Sheriff of Hants.

RESOLVED, &c. That John Hooke Esquire, of Bramshett, be nominated and approved of to be High Sheriff of the County of Hants, instead of Robert Jason Esquire.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Delinquents.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Army, to bring in an Ordinance for enabling the Commissioners sent down into the several Counties of South Wales and Monmouth, to proceed upon the Sequestring of Delinquents in the said Counties; and to remove Obstructions by reason of an Order or Orders issued from the Committee of Lords and Commons for Sequestrations, and of an Ordinance granted to certain Commissioners in Wales, hindering their Proceedings therein; and to continue the Power of the said Commissioners to proceed in Sequestring the Estates of Delinquents in the said County.

Colonel Ven is to take care hereof.

Ordered, That Colonel Bosevile, Mr. Blakiston, Mr. Garland, Mr. Humphry Edwards, Mr. Trenchard, Sir Gregory Norton, Mr. * Clement, Lord Mounson, Colonel Stapley, Mr. Smyth, Mr. Cawley, Lieutenant-General Cromwell, Mr. Carey, Sir Wm. Constable, Mr. Blagrave, Colonel Moore, Mr. Love, Mr. Frye, Colonel Downes, Colonel Purefoy, be added to the Committee of the Army.

Goldsmith's Hall Committee.

Ordered, That Lord Grey, Alderman Atkins, Mr. Thomas Boone, Mr. Harby, Colonel Wayte, Mr. Nicolas Gould, Mr. John Corbett, Colonel Thompson, Mr. Gregory Clement, Mr. Augustine Garland, Colonel Purefoy, Sir Wm. Allenson, Lord Mounson, Mr. Blagrave, and Mr. Fry, be added to the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall.

Court for trying the King.

Mr. Henry Marten reports the Amendments to the Ordinance touching the King: Which were read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

And the Ordinance, being put to the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

The Lord Grey is to carry it to the Lords.

King levying War against Parliament.

Resolved, &c. That the and Commons, in Parliament assembled, do declare and adjudge, That, by the fundamental Laws of this Kingdom, it is Treason in the King of England, for the Time being, to levy War against the Parliament and Kingdom of England.

Publick Revenue.

This Committee, or any Three of them, are to consider of the Anticipations upon Goldsmiths Hall, the Excise, and other Treasuries; and how to take off, or otherwise secure and satisfy, the said Anticipations; and to prevent Obstructions in the Bringing in of the several Revenues: With Power to send for Persons, Papers, Witnesses, Records.

A Letter from Henry Elsynge Esquire, Clerk of this House, of the Twenty-seventh of December 1648, touching the Leaving of the Disposal of his said Office to the Pleasure of this House.

Ordered, That Mr. Phelpes be and is hereby appointed Clerk Assistant to Henry Elsinge Esquire, Clerk of this House: And that Mr. Phelpes do sign in Mr. Elsyng's Name.

Parliamentary Records.

This Committee, or any Three of them, are to send to Mr. Elsynge; Clerk of this House: and to take an Account, Where the Books and Records of this House are: And are to inventory the said Books and Records; and to present the said Inventory to this House: With Power also to present the Names of fit and able Persons, that a sufficient Clerk may be elected out of them to be Clerk of this House. And

Clerk Assistant.

It is further Ordered, That the Petition of Ralph Darnall, Clerk Assistant to this House, be referred to the said Committee; to consider, How the Moiety of the Monies formerly ordered to the said Ralph Darnall, out of the Arrears of Two Subsidies granted in May 1641, may be charged in some Way for his further Security of the said Monies: And he is to propose such Ways to the said Committee to that End, as he shall think fit: And the said Committee are to report their Opinions thereupon to this House forthwith.

Whereas, by Order of 2 Augusti 1648, the Sum of Five hundred Pounds was ordered to be forthwith paid to Ralph Darnall Esquire, Clerk Assistant to this House, or his Assigns, out of the Arrears of the late Court of Wards, by the Committee of the Revenue; whereof no Part is yet paid: It is Ordered, by the Commons, in Parliament assembled, That the said Committee be, and are hereby, required to make present Payment of the Sum of Two hundred Pounds, Part of the said Five hundred Pounds, to the said Ralph Darnall, or his Assigns: And that the said Committee do put the same in such a Way, as that the said Two hundred Pounds be forthwith paid unto the said Ralph Darnall, or his Assigns, accordingly.

Army.

Whereas the Sum of Six thousand Pounds, for which Colonel Welden, Governor of Plymouth, stands engaged to the Inhabitants of the said Town of Plymouth, for Billet and Quarter of the Soldiery of that Garison, is assigned to be satisfied to Colonel Weldon, out of the Excise, and charged upon the Receipts of the Excise, with Interest, after Eight Pounds per Centum, payable every Six Months: And whereas the Committee for the Army have, in pursuance of an Order of this House on 30 Maii last, issued out Warrants for Payment of Six thousand Pounds, out of the Assessments of Sixty thousand Pounds per mensem in the County of Devon, unto Colonel Weldon, to discharge the said Engagements: It is now Ordered, That the said Six thousand Pounds, charged, as aforesaid, upon the Receipts of the Excise, with Interest, be assigned to the Army: And that the Principal Money be paid, as it shall grow due, in Course, unto the Treasurers at War, for the Use of the Army: And that the Interest for the said Six thousand Pounds be paid every Six Months, unto such Person or Persons as the Committee of Lords and Commons for the Army shall appoint: And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the Persons appointed to receive the same, as aforesaid, shall be a sufficient Discharge to the Commissioners of the Excise, and every of them, for Payment thereof, as aforesaid. And, upon the taking Effect of this Order, the former Order of 30 Maii 1648, touching the Payment of the said Money, is hereby revoked.
