Prayers.
Delinquents Estates.
THE House, according to former Order, did this Day resume the Debate upon the Bill for Sale of Delinquents Estates.
Resolved, That the Time for Persons to put in their Claims to the Lands comprised in this Bill, be before the Twenty-fourth of June 1651.
Fee-farm Rents.
An additional Act for the Sale of Fee-farm Rents, and for the Doubling of Monies thereupon, was this Day read the Third time.
A Proviso was tendered to the said Act, "That the Trustees, Contractors, Treasurer, Register, and Comptroller, shall have and receive only Two-pence upon every Pound, so contracted for, upon Doubling, presently at the Making of the said Contract, which shall be allowed in part of the Sum contracted for, to be in lieu of the Salaries for themselves, and their Clerks; and to be distributed amongst them, according to the Direction of the first-recited Act:" Which was this Day read the First time.
And the Question being put, That this Proviso be read the Second time;
It passed with the Affirmative.
The said Proviso was accordingly read the Second time; and, upon the Question, assented unto, and ordered to be Part of the said Bill.
A Proviso was tendered to the said Act, "That if any Person shall discover any Bill or Bills, that shall be doubled by virtue of this Act, to be counterseit, or to have been formerly satisfied; that then the said Person or Persons, upon such Discovery, shall receive a Third Part of the said doubled Money, so discovered:" Which was this Day read the First time.
And the Question being put, That this Proviso be read the Second time;
It passed with the Negative.
And the said Bill, so amended, being put to the Question, passed: And
It is Ordered, to be forthwith printed and published.
Army Pay, &c.
Sir Wm. Armyn reports from the Council of State, "That the Council having considered the Order of Parliament made the Fifteenth of January (referring it to them to take into Consideration how the Charge of additional Pay, Billet Money, and Led Horses, may be abated, or wholly taken away) do find, That by reason of the Shortness of Time, which is left for the Consideration of a Business of so great Concernment, occasioned by reason that the Warrants for the next Month's Pay of the said Monies are now to be issued out; they are not as yet ready to give an Account thereof to the Parliament: And do therefore offer it to the Parliament, if they shall think fit, that the Allowances of Billet Money, &c. may be continued for one Month longer, from the Six-and-twentieth of this Instant; to the end it may be taken into further Consideration."
Resolved, by the Parliament, That the additional Pay, Billet Money, and Led Horses, be continued for One Month longer, from the Six-and-twentieth of this Instant February 1650.
Ordered, That the Council of State be and are enjoined to give an Account, to this House, of this Business, touching abating, or taking away, of additional Pay, Billet Money, and Led Horses, before the Six-andtwentieth Day of this instant February.
Delinquents Estates.
Ordered, That the Debate upon the Amendments to the Bill for Sale of Delinquents Estates, be taken up Tomorrow, next after the Business touching the Election of the Council of State be ended.
Gift to Smyth.
Ordered, That the Sum of Fifty Shillings be bestowed upon the Two Children of Widow Smyth, out of the Box: And that the Serjeant at Arms do forthwith pay the said Fifty Shillings to the Use of the said Children, accordingly.
Sheriff of Kent.
Ordered, That George Curtis Esquire, nominated Sheriff of Kent, do take out his Commission within Six Days; and take upon him the Execution of the said Office, upon Pain of One thousand Pounds, to be levied out of his Estate, to the Use of the Commonwealth.
