Prayers.

Settling the Government.

THE House this Day resumed the Debate, Yesterday adjourned, upon the Clause of the Government, reported from the Grand Committee of the whole House.

The Question being propounded, That, in order to a particular Bill, distinct from the Government, it is resolved, That, for the Maintenance and full Discharge of such Forces, both by Sea and Land, as shall be thought necessary to be kept up for the Defence of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland, and Ireland, and the Dominions thereunto belonging, together with the incident Charges of the said Forces, the yearly Sum of Ten hundred thousand Pounds shall be paid out of the Receipt of the Exchequer, for the Purposes aforesaid, by Warrant of the Lord Protector, and the Council, for so long Time as this present Parliament shall hereafter declare;

And the Question being put, That this Question be now put;

It passed in the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put; It was

Resolved, That the Debate upon the Bill touching the Government, be adjourned until To-morrow Morning.
