Saturday, June 11th, 1659.

Capt. Hatfeild.

SIR Arthur Hesilrig reports from the Commissioners for nominating Officers of the Army, That the said Commissioners have received Satisfaction touching Captain John Hatfeild.

Resolved, That Captain Hatfeild have his Commission delivered unto him.

Fire at Metheringham.

The humble Petition of Edward Shore and Wm. Dickenson, on the behalf of themselves, and divers other distressed Inhabitants of the Town of Metheringham in the County of Lincolne, for a publick Contribution for their Loss by Fire; and a Certificate under the Hand of several Justices of Peace of the said County; were this Day read.

Ordered, That a Patent be granted, in usual Form, for a Collection of the Charity of well-disposed Persons for the Relief of the Petitioners in the County of Lincolne, and County and City thereof, in the City of London and Suburbs thereof, and in the Six next adjacent Counties to the County of Lincolne: And that the Atterney-General do prepare the said Patent; and the Commissioners for Custody of the Great Seal of England do pass the same under the Great Seal of England, accordingly.

Army Commissions.

The House being informed, That Major-General Lambert, and other Officers of the Army, whose Commissions were ready, were at the Door;

They were called in: And, being come to the Clerk's Table, in manner usual, Mr. Speaker acquainted Major-General Lambert, and all the rest of the Officers, with the great Trust and Confidence that the Parliament reposed in them; and that the Parliament expected Faithfulness and Obedience from them to the Parliament and Commonwealth: And did deliver to them their several Commissions: Viz.

Unto Major-General Lambert his several Commissions; the one, to be Colonel of a Regiment of Horse, and Captain of a Troop of Horse; and the other, to be Colonel of a Regiment of Foot, and Captain of a Company of Foot:

To Captain-Lieutenant Thomas Spilman, his Commission to be Captain-Lieutenant of a Troop of Horse in Major-General Lambert's Regiment:

To Major Richard Creed, his Commission to be Major of the said Regiment:

To Captain Adam Baynes, his Commission to be Captain of a Troop of Horse in the said Regiment:

To Lieutenant Henry Webley, his Commission to be Lieutenant of that Troop:

To Cornet Thomas Ball, his Commission to be Cornet of that Troop:

To Captain John Hatfeild, his Commission to be Captain of a Troop of Horse in the said Regiment:

To Cornet Thomas Lovell, his Commission to be Cornet of that Troop:

To Captain Joseph Cooke, his Commission to be Captain of a Company of Foot in Colonel Ludlewe's Regiment:

To Captain-Lieutenant Thomas Hooper, his Commission to be Captain-Lieutenant in Major-General Lambert's Regiment of Foot:

To Captain Tho. Axtell, his Commission to be Captain of a Company of Foot in the said Regiment:

To Lieutenant Samuel Foster, his Commission to be Lieutenant of that Company:

To Ensign Wm. Atkinson, his Commission to be Ensign of that Company:

Resolved, That this House doth approve of the Commission given to Jeremiah Camphim.

Sir Arthur Hesilrig reports from the Commissioners for nominating of Officers, That Richard Elton be Captain, in the Place of Captain Walter Brokett.

Resolved, That this House doth agree with the Commissioners, That Richard Elton be Captain, in the Place of Captain William Brockett.

Resolved, That this House doth agree with the said Commissioners, That Ensign Ralph Jackson be Ensign in the Company of Captain Wm. Elwin.

Mr. Speaker also delivered the several Commissions following; viz.

To Captain Richard Elton, his Commission to be Captain of a Company of Foot in Major-General Lambert's Regiment:

To Ensign William Newhouse, his Commission to be Ensign in that Company:

To Lieutenant James Thomas, his Commission to be Lieutenant of that Company:

To Ensign Richard Elton, his Commission to be Ensign in that Company:

To Geo. Fryer, his Commission to be Chaplain to the said Regiment:

To Quarter-master John Southerne, his Commission to be Quarter-master of the said Regiment.

Ordered, That this House do take into Consideration these Four Lists reported, on Monday Morning next.

Commissions to absent Officers.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Members of this House that were of the Committee for Safety, to consider, How Commissions may be delivered to Officers that are absent, and in remote Parts: And present their Opinions therein to this House.

Naval Services.

Colonel Thompson reports, That the Commissioners for the Admiralty and Navy shall be impowered to direct Payment to be made, by the Treasurer for the Navy, of such Monies as are now due for Provisions made and delivered for the Service of the Navy, formerly contracted for, upon Bills signed by the Commissioners for the Navy, in such manner as may best conduce to the Carrying on of the Affairs of the Admiralty and Navy, wherewith they are intrusted.

Ordered, That the Commissioners for the Admiralty and Navy be and are hereby impowered to direct Payment to be made, by the Treasurer of the Navy, of such Monies as are now due for Provisions made and delivered for the Service of the Navy, formerly contracted for, upon Bills signed by the Commissioners for the Navy, in such manner as may best conduce to the Carrying on of the Affairs of the Admiralty and Navy, wherewith they are intrusted: And the said Commissioners for the Admiralty and Navy are hereby further impowered to exchange and dispose of Prisoners.

Indemnity, &c.

Ordered, That this House be resolved into a Grand Committee, on Tuesday Morning next, upon the Bill of Indemnity; and upon the Petition and Address of the Officers of the Army.

Publick Revenue.

Ordered, That Sir Henry Mildmay, Major Lister, Colonel Done, Colonel Rich, and Mr. Pury junior, be added to the Committee for Inspection of the Treasury.

Transactions with Holland.

The House, according to Order made Yesterday, took into Consideration the Report made Yesterday by Sir Henry Vane, touching the Paper delivered in by the Dutch Ambassador to the 7/17th of June instant, &c.: Which Paper was read.

The Answer of the Council of State to the said Paper, was also read.

Also the Draught of a Declaration, inhibiting the Taking of Commissions from Foreign Princes and States, was also read.

Ordered, That the said Answer and Declaration be referred to the Council of State, as the Subject-Matter upon which they shall treat with the Lord Ambassador from the States-General of the United Provinces: And that they report their Proceedings therein to this House, for their Approbation.
