Friday, the 31st of October, 1656.

Thanks for Sermons.

ORDERED, That the Thanks of this House be given unto Doctor Thomas Goodwyn, for his great Pains taken in his Sermon, preached before this House Yesterday, in Margarett's Church Westminster, being a Day set apart for solemn Fasting and Humiliation: And that he be desired to print his Sermon: And that he have the like Privilege in printing thereof as hath been formerly allowed to others in like Cases.

And Sir Wm. Strickland is desired to give him the Thanks of this House, accordingly.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. King, a Member of this House, have Leave to go into Ireland for a Month.

Terry's Estate.

An Act for enabling Judith Terrey and Elizabeth Terrey, Daughters of Thomas Terrey, to join with their Father in making of Leases for One-and-twenty Years, of several Copyhold Estates, held of the Manor of StoakeNewington in the County of Middlesex, was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the same Committee to whom the Act for raising Portions for the younger Children of William Masham Esquire, deceased, is committed: And that Mr. St. Aubin, Mr. Bradden, Sir Wm. Strickland, Colonel Chadwick, Colonel Hewson, Major-General Lilborne, be added to that Committee.

Pardon of Deane, &c.

Colonel Shapcott reports, A Proviso, by way of Amendments, to the Act for the Pardon and Restitution in Blood of John Deane Gentleman, and others: Which was twice read.

Resolved, That, in the said Proviso, these Words, "or any," be added.

And the said Amendment, so amended, was agreed:

And the Bill, with that Proviso, so amended, ordered to be ingrossed,

Vagrants.

Mr. Fowell reports from the Committee appointed for that Purpose, A Bill against Vagrants, and wandering, idle, dissolute Persons: Which was this Day read the First time; and ordered to be read the Second time Tomorrow Morning.

Nayler's Blasphemies.

Ordered, That a Committee be appointed, to consider of the Information now given, touching the great Misdemeanors and Blasphemies of James Nayler, and others, at Bristoll, and elsewhere; and to examine the Truth thereof; and to report the Matter of Fact, together with their Opinion therein: With Power to send for the said Nayler, and the said other Parties, and such Witnesses as they shall think fit: And that they have Power to send for such Magistrates as they shall find to have been remiss in their Duties therein: And likewise to look upon the Laws and Ordinances made against Blasphemy: And to prepare a Bill, as well for the Supply of the Defects therein, in reference to such Blasphemies and Misdemeanors, as also for taking away such old Laws made against tender Consciences, as are fit to be taken away: And they are desired to do this with Care and Speed: Viz. Antholin's Parish.

The humble Petition of the Parishioners of Antholin's, London, was this Day read.

Impropriations.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought in to reverse a Decree had in the Exchequer-Chamber, against Sir Thomas Crew, and others, the Trustees for buying in Impropriations: And that Mr. Recorder of London, Mr. Crook, Mr. Attorney of the Duchy, and Mr. Bampfeild, do bring in the said Bill: With Power to them to send for the Decree, Papers, Persons, and Records: And also to propound to the House such Ways and Courses as shall be necessary to bring in the Arrears of the Monies arising by that Revenue, in the Hands of the Trustees, Tenants, or other Persons.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider how that Trust in those Feoffees may be settled, and carried on.

Ministers Maintenance.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider and examine how the Tythes and Profits belonging to the several Churches in Wales, which are not supplied with Ministers, hath been disposed of since the Act made for Propagation of the Gospel in Wales; and what Persons have received the same; and how those Places may be supplied with godly and able Ministers, and with fitting Maintenance.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider and examine how the Tythes and Profits belonging to the several Churches in the Four Northern Counties, which are not supplied with Ministers, hath been disposed of since the Act made for Propagation of the Gospel in the Four Northern Counties; and what Persons have received the same; and how those Places may be supplied with godly and able Ministers, and with fitting Maintenance.

York Court of Law.

Resolved, That the Bill for erecting a Court at York be read To-morrow Morning.

Repairing House.

Mr. Robinson reports the Certificate of John Davenport, Servant to the Surveyor, touching the Records over the Parliament-House; and of the Decays of the Room; Which was this Day read.

Ordered, That the House called the late King's FishHouse, be ridded, and prepared for laying up the Records there, which lie in the Room over the Parliament.

Resolved, That this House is of Opinion, That it is necessary that the Records be removed; and the Parliament House repaired.

Ordered, That it be referred to his Highness' Council, forthwith to take care and give Order that this be done; and likewise to take care that the Roof, as well of the Court of Requests, as the other Passages to this House, be repaired.
