PRAYERS.

Absent Members.

THIS Day, according to former Order, those Members that were absent upon the last Call of the House, and whose Excuses were not then admitted, were this Day again Called over.

Ordered, That Mr. Trefusis have his Twenty Pounds restored unto him.

Mr. Kekewiche was absent.

Ordered, That Mr. Perose have his Twenty Pounds restored unto him.

Ordered, That Mr. Francis Buller have his Twenty Pounds restored unto him.

Ordered, That Mr. Henry Wills have his Twenty Pounds restored unto him.

Resolved, &c. That those Members that were absent at the last Call of the House, and do appear this Day, and had Leave for their Absence, shall have their respective Twenty Pounds restored unto them.

The Question was propounded, That such Members as shall be absent when the House shall be Called, shall forfeit the Sum of Twenty Pounds:

And the Question being put, Whether this Question shall be now put;

The House was divided.

Mr. Swynfen brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Quorum, in the Committee for reducing the Propositions into Form, to be Three Lords, and Six of the House of Commons.

Poor, &c.

Ordered, That, on Saturday Morning next, the first Business, the Ordinance for the Relief and Employment of the Poor, and Punishment of the Vagrants, and other disorderly Persons, be read the Second time: And that, in the next Place, the Ordinance concerning Layton Bussard be read.

Tonage and Poundage.

Ordered, That the Report, now made by Mr. Miles Corbett, concerning the Bill of Tonage and Poundage, be re-committed to the Grand Committee, upon the whole Debate now had in the House hereupon: And that the Grand Committee do meet upon it on Saturday Morning next, at Eight of Clock, the first Business.

Irish Affairs.

Ordered, That the Reports concerning Ireland, be made by Mr. Green and Mr. John Stephens To-morrow Morning.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Sir Wm. Armyn, a Member of this House, shall have Leave to go into the Country.

Guernsey, &c.

The Alterations and Additions, formerly sent from the Lords to the Ordinance concerning Guernsey, Sark, and Alderney, were read; and, upon the Question, assented unto: And the Ordinance, so amended, upon the Question, passed.

Mayor of Maidston.

Ordered, That the whole Business concerning the Election of the Mayor of Maidston, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee of Lords and Commons for Indemnity, to whom the Cases concerning the Election of Officers by Ordinance, is referred: Who are to consider of the whole Business; and to apply Remedy, in case it be within the Power of the said Committee; otherwise, to state and report the Business to the House.

It is further Ordered, That the Letter from the Committee of Kent, from Maidston, of 2 Novembris, 1647, be referred likewise to the Consideration of the same Committee.

Plunkett's Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of Captain Thomas Plunkett be referred to the Consideration of the Committee of the Navy, to make due Satisfaction and Payment to the Petitioner, in such Manner as they shall think just and reasonable.

Publick Accompts.

Whereas by an Ordinance of both Houses of Parliament, of the First of October 1647, Richard Wilcox, Henry Broad, Nicholas Bond, and James Prince, Gentlemen, or any Two of them, were authorized to examine and determine the Accompts of certain Persons therein mentioned, according to the Rules and Instructions which passed both Houses the Eight-and-twentieth of May last; and were required to dispatch the same; to the end the Persons to be lifted might receive such present Relief as is therein expressed: And whereas the said Committee do find, that the said Persons to be lifted cannot at present produce such Evidence to make good their Arrears, as the said Instructions do require: It is hereby Ordered, That the said Committee, or any Two of them, do proceed to examine by the Muster Rolls, or by the best means which at present they can, such Certificates and Papers of the aforesaid Persons to be inlisted, as the said Persons already have, or are able at present to produce, to make good their Demands; deducting for Free Quarter, in such Cases, and according to such Rates, as are mentioned in the said Instructions; and so to present a List or Lists thereof, under their Hands, to the Parliament, together with the Proofs.

Poor Relief.

Ordered, That the Sum of Nine hundred Pounds, remaining at Weavers Hall, be borrowed and secured, and repaid out of the first Monies of the Ten thousand Pounds formerly charged upon the Receipts at Goldsmiths Hall; and assigned to the Relief of poor indigent Persons: And that the said sum of Nine hundred Pounds be paid unto Mr. Greenhill, Mr. Pocock, Treasurers, appointed by former Ordinance for Officers, to be distributed according to the former Orders made to the said Treasurers: And the Treasurers at Weavers Hall are hereby required to issue forth and pay the said Nine hundred Pounds to the said Treasurers, to be disposed of as aforesaid: And that the Acquittance of the said Treasurers shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the Treasurers at Weavers Hall, for the Payment of the said Sum of Nine hundred Pounds accordingly.

Ordered, That the Lords Concurrence be desired herein.

Articles of Truro.

Resolved, &c. That the Lords Concurrence be desired in the Approbation and Allowance of the Articles of Truro.

Ordered, That Mr. Sallwey do, To-morrow, go to the Lords, to desire their Approbation of the Articles of Truro; and further desire them to give Expedition to such Ordinances concerning Delinquents, as are sent to them from this House.

Maleverer's Petition.

Ordered, That the Report concerning the Petition of Sir Thomas Maleverer be made To-morrow Morning.

Transporting Bullion.

Upon the humble Petition of the Owners and Adventurers upon the Ship Loyalty, of London, whereof John Durson is Commander, intending a Voyage to the East Indies;

It is Ordered, That the said Petitioners shall have Liberty to transport and pass, upon the said Ship the Loyalty, bound, as aforesaid, in a Voyage to the East Indies, the Value of Six thousand Pounds, in Foreign Coin, and Foreign Bullion of Silver: And that the Commissioners of the Customs do permit the said Foreign Coin, and Foreign Bullion, to the Value of Six thousand Pounds, to be transported and passed upon the said Ship Loyalty, accordingly.
