Leave of Absence.

RESOLVED, That Mr. Dunkan have Leave to go into the Country.

Resolved, That Major Goddard have Leave to go into the Country.

Union with Scotland.

Resolved, That Tuesday Sevennight the Bill for the Union of Scotland be read.

Sale of Forests.

Alderman Titchborne reports from the Committee for the Improvement of the Sale of Forests, That it is the Opinion of the Committee, that the only Way in View for Improvement of the Sale of the Forests to the best Advantage of the Commonwealth, is, by the accepting of the Propositions annexed; viz.

Customs.

The humble Proposal of the late Farmers of the Customs to the Parliament of the Commonwealth of England.

1. THAT the Debt presented in May 1645, to the Committee of the Navy, being Two hundred Seventy-six thousand One hundred Forty-six Pounds, as by their humble Petition is expressed, may be made Publick Faith, upon the Sale of the Forests Lands.

2. That, upon Security of the said Forests Lands, they, and their Creditors, propound to pay, for the Use of the Commonwealth, these Sums following; that is,

The First of February next 100,000
The First of May next 50,000
The First of September next 26,146
£. 276,146

And that an Act pass for the Doubling thereof, with all convenient Speed. September 22th, 1653.Jo. Jacob, Job Harby, Ni. Crisp.

Army Arrears.

Mr. Strickland reports from the Council of State, The humble Petition of the Officers of the Army, on the Behalf of the Army, and Supernumeraries whose Arrears are comprised within the Security of the late King's Lands, presented to the Council: As also, The humble Petition of the Officers of the Army, to the said Council: Which were both this Day read.

Resolved, That the House doth agree with this Report, brought in by the Committee, save that the Two latter Payments be made First of May.

Sale of Forests.

Resolved, That it be referred to the same Committee, to bring in an Act for the Sale of the Forest Lands.

Customs.

Resolved, That the Monies to be paid in upon the Proposals of the late Farmers of the Customs, shall be applied to the Use of the Navy.

Army Arrears.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider of the Petitions now reported; and, upon hearing the Officers of the Army, to state the Master; and report the same, with their Opinion therein, to the House.

Customs.

Resolved, That there be a Committee appointed for the better Preservation of the Customs, and preventing the Deceits and Abuses to the State therein; viz. to Mr. Moyer, Alderman Titchborne, Mr. Strickland, Alderman Ireton, Colonel Jones, Mr. Broughton, Mr. Maior, Colonel Clerk, Colonel Mountague, Captain Howard, or any Three of them: And this Committee are to bring in fit Powers to be given to this Committee, upon Debate of the House, To-morrow Morning.
