Answer from Lords.
Mr. Thorpe brings Answer from the Lords, That they do agree to the Ordinance for settling the Militia in the Northern Association; to the Ordinance for putting Papists and Malignants out of the Lines of Communication, and Twenty Miles Distance; to the Ordinance for authorizing Colonel White to pay Five thousand Pounds, formerly assigned upon the Excise, for Major General Pointes his Soldiers.

The Serjeant is appointed to go to the Committee at Derby House, to call the Members of this House, to come to the House presently.
Raising Money.
Mr. Annesley is appointed to go to the Lords with the Ordinance concerning the Advance of Fifty thousand Pounds, for the Service of Ireland.

The Lords have received a Report from the Earl of Northumberland, concerning the Desires of the Gentlemen of Surrey: Which they do recommend unto this House; with their Sense upon them.
The said Desires, and the Lords Sense upon them, were read.
Resolved, &c. That the Answer to this Message shall be, That they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.
Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and will send Answer by Messengers of their own.
Parliament Guards.
Resolved, &c. That the Orders of Restraint, whereby the Forces of Horse and Foot, at the Mewes, Whitehall, and the Tower, are continued here for Guards to the Parliament, be taken off.
Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee at Derby House, immediately to dispose of, and employ the Forces at . . . Mewes, Whitehall, and the Tower, in such manner as they shall think fit, for suppressing all Insurrections, Tumults, and Risings, in Kent, and in the Parts near and adjacent about the City.
Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee at Derby House, to send to the Lord General, to send up such Forces as shall be thought fitting, for reinforcing and assisting these Forces, as Occasion shall require; and, if need be, to desire the General to come in Person upon this Service.

This Committee is appointed to go to meet and advise with the Common Council, and with the Committee of the Militia of London, upon all Ways and Means for the safe Sitting of the Parliament, and for the Preservation and Defence of the City, and Preventing and Suppressing of all Tumults and Risings in or about the City: And they are presently to go upon this Service: And that they continue upon this Service till further Order.
Sir Henry Vane junior reports the Draught of a Letter to be sent to the General, from the House; and signed by Mr. Speaker: the which was read.
Presbyterial Government.
The Question was propounded, That the Presbyterial Government in the Church be settled for the Term of Three Years:
And the Question being put, That this Addition be made unto it; viz. "and so continued, until the King, Lords, and Commons, shall alter it;"

Loan from the City.
Resolved, &c. That Power be given to the Committee appointed to go to the City, to press them to advance ready Monies for the present Marching of the Forces now appointed to be employed for the suppressing the Tumults and Risings in Kent, and Places near and adjacent to the City of London.
Militia.
Ordered, That the Debate of the Business concerning the Settling of the Militia, be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Ordinance from Woolwich.
Resolved, &c. That this House doth approve of what Colonel Thompson and Mr. Snelling have done, in ordering the Ordnance in Woolwich Yard to be brought up, and secured in the Tower of London.
Transactions with Scotland.
A Letter from the Commissioners of both Houses, residing in Scotland, of 19 Maii 1648, with Two Papers inclosed: the one delivered in with the Votes of both Houses 6 Maii 1648; the other, the Answer of the Commissioners unto the several Papers of the Second and Tenth of May instant, sent to them from the Parliament of Scotland; were read.
Resolved, &c. That this House doth approve of what the Commissioners have delivered in these Papers to the Committee of Estates of Scotland; and do refer it to the Committee at Derby House, to prepare a Letter, to be signed by Mr. Speaker, and sent to the Commissioners to communicate unto them this Approbation.
