Prayers.

Settling the Government.

THE House (according to former Order) was this Day resolved into a Committee of the whole House, upon the Government.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
Mr. Hoskins was called to the Chair.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Hoskins reports, The Desire of the said Committee, That the House would give Leave, that the Committee may sit again To-morrow Morning.

Resolved, That the House be resolved into a Committee of the whole House To-morrow Morning, upon the Government, according to former Order.

Salters-Hall Judges.

Ordered, That Mr. Boys and Mr. Yeo be added to the Committee for the Proceedings of the Judges of Salters-Hall: And that they take care of the Bill appointed to be brought in by that Committee, for Relief of Creditors and poor Prisoners.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Smythson, a Member of the House, have Leave to go into the Country.

Ordered, That Mr. Trenchard, a Member of the House, have Leave to go into the Country.

Corn Trade.

Captain Hatsell reports from the Committee to whom the Consideration of Transportation of Corn, and Butter, and Cheese, &c. was referred, The Opinion of that Committee, in these Words; viz.

IN pursuance of an Order of Parliament, referring to this Committee, how Encouragement may be given for Transporting of Corn, &c.

This Committee, having considered thereof, do humbly make Report, as followeth:

That it shall be lawful for any Person or Persons, being Natives of this Commonwealth, to transport Wheat, and other Grain, when the Price shall not exceed,

For Wheat, 36 s. the Quarter:
For Rye, 24 s. the Quarter:
For Barley or Malt, 20 s. the Quarter:
For Peas and Beans, 18 s. the Quarter:

Paying Custom for the same; For Wheat 4 d. the Quarter; Rye, 3d. the Quarter; Peas, Beans, Barley, or Malt, 2 d. the Quarter: And that the Corn and Grain shall be transported in Ships or Vessels of this Commonwealth.

And they do further humbly report, That Butter may be transported, when the Price shall not exceed 6d. the Pound; paying Custom, if transported in Vessels of this Commonwealth, by a Native, 2s. 6d. the Barrel; and, if transported by an Alien, to pay, for Custom, 5s. the Barrel: Which Barrel is to contain Four Firkins; and each Firkin to contain Fifty-six Pounds net.

And this Committee hath considered of the Statutes made touching Buying and Selling again of Wheat, and other Grains; and do find, that Liberty was given therein when the Price of Wheat is at 32s. the Quarter, and other Grain at the Prices expressed in the said Acts.

And this Committee are humbly of Opinion, That Liberty may be given for Buying, Keeping, and Selling again of Wheat, and other Grains, in Markets, and out of Markets, when the Prices shall not exceed the Rates before-mentioned.

Debate adjourned.

Ordered, That the Debate of this Report be adjourned till To-morrow, Twelve of Clock.
