Prayers.

Prisoners taken in Wales.

ORDERED, That it be referred to the Committee Yesterday appointed for the Gratuity to be given to Colonel Horton, and the Officers of his Brigade, to consider, How the Soldiers, taken Prisoners in the late Rout in South Wales may be disposed of to the best Advantage, and for the Safety of the Kingdom; with the Addition of Colonel Moore, Colonel Popham, Mr. Rous, Lord Mounson, Sir John Bouchier, Mr. Oldisworth, Sir Rich. Lewsey, Mr. Waller, Sir John Northcott, Mr. Hallowes, Colonel Ashton, Sir John Bamfeild, Mr. Bond, Colonel Rosseter: And the Care of this Business is more particularly referred to Colonel Moore.

Tryal of Rioters in Wales.

Ordered, That a Commission of Oyer and Terminer be issued forthwith, under the Great Seal, to the Justices of Assize of the * Circuit, Mr. Eltonhead, and Mr. Parker, and others, to try the late Rioters, in South Wales: And that the said Mr. Parker and Mr. Eltonhead be desired forthwith to go down upon that Service: And that Mr. Evan Seys be appointed to manage the Evidence, and prosecute the Tryal: And that it be referred to the Committee of the Revenue, to defray the Charge and Expences of the said Mr. Eltonhead, Mr. Parke, and Mr. Seyse, expended in this Service: And Mr. Henry Herbert is desired to take care in this Business, that it may be expedited and speeded.

Message from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Dr. Bennett and Dr. Aylett;

The Lords have commanded us to bring unto you a Report from the Committee at Derby House upon my Lord General's Letter: Which the Lords think fitting, and agree unto:- An Ordinance for the Militia of Gloucester, and other Counties named therein; with some small Amendments:-In which they desire the Concurrence of this House:-A Letter to be sent to the Commissioners of both Houses in Scotland; and desire, That it may be referred to the Committee at Derby House to send it to the Commissioners in Scotland with Speed.

The Lords desire the Concurrence of this House, That the Marquis of Winchester may have his Liberty continued, upon his former Bail, for Three Months longer.

Derby House Report.

The Report from the Committee at Derby House was the same that was reported to the House formerly; and was settled.

Gloucester, &c. Militia.

The Amendments to the Ordinance for the Militia of Gloucestershire, and other Counties, were read; and upon the Question, assented unto: And, was a Proviso, That this Ordinance shall continue for Six Months, and no longer.

Ordered, That this Ordinance be forthwith printed and published.

Surprize of Berwicke, &c.

The Letter to the Commissioners in Scotland was read: And some Alterations being made in it; and the whole Clause, from the Word "thereunto," in the Second Line of the Second Page, to the Word "you," beginning the Seventeenth Line, concerning the desiring the Scotts Assistance upon the Occasion touching the Surprisal of Berwicke and Carlisle, being left out; upon the Question, the Letter was assented unto.

Answer to Lords.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and do agree to the Amendments in the Ordinance for the Militia of the Counties of Gloucester, Monmouth, Brecon, and Glamorgan, . . . . . they do agree: To the rest, they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Message to Lords.

Major General Skippon carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, the Orders for Publick Thanksgiving, for the Victory obtained in South Wales: A Letter to the Parliament of Scotland: An Ordinance for reimbursing the Commissioners of the Customs Twenty thousand Pounds, advanced by them for the Use of the Navy.

He likewise returned to the Lords the Concurrence of this House to the Letter to be sent to the Commissioners of both Houses in Scottland: with the Amendments returned with it; and likewise the Concurrence of this House, That it be referred to the Committee at Derby House, to send this Letter to the Commissioners speedily.

Army, &c.

A Letter from the Lord General, from Windsore, of the Tenth of May 1648, to the Committee at Derby House, touching his March Northward; with a Paper inclosed of Necessaries desired for the Forces designed Northward, for their Accommodations in their March and Service; were this Day read.

Resolved, &c. That a Letter be written to the General, to desire, that the Regiments at the Mewes and Whitehall, may not be removed, till the House take further Order for their Safety.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree to the Desire of the General, concerning Monies for Pay and Contingencies for the Forces designed Northward; and refer it to the Committee of the Army, to consider of it, and make Provision thereof accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree to the Desire of the General, concerning Teams of Horse; and refer it to the Committee of the Army, to make Provision thereof accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree to the Desire of the General, concerning a Supply of Bandaleers, Swords, Pistols, and Saddles, with their Furniture; and do refer it to the Committee of the Army, to . . . . . Provision thereof accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee of the Army, to consider, What further Establishment is fit to be made to the Train of Artillery.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree to the Desire of the General, concerning a further Supply of Arms, Ammunition, and other Furniture of War, to be speedily sent down to Hull or Scarborough; and do refer it to the Committee of the Army, to make Provision thereof accordingly.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Army, to consider of the Desire in the General's Paper, concerning a Recruit of Horses; and to report their Opinions thereupon to the House.

Treasurers at War.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Army do prepare an Ordinance for the securing the Treasurers at War all such Monies as they have advanced for the Service of the State; and forthwith to report the same to the House.

Answer from Lords.

Major General Skippon brings Answer, That, as to the Alterations returned to the Letter to be sent to the Commissioners in Scotland, the Lords will send Answer by Messengers of their own: To the other Particulars of his Message, they do agree.

London Arrears, &c.

Ordered, That a Committee of the Members of this House do repair to the City of London; and acquaint them with the Success it has pleased God to give the Parliament's Forces in Wales; and with the Necessity of the General's Expedition into the North, for reducing the Towns there taken; and to desire them to give their Assistance therein, in the speedy paying their Arrears of Assessments for the Army.

Sir Christofer Yelverton, Mr. Crew, Colonel Venne, Sir Gilbert Gerard, Mr. John Ashe, Mr. Leman, Mr. John Corbett, Mr. Scott, Major General Browne, Mr. Vassall, Sir Walter Erle, Sir Tho. Soame, Mr. Swinfen, and the Gentlemen that serve for the City, are to desire the Lord Mayor to call a Common Council to meet to this Purpose.

Refusing to serve Parliament.

Ordered, That the Committees in every several County, do certify and inform this House of such Persons as do refuse to sign Warrants, or act in the Service of the Parliament.

Militia.

Ordered, That, To-morrow Morning, Mr. Bulkley do make Report of the Ordinance for settling the Militia of the Kingdom.

Sir Henry Mildmay brings Answer, That the Lords will send Answer to the Message concerning Mr. David Jenkins, by Messengers of their own.

Transactions with Scotland.

Mr. Crew, Mr. Pierpoint, Mr. Swynfen, Sir John Evelyn of Wiltes, Sir Harbottle Grimston, Colonel Morley, Sir John Danvers, Mr. Knightley;

This Committee, or any Three of them, are appointed to prepare and bring in a general Answer to the Paper of the Desires of the Parliament of Scotland; and to report it to the House To-morrow Morning.

Officers from Ireland.

Ordered, That, on Thursday Morning next, the first Business, Sir John Temple do make the Reports concerning the Officers that are lately come out of Ireland.

Army Accompts.

Ordered, That, the Ordinance for stating and determining the Accompts of all Officers and Soldiers be read on Tuesday Morning next, the first Business.
