Prayers.

Thanks for Sermons.

ORDERED, That the Thanks of this House be returned unto Mr. Owen, for his great Pains taken in his Sermon, preached before this House Yesterday, in Christ Church, London, being the Day appointed for Publick Thanksgiving: And that he be desired to print his Sermon: And that he have the like Privilege in printing the same, as others in like case have usually had.

Ordered, That Mr. Allen do give Thanks to Mr. Owen accordingly.

Ordered, That the Lord Munson do make his Report from Goldsmiths Hall, To-morrow Morning, the first Business; nothing to intervene.

Ministers Maintenance.

An Act providing Maintenance for Ministers, and other pious Uses, was this Day read the Third time.

A Proviso was tendered to the said Act, That the said Act extend not to make void an Act of this present Parliament, intituled, An Act for the Settling of the Rectory or Parsonage House of Burford in the County of Oxon, and some of the Glebe Lands, on William Lenthall Esquire, now Speaker, and his Heirs.

Which Proviso was twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto; and ordered to be Part of the said Act.

A Proviso, That Five hundred and Sixty Pounds per Annum, formerly paid towards the Maintenance of the Ministers of the City and Close of Sarum, out of Dean and Chapters Lands, be continued unto them, and their Successors, was tendered to the said Act.

Which Proviso was this Day read the First time.

And the Question being put, That the said Proviso be read the Second time;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Proviso was, upon the Question, rejected.

A Proviso was tendered to the said Act, For Allowance of Three hundred Pounds per Annum, out of the Revenues settled by this Act, for Maintenance of Two Preaching Ministers for the City of Winchester in the County of Southampton.

Which was this Day read the First time.

And the Question being put, That the said Act be read the Second time;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Proviso was, upon the Question, rejected.

A Proviso was tendered to the said Act, For one hundred Pounds a Year a-piece to be settled upon Dr. Peter Du Molin, Mr. Hartlipp, Peter Sterry, Mr. Tho. Foxley, and Mr. John Owen, out of the Means settled by that Act.

Which Proviso was read the First time.

And the Question being put, for reading the said Proviso the Second time;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Proviso was, upon the Question, rejected.

A Proviso was tendered to the said Act, That One hundred Pounds per Annum, settled on the Town of Marleborough in the County of Wilts, be continued.

Which was this Day read the First time.

And the Question being put, That the said Proviso be read the Second time;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Proviso was, upon the Question, rejected.

A Proviso was tendered to the said Act, That the said Act do not extend to the extinguishing the Estate of Wm. Stephens Esquire, in the Tythes and Tenths formerly belonging to the Prebend of Colwich in the County of Stafford.

Which was this Day read the First time.

And the Question being put, That the said Proviso be read the Second time;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Proviso was, upon the Question, rejected.

A Proviso was tendered to the said Act, That the Trustees in this Act pay unto such Preaching Minister or Ministers as shall be appointed, by Authority of Parliament, for the Town of New Windsor, Two hundred Pounds a Year, during the Pleasure of the Parliament.

Which was this Day read the First time.

And the Question being put, For reading the said Proviso the Second time;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Proviso was, upon the Question, rejected.

And the said Act, being put to the Question, passed. And

It is Ordered, That the said Act be forthwith printed and published.

Grant to Molin, &c.

An Act for settling One hundred Pounds per Annum a-piece upon Peter Du Molin, Mr. Hartlipp, Peter Sterrey, Mr. Tho. Foxley, and Mr. John Owen, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to the Members of this House that are of the Committee of Goldsmiths Hall, or any Five of them.

Committee added.

Ordered, That Sir John Bouchier be added to the Committee of Goldsmiths Hall.

Universities.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for regulating the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, to take into their Consideration the Placing of Mr. Thomas Goodwyn in some Headship of a College in one of the said Universities, with respect to his great Learning and Worth.

Ordered, That the same Committee have Power to nominate and appoint Visitors in either of the Universities, where they are wanting.

Ministers Maintenance.

Ordered, That Mr. Salway do report the declaratory Act touching the Maintenance of Ministers, on Wednesday next.

Sir John Danvers.

Ordered, That the Report touching Sir John Danvers be made on Thursday.

Entertainment of the House by the City.

Mr. Speaker, by way of Report, doth acquaint the House, That, according to the former Resolution of this House, the Lord Mayor and Aldermen of the City of London, at their Reception, meeting of the Speaker and Members Yesterday, did deliver, into the Hands of the Speaker, the Sword borne before the Lord Mayor: And the Speaker having received it, did re-deliver the same to the Lord Mayor, according to that Resolution.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth take in very good Part, the great Respects performed Yesterday, in the City, by the Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and Common Council, to the Speaker and Members of this House: And that the hearty Thanks of this House be given to the Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and Common Council, for the same, by Mr. Alderman Penington, Mr. Alderman Atkin, Mr. Alderman Wilson, and Colonel Ven.

Ordered, That it be referred to a Committee, to consider of some Mark of Favour and Respect to be done, by this House, to the City of London: Viz. unto Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Allen, Mr. Salway, Sir H. Vane senior, Major General Skippon, Sir Hen. Vane junior, Mr. Garland, Commissary General Ireton, Lieutenant General Cromwell, Colonel Marten, Sir James Harrington, Mr. Snelling, Mr. Love, Mr. Stephens, Mr. Gurdon, Mr. Leman; or any Five of them: And they are to meet this Afternoon, in the Queen's Court.

Invalid Soldiers, &c.

Mr. Garland reports from the Committee of Hospitals, the Resolutions of that Committee, touching maimed Soldiers, Widows and Orphans of Soldiers slain in War.

Resolved, &c. That Two hundred and Sixty Pounds per Week be added, to make up the former Allowance of Three hundred Pounds per Week the Sum of Five hundred and Sixty Pounds per Week, to pay all Occasions.

Resolved, &c. That One hundred and Thirty Pounds per Week be paid out of the Excise, towards the said Five hundred and Sixty Pounds per Week for the poor maimed Soldiers, and the Widows and Orphans, besides the Two hundred Pounds per Week formerly charged on that Receipt.

Resolved, &c. That One hundred and Thirty Pounds per Week be paid out of the Receipts of Goldsmiths Hall, towards the said Five hundred and Sixty Pounds per Week, for the poor maimed Soldiers, and Widows and Orphans, besides the One hundred Pounds per Week formerly charged on that Receipt.

Ordered, That the Arrears of the One hundred Pounds per Week to maimed Soldiers, formerly charged upon the Sequestrations at Guildhall, shall be paid out of that Treasury: And the Committee for Hospitals be authorized to send for the Treasurers of that Receipt; and see the same done accordingly.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to send for the Treasurers for Sequestrations at Guildhall; and to examine the State of their Receipts and Accompts; and consider, Whether any Part of that Five hundred and Sixty Pounds per Week may be hereafter charged upon that Receipt; and report it to the House.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider, Whether the Six hundred Pounds, laid out by the Treasurers for maimed Soldiers, &c. and Five hundred Pounds to provide Linen, Coal, Bedding, and for Reparations of Ely House, may be charged on that Receipt; and report it to the House.

Excise.

Ordered, That the Act touching the first One hundred thousand Pounds upon the Excise be read on Monday Morning next.

Hospitals.

Ordered, That the Act for reforming and regulating Hospitals be read on Monday Morning the first Business.
