Prayers.

Navy.

ORDERED, That it be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to fit the Crescent Frigatt, formerly revolted, and set to Sea, to be a Guard upon the Western Coasts.

Ordered, That Captain Skynner the Pirate, and the rest of the Prisoners lately taken upon the Crescent Frigatt, be referred to the Court of Admiralty, to be speedily and effectually proceeded with, and tried, for their Offences, and brought to Judgment, according to the Practice and Course of the Admiralty, in the like Cases: And the Judges and others concerned herein, are hereby required to proceed herein, with Diligence and Effect, accordingly.

Col. Temple.

The General's Letter from St. Alban's, of 27 Septembris 1648, on the Behalf of Colonel Purbecke Temple, with a Paper therein inclosed, were both this Day read.

Ordered, That the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall do make their Report touching the Lord Lovelace, on Monday next: And that the said Committee at Goldsmiths Hall do sequester the Lord Lovelace his Estate: And

It is further Ordered, That, out of the Profits thereof, the Sum of Five hundred Pounds, formerly ordered to Colonel Purbecke Temple, out of the Composition of the Lord Lovelace, in Part of the Arrears of the said Colonel Purbecke, be forthwith paid and satisfied unto the said Colonel Purbecke Temple, or his Assigns: And the Committee for Sequestrations in the several Counties, and their Treasurers, and the Tenants of the said Lands, are required and injoined to take notice hereof; and to make Payment of the said Five hundred Pounds, accordingly: And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Colonel Purbecke Temple, or his Assigns, testifying the Receipt thereof, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the said Sequestrators, and their Treasurers; and to the Tenants of the said Lands; and to such other Person or Persons as shall pay the same.

Delinquents.

Divers Petitions and Letters from the Committees, Grand Jury, and in the Behalf of the Inhabitants of the Four Northern Counties of Northumberland, Cumberland, Westmoreland, and Bishoprick of Durham, were this Day read.

Resolved, &c. That the Four Northern Counties of Northumberland, Cumberland, Westmorland, and Bishoprick of Durham, the Town and County of Newcastle, and Town of Berwicke upon Tweede, respectively, shall have the Sequestrations, Fines, and Compositions of the new Delinquents, and the Sequestrations, Fines, and Compositions, that shall be set and laid upon old Delinquents, for their new Delinquency, within their respective Counties and Places, not yet disposed of, for the Paying and Disbanding of their late-raised Forces, and Discharging other publick Engagements: And that the Particulars, upon which the said Delinquents shall be compounded with, and the Fines set and Compositions made, upon the said Particulars, be returned, from time to time, to Goldsmiths Hall, to the end the House may have Information thereof, as they shall require.

Mr. Fenwicke is appointed to prepare and bring in an Ordinance to this Purpose.

Lancashire Forces.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Gentlemen of the County of Lancaster, and the Gentlemen of Cumberland, and the other Four Northern Counties, to confer together, and consider of giving Satisfaction to the Gentlemen of Lancasheire, touching the Four thousand Pounds to be paid to the Lancasheire Forces, either by giving them Security, to their Satisfaction, for the Payment of the said Four thousand Pounds, or by present Payment thereof: Whereupon those Lancasheire Forces are to withdraw out of those Northern Counties.

Brampton Bryan Church.

Ordered, That, on Friday Morning next, the first Business, the Ordinance concerning the Repair of Brampton Bryan Church, in the County of Hereford, be read.

Message to Lords.

Sir Robert Harley carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, the Names of the Sheriffs for the Counties of Kent, Oxon, Wigorn', Stafford, and Cardigan; and their Adherence to the Sheriffs of Lincolne and Warwickshire: The Order for enabling the Committee of Sequestrations, London, to call the Collectors to accompt: And was to put the Lords in mind of an Order, formerly sent to them, for disposing the Monies payable out of Goldsmiths Hall to the Lord Willoughby, to the Lancasheire Forces: And was to acquaint the Lords, That this House hath examined their Clerks, touching the Abuse complained of by the Lords, in the Proceedings of the Houses: And that the Clerks do positively deny the Knowledge or Doing of any such Thing: And to desire, that the Lords would appoint a Committee of Members of their House to join with a Committee of this House, to examine throughly this whole Business, and whosoever may be concerned therein.

Answer.

Sir Robert Harley brings Answer, that the Lords do agree to the Order for enabling the Committee of Sequestrations, London, to call the Collectors to accompt.

Petition from Essex.

Ordered, That the Essex Petition be read on Saturday Morning next.

Nomination of Sheriffs.

The Question being propounded, That John Elliott Esquire be High Sheriff of the County of Cornwall;

And the Question being put, That the said Question be now put;

It passed with the Negative.

The Question being propounded, That it be re-committed touching John Elliott Esquire, being nominated High Sheriff of the County of Cornwall:

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and approve of Peter Jenkyns Esquire to be High Sheriff of the County of Cornewall: And that the Commissioners for the Great Seal of England do issue out a Commission to him to be Sheriff of the said County, accordingly.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

The Question being propounded, That Sir Arthur Ingram be High Sheriff of the County of Derby;

And the Question being put, That that Question be now put;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and approve of Anthony Morewood, of Alforton in the County of Derby, Esquire, to be High Sheriff of the County of Derby: And that the Commissioners for the Great Seal, &c.

Letter from Yorke.

Ordered, That the Letter from the Committee of the County of Yorke be read on Saturday Morning next; and nothing to intervene.

Army.

Ordered, That the Chesheire Troop of Horse be forthwith disbanded.

Sir W. Dicke.

A Letter from the Committee of Estates, from Edinburgh, of the One-and-twentieth of November 1648, in the Behalf of Sir Wm. Dicke, was this Day read.

Resolved, &c. That the Restraint, laid by this House upon the Monies payable, out of Goldsmiths Hall, to Sir Wm. Dick, and others, by Ordinance of Parliament of the Thirteenth of January 1646, be discharged as to Sir Wm. Dick: And that the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall do take care of the Payment of the Monies due and payable unto the said Sir Wm. Dicke, by the said Ordinance, next after the Engagements, made upon those Monies, to the Navy, the Stores, and Lancashier Forces, are first discharged. And the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall is further required to make present Payment of the Sum of One thousand Pounds unto him the said Sir Wm. Dick, to be accounted Part of the said Sum of Nineteen thousand Eleven Pounds Twelve Shillings and Fourpence.
