Ld. Howard's Liberation.

RESOLVED, That the Letter and Petition from Edward Lord Howard be now read.

A Letter from Edward Lord Howard, from the Tower, of the Sixth of August 1651: With the Petition inclosed, which was intituled, The humble Petition of Edward Lord Howard, Prisoner in the Tower; with the Certificate of Dr. Mayerne, of the Fourth of August 1651; were all this Day read.

The Question being propounded, That Edward Lord Howard be discharged of his Imprisonment in the Tower; and that Mr. Speaker grant his Warrant accordingly;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went forth.

So it was Resolved, That Edward Lord Howard be discharged of his Imprisonment in the Tower: And that Mr. Speaker grant his Warrant accordingly.

Ld. Grey.

Ordered, That a Committee be named, to consider of the Charges expended by the Lord Grey, in his great Service done against the Scotts when they last came, and other Services for the Publick; and consider how he may have Satisfaction, and some Mark of Favour and Respect, from the Parliament, for his great Services; and report it to the House: Viz. unto Mr. Ralegh, Colonel Morley, Mr. Love, Lord Commissioner Whitelock, Mr. Attorney General, Mr. Leman, Lord Viscount Lisle, Colonel Purefoy, Colonel Downes, Mr. Blagrave, Sir Wm. Masham, Mr. Trenchard, Sir John Hippisley, Mr. Edwards, Colonel Fleetwood, Mr. Dove, Lord Commissioner Lisle, Mr. Scott, Mr. Garland, Mr. Ashe, Mr. Say, Mr. Lowry; or any Three of them: And this Committee are to meet in the Speaker's Chamber at Two of the Clock this Afternoon; and so de die in diem.

Sir J. Gell.

The humble Petition of Sir John Gell, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Lieutenant of the Tower of London be authorized and required to give Leave to Sir John Gell to go to the Bath, for Recovery of his Health, upon Security first taken by the said Lieutenant, with Sureties in the Sum of Five thousand Pounds, for his Return and Submission to the Tower on or by the last Day of October next.

Carmen.

An Act to incorporate the Carmen of London, Southwark, and the Parts adjacent in and nigh to the said City of London, to be a distinct Company from the Fellowship and Company of Woodmongers, was this Day read the First time; and ordered to be read the Second time This-day-fortnight.

Ambassadors.

An Act, prohibiting Ambassadors, and publick Ministers, from taking any Pension, Gift, Reward, or Honorary, from any Foreign State or Prince, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto Lord Commissioner Whitelock, Mr. Attorney, Lord Grey, Sir John Bourchier, Mr. * Challoner, Mr. Moyle, Lord Viscount Lisle, Mr. Ralegh, Mr. Carew, Colonel Morley, Mr. Scott, Mr. Sey, Sir John Trevor, Mr. Strickland, Lord Commissioner Lisle, Sir Wm. Masham, Mr. Hussey, Sir Wm. Brereton, Mr. Stephens, Mr. Ja. Chaloner, Sir Peter Wentworth, Sir Wm. Strickland, Alderman Pennyngton, Lord Chief Justice of Common Pleas, Colonel Downes, Sir Thomas Jervoice; or any Five of them: And all that come to have Voices: And this Committee are to meet this Afternoon at Two of Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber; and so de die in diem.
