Saturday, the 13th of August, 1653.

Letter, &c. read.

A LETTER from the Commissioners of Parliament in Ireland, dated at Dublin the 3d of August 1653, with a Copy inclosed of the humble Petition and Proposals of Edmond Leach, and Robert Harding, to the Commissioners of the Commonwealth of England for the Affairs of Ireland, was this Day read.

Ordered, That this Letter and Proposals be referred to the Committee for Ireland.

Registering Marriages.

The House this Day (according to former Order,) resumed the Debate upon the Bill touching Marriages, and Registering thereof; and also touching Births and Burials.

The Question being put, That the Clause beginning with the first Word of the 22d Line of the 3d Page, and ending with the Word "Effect," in the Sixth Line of the 4th Folio, do stand in the Bill as it is;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That Sir Antho. Ashley Cooper, Alderman Tichborne, Mr. Spence, Mr. Sadler, Colonel Sidenham, Major General Desborow, or any Three of them, do withdraw; and bring in a Clause upon the Debate of the House, to be inserted instead of the Clause now omitted.

Navy Estimate.

Mr. Moyer reports from the Council of State, A Report, made unto the Council, by the Commissioners for inspecting the Treasuries, concerning the Money to be provided for the Use of the Navy, from the 15th of July last, until the last of December next ensuing; in these Words:

By the Commissioners, by Act of Parliament, for inspecting the Treasuries, August 11th, 1653.



IN pursuance of an Order of the Right honourable the Council of State, dated the 6th instant, we do humbly certify, That, by an Estimate, under the Hands of the Commissioners of the Navy, there is requisite to be provided, for the Use of the Navy, from the 15th of July 1653, to the last of December next ensuing, the Sum of	£. 1,115,000	-	-
Memorandum, There is nothing demanded for the Ten Frigates intended to be built, nor for the Winter Service.

Towards the aforesaid Estimate, since the 15th of July, there hath been paid the Sum of	63,570	9	2
And, according to Estimates delivered in to us, under the Hands of the respective Treasurers, within the aforesaid Time, there may be received the Sum of	542,924	19	9



Which said Sum may be raised as follows: Viz.
Excise	£. 100,000	-	-
Customs	130,000	-	-
Dutch Prizes	100,000	-	-
Assessments	200,000	-	-
Collectors Prizes	12,924	19	9
So there will want to be provided, by the last of December next, the Sum of	508,504	11	1

Resolved, That it be referred to a Committee of Seven, to receive such Propositions as shall be presented to them for raising of Monies: Viz. To Colonel Sidenham, Colonel West, Colonel Blunt, Colonel Jermy, Major General Desborow, Mr. Taylor, Captain Stone, or any Three of them: And this Committee is to meet at the Committee of Inspections, at Two of the Clock this Afternoon: And this Committee are to receive such Propositions as shall be presented for raising of Monies for Supply of the Necessities of the Commonwealth; and to propose any thing they shall think fit for that Purpose to the House: With Power to send for Persons, Papers, Records; and to examine upon Oath.

Sir Anthony Ashley Cooper reports from the Committee appointed to withdraw, Some Amendments to the Act touching Marriages, &c.: Which were twice read; and the Debate adjourned till Monday Morning.
