Tuesday, the 19th of August, 1651.

Prayers.

Army Pay.

COL. Purefoy reports from the Council of State, That Order may be given to the Committee of the Army for the Payment of the Troops, which were recruited to One hundred and fifty Horse, according to the Establishment of the Army.

Resolved, by the Parliament, That the Troops, which were recruited to One hundred and fifty Horse, be paid according to the Establishment of the Army; and that the Committee of the Army be, and are hereby, authorized and required to pay them accordingly.

Peterbro' Minster.

An Act concerning the Minster of Peterborough was this Day read the first and second Time:

And the Question being put, That this Act be ingrossed;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Act being put to the Question, passed.

Howard's Composition.

Ordered, That a Month's Time longer be given to Sir Robert Howard for Payment in of the Money for his Composition, without Prejudice, in the mean time, for Non-payment thereof; and that the Commissioners for Compounding do admit the same accordingly.

Letters read.

A Letter from the Lord General from Carrick-Bridge, of the 16th of August 1651, with a Letter inclosed from Ger. Benson, and others, of the County of Westmorland, of the 15th of August 1651, were this Day read.

A Letter from Col. Fenwick from Leith, the 14th of August 1651, was this Day read.

A Letter from Major-General Harrison from Knottesford, of the 17th Day of August 1651, about Eight of the Clock, was this Day read.

A Letter from Major-General Lambert from Knottesford, of the 17th of August in the Morning, was this Day read.

Act of Navigation.

An Act for Increase of Shipping, and Encouragement of the Navigation of this Nation, was this Day read the second time; and, upon the Question, committed to a Committee of the whole House: And

Ordered, That on Thursday every Week the said Committee do meet and sit; and that the said Committee do sit on Thursday Morning next; and that Mr. Speaker do then forbear to take the Chair.

Militia.

The Lord Commissioner Whitelock reports, from the Council of State, An Act giving further Power to the respective Committees of the several Militias of the City of London, the Hamlets of the Tower, Southwark, and Westminster: Which was this Day read the first and second Time: And, after some Amendments at the Table,

The Question being put, That this Act, so amended, be ingrossed;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Act, so amended, being put to the Question, passed; and ordered to be forthwith printed and published.

Exemptions to Volunters.

Ordered, That the Parliament doth declare and order that all such Persons as have, by virtue of any Commission from the Parliament, or Council of State, voluntarily listed themselves in the Service of the Parliament, and do now stand listed in any Regiment, Troop, or Company of Horse or Foot, shall be, and are, freed, indemnified, and discharged of and from any Fine, Mulct, or other Punishment, which may be inflicted upon them for their not appearing or not serving in the Trained-Bands of the City of London, and within the late Lines of Communication, during such Times as the said Persons respectively shall continue and be in the Service of the Parliament in any Regiment, Troop, or Company, voluntarily raised, as aforesaid.

Resolved, by the Parliament, That This be printed and published, together with the Act impowering the respective Militias of London, the Hamlets of the Tower, Southwark, and Westminster, to raise Foot.
