Prayers.

Settling the Government.

THE House, according to former Order, was resolved into a Committee of the whole House, upon the Government.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Hoskins was called to the Chair.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Hoskins reports the Desire of the Committee, that the House would give the Committee of the whole House Leave to sit again To-morrow, upon the Government.

Resolved, That the House be resolved, To-morrow Morning, into a Committee of the whole House to proceed upon the Government, according to former Order.

Ordered, That it be referred to a Committee, to bring in a Bill upon the present Debate; viz. To Colonel Fines, Sir Charles Wolsly, Mr. Recorder, Mr. Lechmere, Lord Commissioner Widdrington, Serjeant Glyn, Lord Broghill, Colonel Clerk, Lord Lambert, Mr. York, Lord President of the Council, Lord Commissioner Whitelock, Colonel Ireland, Captain Stone, Mr. Pury: And they are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Yarmouth Election.

Mr. Stevens reports from the Committee of Privileges, That there being a double Election for the Borough of Great Yarmouth, and Two Indentures returned; the Question being, whether the Right of Election were in the Bailiffs, Aldermen, Burgesses, and Commonalty, in Common-Council assembled, or in the Free Burgesses in general; there were Records produced for Election by the Free Burgesses in general: But the Committee found it to be against them; and that the Right of Election was in the Bailiffs, Aldermen, Burgesses, and Commonalty: Which Commonalty, upon perusal of the Patents, the Committee is of Opinion, was the Common Council assembled; and had found Elections had been accordingly: And, therefore, were of Opinion, That the Election of William Goff Esquire, and Thomas Dunn Gentleman, one of the Aldermen of the Borough of Yarmouth in the County of Norfolk, to serve as Members in this present Parliament; which said Election was made by the Bailiff, Aldermen, Burgesses, and Commonalty, in Common Council assembled, according to their ancient Custom; is a good Election.

Resolved, That the Election of William Goff Esquire, and Thomas Dun Gentleman, for the Borough of Great Yarmouth, is a good Election.

Ordered, That Nathaniell Ashby, one of the Bailiffs of the Borough of Great Yarmouth, who did not join in this Return, be summoned to attend this House on Wednesday next to join in the Return: And that the Clerk of the Commonwealth do then attend with the Writ and Return at that Time.
