High Court of Justice.
AN Act for Continuing of the High Court of Justice was this Day read the First and Second time.
Resolved, That the Time of the Continuance of this Act be until the Twenty-ninth of September 1651.
Resolved, That Robert Norwood Esquire, named a Commissioner in an Act of this present Parliament, intituled. An Act for establishing an High Court of Justice, be discharged from sitting or acting any thing in the High Court of Justice, by Force of any Act or Acts of Parliament.
The Question being put, That this Act be ingrossed;
It passed with the Negative.
And the said Act, being put to the Question, passed.
Proceedings against Ld. Howard.
Mr. Nevill reports from the Committee appointed to examine the Business touching the Lord Howard, The Information of Thomas Gell Esquire, according to an Order of Parliament of the Thirtiath of July 1650, against the Lord Howard; as also, the Examinations of Henry Compton, Richard Lord Lumley, John Burton, Moses Perkins, Adam Harris, Thomas Bayle; Moses Perkins' Second Examination.
Mr. Ralegh reports from the said Committee, The Examination of Thomas Adames Esquire: a Letter from Margarett Banister to Alderman Adams; Sir Robert Banister's Discharge; Mrs. Whorwood's Receipt; Mr. Marten Dallison's Examination; the Information given in against the Lord Howard, touching Mr. Parker; the Examination of George Parker; Thomas Hamersley his Examination, Number 24; Major John Serjant his Examination; a Certificate from Justice Atkins.
Mr. Carew reports from the said Committee, the Information of Mr. Thomas Gell against the Lord Howard, touching William Dudley; and the Examinations of Wm. Dudley, Wm. Aylett, Mr. George Mountague, Wm. Caddington (whose Name, Mr. Carew informed, is miswritten, and that it ought to be Cuddrington).
Which were all read.
As also the Examination of Captain Wendy Oxford and Charles Read, Ernestus Carey and Thomas Swain; the Second Examination of Mr. William Dudley; the Examination of Richard Doe, Richard Woodward, Elizabeth the Wife of Jeremy Halfhead, Mary Hawkins.
Which were all likewise read.
Ordered, That the Report touching the Earl of Northumberland be made on Friday Morning next.
Resolved, That this Debate be adjourned until Tuesday Morning next, Eight of Clock.
