Carlisle Market.
A Bill for changing the Saturday Market at Carlisle to Friday, was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto Mr. Downing, Lord Howard, Mr. Briscoe, Major Burton, Mr. Smyth, Sir Wm. Strickland, Mr. Fenwick, Lord Strickland, Major-General Lilborne, Mr. Hildesley, Mr. Margetts, Major-General Goff, Mr. Fowell, Mr. Jenkinson, Lord Cockerum: And are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Inner Court of Wards.
Owse River.
A Bill for amending the River of Owse, at or near the City of York, was this Day read the First time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be read the Second time on this Day Sevennight.

Mr. Grove reports Amendments to the Bill for Catechising: Which were twice read.
Resolved, That, in the Amendments, instead of "the First of May," these Words be inserted, "The First of August."
The Question being put, To agree with the Committee in the Penalty of 6s. 8d. to be inserted in the * Line of the Second Page;

The House, according to former Order, resumed the Debate upon the Remonstrance.
Resolved, That, in the Third Line of the 12th Folio, instead of the Words "this Nation," these Words be inserted, "these Nations."
Another Amendment being offered to this Clause;
Resolved, That Part of the Words to be added in the Amendment be, "the Commons, assembled in Parliament."
Resolved, That, instead of these Words, "Necessities of these Nations do or shall require," these Words be inserted, viz. "as the Commons assembled in Parliament shall from time to time adjudge the Necessities of these Nations to require."
Resolved, That this Clause, thus amended, be Part of the Remonstrance.
Resolved, That the Preamble of this Clause be made, as followeth; "To the end there may be a constant Revenue for Support of the Government, and for the Safety," &c.
Resolved, That this Preamble, so amended, be Part of the Remonstrance.
The last Clause of this Article was read:
Resolved, That, instead of the Word "Ordained," these Words, "Declared and Enacted," be inserted.
Resolved, That these Words, "Gift, Loan, Benevolence," be added, in this Clause, before the Word "Tax."
Resolved, That these Words, "That no Charge be laid," be added in this Clause.
Resolved, That this Clause, thus amended, be Part of this Remonstrance.

The Eighth Article was read.
It being moved, That something might be added to the former Article, touching the Persons and Estates of the People;
Ordered, That the Matter of this Debate, touching the Liberty and Property of the People, be referred to a Committee, to consider thereof, with reference to the Laws, Statues, and Ordinances, of the Land; and to report something to the House, to be made a Part of this Remonstrance; Mr. Secretary, Colonel Jones, Lord Commissioner Whitelock, Lord Chief Justice Glyn, Lord Cockram, Sir John Reynolds, Mr. Attorney General, Mr. Jenkenson, Mr. Bampfeild, Mr. Godfrey, Mr. Nath. Bacon, Mr. Lloyd, Lord Broghill, Mr. Dunch, Major General Whaley, Mr. Baron Parker, Major General Bridge, Mr. Brisco, Major General Berry, Mr. Beake, Colonel Mathews, Colonel Hawksworth, Sir Lislebone Long, Sir Charles Wolsley, Major General Goff, Sir John Hobart, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Margetts, Judge Advocate Whalley, Master of the Rolls, Colonel Whetham, Colonel Wilton, Mr. Bond: To meet To-morrow Morning, at Seven of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.
The First Clause of this Article was read.
The Question being propounded, That the Persons, to be admitted to be of the Council, be qualified according to the Qualifications expressed in the Fourth Article;
And the Question being put, That that Question be now put;
It passed in the Negative.
Resolved, That these Words in this Clause; viz. "And a just Christian Liberty in Matters of Religion;" do stand.
And the whole Clause being put to the Question; It was
Resolved, That this be Part of the Remonstrance.
Resolved, That, after the Word Parliament, in the 14th Line of the 12th Folio, these Words be added, "and shall not be afterwards removed, but by Consent in Parliament."
Resolved, That, after the Words, in the former Vote, these Words be added; viz. "But may, in the Interval of Parliaments, be suspended from the Exercise of his Place by your Highness, or your Successors, and the Council, for just Cause."
Resolved, That this First Part of this Article, so amended, be Part of the Remonstrance.
Resolved, That the Number of the Council shall be One-and-twenty.
The Question being propounded, That the Quorum of the Council be Eleven;
And the Question being put, That that Question be now put;
It passed in the Negative.
Resolved, That the Number of the Quorum of the Council shall be Seven, and not under.
Resolved, That this be Part of the Remonstrance.
Resolved, That the Words "not above" be added to the former Vote of the Number of the Council, next before the Words "One-and-twenty."
Resolved, That this Debate be adjourned till To-morrow Morning; and nothing to intervene.
