Tuesday, July the 5th, 1659.

Indemnity.

THE House was this Day resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the Bill of Indemnity.

Mr. Speaker did forbear to take the Chair.

Mr. Say took the Chair.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Say reports from the Grand Committee for Indemnity, That the said Committee desire to have the Leave of this House to sit on Thursday Morning next, upon the Bill of Indemnity.

The Question being put, To agree with the Grand Committee, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee on Thursday next.

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, That the Amendments to the Bill of Indemnity be reported to this House on Thursday next: And that Mr. Say do make the Report of the said Amendments.

Envoy to France.

Resolved, That Mr. Speaker do sign the Docket for passing Letters Patents concerning a Commission to impower Wm. Lockhart, Governor of Dunkirk, and Chief Commander of the Parliament's Army in Flaunders, to treat with the King of France his Commissioners and Ministers, dated 4 July 1659: And that the same shall be sufficient Warrant to the Commissioners for Custody of the Great Seal, to pass the same, under the Great Seal of England.

State of the Government.

Resolved, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the Government, upon Friday Morning next: And that Mr. Speaker do forbear to take the Chair until Twelve of Clock that Day.

Delinquents in London.

A Bill for several Delinquents to depart out of the City of London before the Day of was this Day read the First time.

Loans.

A Bill for Payment of such Monies as shall be advanced for the Service of the Commonwealth, with Interest, after . . . . . . . Six Pounds per Cent. per Ann. was this Day read the First time.

The House adjourned itself until Four of Clock.

Ballast.

ORDERED, That Mr. Garland, Alderman Pennington, Mr. Hayes, and Mr. Peter Temple, be added to the Committee for Ballast.

Alderman Andrews.

Ordered, That Alderman Pennington, Alderman Atkins, and Mr. Weaver, be added to the Committee to whom Alderman Andrews' Business is referred.

Delinquents in London.

A Bill for divers Delinquents to depart out of the City of London, and late Lines of Communication, was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto Sir Arthur Hesilrig, Mr. Henry Nevill, Mr. Holland, Mr. Lechmere, Colonel White, Mr. Weaver, Mr. Garland, Colonel Martin, Lord St. John, Colonel Hutchinson, Colonel Sydenham, Colonel Morley, Sir Wm. Strickland, Mr. Robinson, Lord Whitlock, Major Salwey, Mr. Robert Goodwyn, Colonel Lister, Mr. Fagg, Mr. Say, Sir Henry Mildmay, Mr. Scot; or any Five of them: And are to meet To-morrow, at Seven of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Loans.

A Bill for securing the Repayment of Fifteen thousand Pounds, to be advanced for the present Service of the State, with Consideration for Forbearance, after the Rate of Six Pounds per Cent. was this Day read the Second time.

London Assessment.

Ordered, That the Commissioners for the Assessment in the City of London, and Suburbs thereof, do, within Six Days, assess and levy the First Payment upon the Act of Assessment; and bring the same in, forthwith: And that it be referred to the Council of State, to see the same done, accordingly.

Paying in Assessments.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State, to see if there be any Remissness in the Commissioners of the Assessments in the City of London, and Suburbs, in raising and paying in, the First Payment upon the Act of Assessment, accordingly, that they forthwith report it to the House.

Raising Monies.

Resolved, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee on Friday Morning next, to consider how to raise Money for the Use and Service of the Commonwealth: And that Mr. Speaker do forbear to take the Chair.

London Militia.

Mr. Garland reports from the Committee, to whom the Bill for settling the Militia of the City of London, and Liberties thereof, was referred, Amendments to the said Bill: Which were twice read.

Resolved, That Alexander Lawson Gentleman, Thomas Lenthall Gentleman, and Captain Marke Coe, be added Commissioners of the Militia for the City of London.

And the said Amendments being put to the Question, were assented unto.

Ordered, That this Bill be ingrossed.
