Prayers.

Council of State.

THE House took into Debate the Instructions to be given to the Council of State for the Year ensuing.

And, accordingly, the Instructions given the last Year were all read, at large; and afterwards every particular Instruction read; and put to the Question.

Resolved, That, in the Second Instruction, next after the Words " by Sea or Land," these Words be added, "raised, or to be raised by Authority of Parliament, for the Service of this Commonwealth, in England, Ireland, Scotland, and the Dominions of them, or either of them, or elsewhere."

And the Word "any," next before the Word "Emergencies," being, by Order, upon the Question, left out; these Words, "in such Cases," added in the last Clause;

That Instruction, being so amended, was, upon the Question, passed.

The Fourth Instruction being read;

It was Resolved, That it be referred to a Committee, to consider what is fit to be done, that the Stores and Magazines of all military Provisions, both for Sea and Land Service, may be, from time to time, well and sufficiently supplied and furnished; and to present their Opinions to the House: Viz. unto Mr. Holland. Captain Smyth, Colonel Thompson, Colonel Marten, Mr. Ralegh, Major General Harrison, Mr. Edwards, Mr. Clement, Mr. James Challoner, Sir Peter Wentworth, Sir Gilbert Pickering, Mr. Blagrave, Sir Michaell Livesey, Mr. Robinson, Mr. Strickland, Mr. Bond, Mr. Long, Sir John Hippisley, Mr. Carey, Colonel Harvey, Mr. Dormer; or any Three of them.

And Mr. Holland is to take care thereof; and to bring in their Report on Thursday Morning.

The Second Clause of the same Instruction, being also read, was, upon the Question, agreed.

Resolved, That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider of the Business touching Repairing and Building of Shipping; and to offer any Proposals to the House, for the better managing that Business for the Service of the Commonwealth; and to report the same to the House.

Sir Henry Vane junior, Sir Wm. Armyn, Colonel Purefoy, and Colonel Bossevile, are added to that Committee.

Resolved, That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider, upon the Debate of the House, touching fit Places for Harbouring of Ships, and Victualing them in such Harbours, for easing the Charge, and for greater Advantage, of the publick Service.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State, to dispose of Worcester House, and the Yards and Gardens thereunto belonging, for the best Carrying-on of the publick Service of the Commonwealth.
