Amendments to the Act, giving several Powers to the Commissioners for Ireland, within named; and declaring several Laws, Ordinances, and Acts of Parliament, to be in Force in Ireland: Which were twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Resolved, That the Commissioners formerly voted; viz. Colonel John Jones, William Steele Serjeant at Law, Robert Goodwyn Esquire, Colonel Mathew Tomlinson, and Miles Corbet Serjeant at Law; be inserted into this Bill.

Resolved, That this Bill, thus amended, be ingrossed.

Resolved, That Wm. Steele Esquire be a Serjeant at Law.

Resolved, That Miles Corbet Esquire be a Serjeant at Law.

Foreign Embassies.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker be, and is hereby authorized to sign these Dockets: viz.

1. A Commission from the Parliament, to Edward Mountague, Algernon Sydney, Sir Robert Honnywood, and Thomas Boone, to be Commissioners and Plenipotentiaries to the Kings of Sweden and Denmarke: Dated 30th of June 1659:

2. Commissions from the Parliament of England, to Edward Mountague, Algernon Sydney, Sir Robert Honnywood, and Thomas Boone, Commissioners and Plenipotentiaries to the King of Swethland: Dated the 30th of June 1659.

3. Letters Patents, containing a Commission to Edward Mountague, Algernon Sydney, Sir Robert Honnywood, and Thomas Boone, Commissioners and Plenipotentiaries to Fredrick the Third, King of Denmarke: Dated the 30th of June 1659: And that the same shall be sufficient Warrant to the Commissioners of the Great Seal, for passing the same under the Great Seal of England.

Irish Commissioners.

Colonel Sydney reports from the Council of State, Instructions for the Commissioners for the Governing of the Affairs of Ireland.

Resolved, That these Words, in the Ninth Instruction; viz. "And to advance the said Rates, or set new Rates upon such Commodities in Ireland, as they conceive may bear Advancement or Imposition, without Prejudice to Trade;" be omitted.

The Question being put, That there be a further Addition to the First Article;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, That the Blank in the Eighth Article be filled up with these Words; viz. "Not exceeding the Term of Five Years."

And the said Instructions, thus amended, being put to the Question, were assented unto.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do sign these Instructions.

Ordered, That it be referred to a Committee, to consider of the Law for the Punishment of Disturbances in the Worship of God; and what is defective in it; and to offer what is further fit to be done, to restrain the Inconveniences of such Disturbances; Viz. Sir Wm. Strickland, Mr. Corbet, Sir James Harrington, Sir Arthur Hesilrig, Lord Chief-Baron Wild, Mr. Serjeant Hill, Mr. Holland, Mr. Leaman, Colonel Morley, Colonel Downes, Sir Henry Vane, Colonel Ludlowe, Mr. Robinson, Colonel Birch, Major-General Skippon, Colonel Waite, Mr. Smith, Colonel Sydenham, Mr. Gurdon, Mr. Hay, Colonel Lister, Colonel Bennet, Mr. Ralegh, Sir John Trevor, Mr. Chaloner, Mr. Pury, Mr. Anlaby, Mr. Fagg, Colonel Martin, Colonel Pyne, Colonel Rich, Mr. Nevill, Mr. West, Colonel Gurdon, Mr. Scot, Alderman Pennington, Alderman Atkins; or any Five of them: And are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon.

Army Commissions.

The House being informed, that divers Officers of the Army were at the Door;

They were called in: And, coming to the Clerk's Table, in usual manner, Mr. Speaker acquainted them with the great Trust the Parliament reposed in them; and that the Parliament did expect Faithfulness from them to the Parliament and Commonwealth of England: And thereupon delivered them their Commissions; viz.

To Colonel John Okey, his Commission to be Colonel of a Regiment of Horse:

To Captain-Lieutenant Richard Ward, his Commission to be Captain-Lieutenant of this Regiment:

To Anthony Atkinson, his Commission to be Quartermaster of a Troop in this Regiment:
