Thursday, the 18th of September, 1651.

Prayers.

Act of Navigation.

THE House, according to former Order, was resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the Bill for Increase of Shipping, and Encouragement of the Navigation of this Nation.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Love took the Chair.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Love reports from the grand Committee, upon that Bill, that the Committee have several times met, and are agreed upon the Amendments; and desire the Leave of the House, that the same may be reported on this Day Seven-night.

Resolved, That Mr. Love do report the Amendments To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Agent from Genoua.

Resolved, That the Order for the Time of giving Audience to the Agent from Genoua, be amended and made on Thursday Seven-night.

Sufferers at Worcester.

Resolved, That the Committee to whom the Business touching those in Worcester and Worcestershire have suffered by the War there, have Power to give Order to the Commissioners for Sequestrations in that County, and such of the Committee of the Militia as they shall think sit, to examine Witnesses touching such Persons; and that the Referrees have Power to examine upon Oath; and to return the same to the Committee.

Arms of the State.

Resolved, That the Arms of the State be provided to be set up in the House: And the Surveyor General is to provide the same accordingly.

The Engagement.

Resolved, That the Engagement be set up in a fair Table, fair-written; with the Names of those Members of Parliament who have subscribed the same.

Government of Scotland.

Resolved, That the Committee that are to consider how the Government of Scotland may be settled, do meet this Afternoon, and so de die in diem; and report to the House on this Day Sevennight: And Sir Henry Mildmay is to take Care thereof.

Thanksgiving Day.

Ordered, That the Narrative and the Act for setting apart Thursday the Second of October 1651, for a Day of publick Thanksgiving, be read the Second time Tomorrow Morning the first Business.

The Lord Commissioner Lisle reports an Act of Parliament for celebrating the Third of September yearly for ever, as a Day of publick Thanksgiving for the Lord's gracious Mercies vouchsafed to this Commonwealth on that Day: Which was this Day read the first time.

Arms of the State.

Ordered, That the Council of State do take Care for Payment of such Monies as shall be expended in setting up the Arms of this Commonwealth in the Tower of London, and upon the Vanes about the said Tower.
