Prayers.

Ld. Pawlett, &c.

ORDERED, That Mr. Ash do make his Report on Thursday next, the first Business, touching the Lord Pawlett, and the Town of Lyme.

Parsons', &c. Claims.

Mr. Knightley reports from the Committee of Lords and Commons for Ireland, touching Captain Wm. Parsons, the Lord Castlesteward, and Sir Arthur Blundell.

Ordered, That the Sum of One thousand Ninety-two Pounds Twelve Shillings and Six-pence be forthwith paid unto Captain Wm. Parsons, or his Assigns, for his good Service and Faithfulness to the Parliament, and for Supply of his present Wants, by the Treasurers for Sequestrations, at Guildhall, London, in Course; being the Moiety of Two thousand One hundred Eighty-five Pounds Five Shillings, appearing to be disbursed by him: And that the like Sum of One thousand Ninety-two Pounds Twelve Shillings and Sixpence, the other Moiety of the said Two thousand One hundred Eighty-five Pounds Five Shillings, be paid to the said Captain William Parsons, or his Assigns, out of such Delinquents Estates, as he shall discover in this Kingdom, not formerly seized on by any Committee. And

It is further Ordered, That the Sum of One thousand One hundred Thirteen Pounds, due to the said Captain Wm. Parsons, for Interest for the said Money, shall be paid unto the said Captain William Parsons, or his Assigns, out of Delinquents or Rebels Estates in the Kingdom of Ireland: And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Captain Wm. Parsons, or his Assigns, for Receipt of the said One thousand Ninety-two Pounds Twelve Shillings and Six-pence, or any Part thereof, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge unto the Treasurers for Sequestrations, or such other Person or Persons as shall pay the same.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Ordered, That the Sum of Nine hundred Forty Pounds Three Shillings One Peny Halfpenny be paid, out of the Excise, in Course, to Sir Adam Loftus Treasurer at War, for the Use of the Lord Castlesteward: And that the Lord Castlesteward do take care to satisfy Sir Arthur Blundell all such Debts as are to him owing, for Goods, Plate, or Monies, brought in and used for the Garison of Fort Folkland: And if the said Sir Arthur Blundell can make any Discovery of Delinquents Estates not yet discovered, whereby the said Nine hundred Forty Pounds Three Shillings and One Peny Halfpeny, with Interest, or the Interest thereof, may be paid; the same shall be paid to the said Sir Arthur Blundell, out of the said Discovery.

Sykes' Claims.

Colonel Bossevile reports from the Committee of the Northern. Association, the Demand of Interest made by Wm. Sykes, of Hull, Merchant.

The humble Petition of Wm. Sykes, of Hull, Merchant, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Sum of Three hundred Fifty Pounds Part of Seven hundred Seventy-eight Pounds Ten Shillings Three-pence, be forthwith paid unto Wm. Sykes, or his Assigns; and be charged at Haberdashers Hall: And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Wm. Sykes, or his Assigns; for Payment thereof, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the said Committee, or such other Person or Persons as shall pay the same.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee at Haberdashers Hall, to use the best Means they can, to discharge the said Wm. Sykes out of Execution; he being in Execution for Interest for Money procured by him for the Parliament.

Ordered, That the Remainder of the said Debt of Seven hundred Seventy-eight Pounds Ten Shillings and Threepence be paid unto the said Wm. Sykes; or his Assigns; and be charged upon the Excise, in Course: And an Ordinance to be brought in to that Purpose.

Isle of Ely.

Sir Harbottle Grimston reports an Ordinance for Raising of a Troop of Horse, consisting of Sixty, under the Command of Colonel John Lambert, for the Guard and Safety of the Isle of Ely; and for raising of Seventy Pounds per Week, for Six Months, from the Sixth of July 1648, for the Maintenance of the said Troop: . . . . was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Sir Robert Pye is to carry it to the Lords.

Delinquents Estates.

Colonel Moore reports Amendments to the Ordinance for the further and better regulating the Sequestrations of Papists and Delinquents Estates: Which Amendments were twice read; and, upon the Question, re-committed to the former Committee: And the said Committee are to report the same To-morrow Morning: And the particular Care of this Ordinance is referred to Mr. Wheeler and Mr. Lechmere.

Babington's Petition.

Ordered, That Mrs. Babington's Petition be read Tomorrow Morning.

Excise.

Ordered, That an Ordinance be brought in, to enable the Commissioners of Excise to pay the Interest for such Arms and Ammunition, as the Committee of the Army shall take up upon the Credit of the Ordinance for One hundred Fifty thousand Pounds; which is to be deducted out of the Principal Money, when the same shall become due.

Colonel Ven is to bring in the Ordinance.

Parke's Claims.

An Ordinance for Allowance unto Reuben Parke, Two hundred Pounds, upon his Account, in the Exchequer, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Reduced Officers.

Mr. Nelthorpe reports an Order from the Committee of the Northern Association, touching the reduced Officers under the Command of Ferdinando late Lord Fairefax; which are contained in a List, bearing Date 5 Martii 1648, beginning with the Name of Major Joshua Greathead, and ending with Ensign Robert Marshall; containing in Number, One hundred Fifteen; and resting with the Northern Committee.

Ordered, That the Sum of Four thousand Pounds be allowed for the Disbursements of the reduced Officers, late under the Command of Ferdinando late Lord Fairefax, deceased: And that the same be paid to the said reduced Officers, or their Assigns; and be charged upon Goldsmiths Hall, in Course: And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said reduced Officers, or their Assigns, testifying the Receipt thereof, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the Treasurer at Goldsmiths Hall, or such other Person or Persons as shall pay the same.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Ordered, That the Sum of Three thousand Five hundred Twenty-six Pounds and Twelve Shillings, Part of Twenty-seven thousand Ninety-two Pounds Thirteen Shillings One Peny Farthing, due to the said reduced Officers, late under the Command of Ferdinando late Lord Fairefax, deceased, be paid unto the said Officers; and charged upon the Excise, in Course: And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Officers, or their Assigns, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the Commissioners of Excise, for Payment thereof.

Ordered, That an Ordinance be brought in, for Payment of the Residue of the Monies due to the said reduced Officers, late under the Command of Ferdinando Lord Fairefax, deceased: And that the said Officers have the same Security for the same, as the other Soldiers of the Army have.

Ordered, That the said reduced Officers, late under the Command of Ferdinando Lord Fairefax, deceased, have Interest for Two Months Pay (viz. Three thousand Five hundred Twenty-six Pounds Twelve Shillings) paid them out of such Discoveries of Delinquents Estates as they shall make, not already discovered.

The humble Petition of several reduced Officers, contained in Four Lists, in Number Three hundred Twenty, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Petitioners do consider of, and find out some way for Payment and Satisfaction of the Sum of Fifteen thousand Pounds to them due for their Arrears, in lieu of such Delinquents as were formerly assigned to them for Payment thereof, and since otherwife disposed of by the House; and present the same to the House.

Ordered, That the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall do forthwith pay unto the Three hundred Twenty reduced Officers contained in Four Lists, for the Arrears for the Interest of Thirty thousand Seven hundred Pounds, being a third Part of their Debt owing to them; and of what other Interest shall grow due for the same, until the said Principal Money be paid.

Sir Samuell Luke to bring in an Ordinance to that Purpose.

Ordered, That Mr. John Goodwyn do bring in the Ordinance formerly granted to the Three hundred Twenty reduced Officers, contained in Four Lists, for Sale of Delinquents Lands, in case they should not compound, This-day-sevennight.

Ramsbury, &c. Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Inhabitants of Ramsbury, and the Petition of the Town of Farringdon and Westbrooke in the County of Berks, be referred to the Committee for Burnings: And that the said Committee do make their Reports This-day-sevennight. And

It is further Ordered, That the said Committee do fit To-morrow in the Afternoon, in the Exchequer Chamber; and so de die in diem.

Nottingham, Assessment.

An Ordinance for Raising and Levying of Money in the County of Nottingham, not exceeding the Sum of One thousand Pounds per mensem, was this Day read the First time; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Sir Wm. Lister is to carry it to the Lords.

Herbert's Claims.

An Ordinance for Payment of Seven hundred Thirty Pounds and Four Shillings unto Colonel Wm. Herbert, out of the Receipts of the Grand Excise, in Course, with Interest for the same, after the Rate of Eight per Cent. payable every Six Months, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Sir Robert Harley is to carry it to the Lords.

Westminster, &c. Militia.

The House being informed, that divers Gentlemen of the Militia of Westminster were at the Door;

They were called in, and presented a Petition: Which (when the Petitioners were withdrawn) was read; and was intituled, "The humble Petition of the several Militias of Westminster, Hamlets of the Tower, and Borough of Southwark."

Ordered, That the Petition of the several Militias of Westminster, Hamlets of the Tower, and Borough of Southwark, be referred to the Committee formerly appointed to consider touching the Joining of the Militias of London and Westminster, Hamlets of the Tower, and Borough of Southwark; to consider of the several Reasons given in the said Petition; and present their Opinions thereupon to the House: With Power to the said Committee, to examine on both Sides the Abuses done in procuring Subscriptions to the Petitions formerly presented to this House, touching the said Militias: And that the said Committee make Report thereof to the House, between Ten and Twelve of Clock.

The Petitioners being again called in; Mr. Speaker, by Command of the House, gave them this Answer;

Gentlemen,

The House has read your Petition; and have considered of your constant good Affections; and have found you serviceable and faithful to them; and have also found much Sincerity in your Actions; and therefore give you Thanks: And they have referred your Petition to a Committee; to take your Reasons therein given into Consideration; and to examine the Abuses in procuring Hands to Petitions formerly presented to this House.

Committees to the City.

Ordered, That Mr. Lechmore be added to the Committee that are appointed to go to the City of London: And that Mr. Gott, Mr. Recorder, Dr. Bond, Sir John Palgrave, Mr. Gould, Mr. Wheeler, Sir Peter Wentworth, Mr. Beddingfield, and Mr. Crowther, be also added to the said Committee.

Letters, &c. from Prince of Wales.

Mr. Lechmore reports the Letters and Commissions taken in the Frigate, with Captain Greene, and the Instructions given to him.

Ordered, That the Letters, Commissions, and Instruction, now reported by Mr. Lechmore, be opened, and communicated, by the Committee appointed to go to the City of London, to the Common Council of the City of London.
