Probate of Wills.
THE humble Petition of the Justices of Peace, and the Grand Jury, assembled at the General Sessions of the Peace, holden for the West Riding of the County of York, on the Behalf of themselves, and the Inhabitants of the said Riding, was this Day read.
The humble Petition of the Mayor and Commonalty of the City of York, was this Day read.
Another humble Petition of the Mayor and Commonalty of the City of York was also this Day read.
Ordered, That these Petitions be referred to a Committee, to take the same into Consideration: Viz. to Lord Lambert, Lord Commissioner Widdrington, Mr. Bois, Mr. Brisco, Mr. Bulkley, Lord Broghill, Mr. Strickland, Sir Rich. Onslow, Mr. Recorder, Mr. Turnor, Sir Anth. Ashly Cooper, Mr. Harrison, Colonel Tho. Birch, Alderman Dickenson, Colonel Shuttleworth, Colonel Sanky, Colonel Bethell, Colonel Purefoy, Mr. Lister, Mr. Martin Lister, Mr. Yorke, Mr. Nath. Bacon, Lieutenant Colonel Kelsey, Mr. Tempest, Lieutenant Colonel Crowne, Colonel Fitz-James, Sir Wm. Strickland, all the Gentlemen that serve for the Five Northern Counties, all the Gentlemen of the Long Robe Members of this House, Colonel Chadwick, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Bond, Sir Wm. Boteler; and all that come to have Voices: And are to meet in the Exchequer Chamber, this Afternoon at Two of the Clock: And they are to consider touching a Court of Justice, to be erected at York, for the Five Northern Counties: And how the Probate of Wills, and granting Administration, and Recovery of Legacies, may be settled throughout all England and Wales, for the greatest Ease and Advantage of the People: And to prepare one or more Bills to that Purpose, if they think fit: And that they do also consider of the Settling of the Business of Probate of Wills, Granting of Administrations, and Recovery of Legacies in Ireland: And prepare a Bill for that Purpose also; and present them to the House.
The humble Petition of such whose Names are subscribed, on the Behalf of themselves, and many other Inhabitants of the County of Derby, holding of the Duchy of Lancaster, was this Day read.
Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Committee before named.
Settling the Government.
The House this Day resumed the Debate upon the Report from the Grand Committee, upon the Government.
Resolved, That these Words, "and avowedly maintain," be part of this Question.
The Question being propounded, That these Words, "which shall be agreed on by the Protector, and the Parliament," be Part of this Question;
And the Question being put, That this Question be now put;
The House was divided.

Resolved, That these Words, "which shall be agreed upon by the Lord Protector, and Parliament," be Part of this Question.
And the whole Clause, in these Words, "or such as shall preach, print, or avowedly maintain any thing contrary to the fundamental Principles of Doctrine held forth; which shall be agreed upon by the Lord Protector and the Parliament; or shall do any Overt or publick Act, to the Disturbance thereof," being put to the Question, was, upon the Question, agreed to be Part of the Question.

Ordered, That Mr. Maidstone and Colonel Goffe be added to the Committee for Privileges and Elections.
