Prayers.

Law Promotions.

ORDERED, That Bartholomew Hall Esquire, Attorney of the Dutchy, be admitted to practise within the Bar: And that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal, and the Judges of the several Courts, do take notice hereof; and admit him accordingly.

The Commons of England, assembled in Parliament, taking into Consideration the many Services done to the Commonwealth by William Steele, of Grayes Inn, Esquire, do Order, That the said William Steele be freed from publick Readings; and be, to all Purposes, capable of all Privileges, Places, and Employments, as if he had actually read; and also that the said Mr. Steele have the Privilege to practise within the Bar.

Admiralty Judge.

Ordered, That William Stephens Esquire be, and is hereby, constituted and appointed Judge of the Admiralty, in the place and stead of Dr. Dorislaus, deceased; And that Mr. Attorney General do prepare a Patent, in usual Form, for constituting him Judge of the Admiralty accordingly: And the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal are hereby authorized and required to pass the same under the Great Seal of England.

Thanksgiving Day.

A Declaration touching the Thanksgiving for the Victory, by God's Blessing, obtained against the Rebels in Ireland, and a Narrative of the Particulars touching the same, were this Day read; and, upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be forthwith printed and published.

Ordered, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this House do forthwith cause a proportionable Number of these Declarations to be carried by his Servants, to every Sheriff of the respective Counties and Cities in England, Wales, and Town of Berwick: And that such of his Servants as shall be employed therein, shall be allowed Fourpence per Mile for every Mile that they shall ride in the Execution of this Service.

Ordered, That the Sheriffs of the several Counties, upon Receipt of a competent Number of the Declarations and Act for Observation of the Day of Publick Thanksgiving, be required forthwith to disperse the same to the several Ministers within their respective Counties, to the end Notice may be given thereof in convenient time.

Col. Alured's Claims.

The humble Petition of Colonel John Alured, one of the Members of this House, was this Day read.

Ordered, That Two thousand Pounds be forthwith advanced and paid unto Colonel John Alured, upon Account; And that the said Petition be referred to a Committee; to consider how the said Two thousand Pounds may be speedily advanced and paid accordingly: and to examine the Residue of the Petition; and to present to the House some way how further Reparation may be made unto him for his Losses: Mr. Weaver, Mr. Bond, Sir Wm. Armyn, Mr. Garland, Sir Henry Vane junior, Sir William Strickland, Colonel Jones, Sir James Harrington, Mr. Say, Colonel Bossevile, Mr. Challener, Mr. Robinson, Mr. Thomas Challener, Mr. Oldesworth, Sir John Danvers, Mr. Hallowes, Colonel Purefoy, Sir Henry Myldmay; or any Three of them: And to sit this Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chambers.

Officers of the House.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Officers attending this House be read To-morrow Morning.

Seamen.

Ordered, That the Seamens Petition be read To-morrow Morning.

Petition from Ld. General, &c.

The House being informed, That divers Officers of the Army were at the Door, with a Petition;

They were called in; and presented their Petition.

Which (after the Petitioners were withdrawn) was read; and was intituled thus: "The humble Petition of his Excellency the Lord General, and Council of Officers."

Ordered, That the former Committee to whom the Act touching tender Consciences is committed, do sit de die in diem; and bring in an Act, on Debate of the House, upon the First Proposal in the Petition of the General, and Council of Officers, on Thursday next: And Mr. Holland and Mr. Weaver are to take care thereof: And the Committee are to meet this Afternoon, at Four of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber; and so de die in diem: And Mr. Nathanael Bacon and Mr. Rous are added to that Committee: And all that come shall have Voices.

Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Act for the general Pardon is committed, be required to meet; and to bring in an Act upon the Third Proposal in the said Petition: And that they meet To-morrow in the Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber.-

Regulating the Laws.

Ordered, That the Committee touching the Laws, where the Lord Mounson hath the Chair, do sit this Afternoon; and so de die in diem; and make their Report to the House with all Speed.-

Petitioners thanked.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Speaker do return Thanks to the Petitioners.

The Officers who presented the Petition, being again called in;

Mr. Speaker, by Command of the House, declared to them, That the House hath considered of the Petition; and find . ., in the general Scope, tending to the Good of Religion, and Civil Government: That heretofore the House hath had, and now hath, divers of these Particulars, so judiciously represented in this Petition under Consideration; and hath given Order for the expediting thereof: And that the House hath commanded him to give Thanks to the Petitioners for their good Affections, and Care both for Religion and the Commonwealth: And Mr. Speaker did give the Thanks of the House unto the Petitioners accordingly.

Grant to Jones.

Ordered, That the Act of Lieutenant General Jones be reported To-morrow Morning.

Pyne's Accompts.

Ordered, That the Certificate of the Committee of the County of Somersett, touching Colonel John Pyne's Accompts be referred to the Committee of Accompts at Worcester House: And the said Committee are to examine and state the said Accompts of the said Colonel John Pyne, according to the Rules given to them the Twentyeighth of May last; and to give Debenture for what shall appear to be due to him.

Mr. Blakiston's Claims.

Mr. Holland reports Amendments to an Act for Three thousand Five hundred Pounds to the Wife and Children of Mr. John Blakiston: Which were twice read; and, upon the Question, assented unto.

And the said Act, so amended, being put to the Question, passed.
