Grants to Selden, &c.
THE humble Petition of John Selden Esquire, a Member of this House, was this Day read.
Ordered, upon the Question, That the Sum of Fiveand-twenty hundred Pounds be paid unto John Selden Esquire, by the Treasurers at Goldsmiths Hall, in Course, out of that Moiety of the Compositions with Delinquents, which is not granted to the City of London, for their Security; and out of the rest of the said Compositions, which shall remain after the said Security perfected and ended, without Prejudice to the said Security; towards Satisfaction and Reparation to be made unto him, for his great Damages and long Imprisonment suffered, for and by reason of his Service done to the Commonwealth, in the Parliament of tertio Caroli, whereof he was a Member: And that the Acquittance of the said John Selden, or his Assignee, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the said Treasurers, for Payment of the said Sum of Five-and-twenty hundred Pounds, accordingly.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Navy, or some of them, do forthwith repair unto the Contractors for Sale of Bishops Lands; and bid, and contract for, and make Purchase of Langley Woods, late belonging to the late Bishoprick of Salisbury, for the Advantage and Service of the Commonwealth.

An Ordinance for settling Lands of Inheritance, to the clear yearly Value of Five thousand Pounds per Ann. upon Sir Thomas Fairfax Knight, General of the Parliament's Forces, and his Heirs, for ever, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto Mr. Jennour, Sir Robert Pye, Sir Robert Harley, Sir Christofer Yelverton, Sir Thomas Widdrington, Sir John Clotworthy, Mr. Tate, Sir Henry Vane, Mr. Nathan. Waller, Mr. Knightley, Mr. Rigby, Mr. Whitehead, Mr. Challenor, Mr. Nicholas, Mr. Weaver: And are to meet To-morrow at Two post meridiem, in the Exchequer Chamber; and so de die in diem, as they shall see Occasion: And all Persons concerned may be heard at this Committee: And the Commissioners of the Great Seal are required to pass a Commission of Survey, under the said Great Seal, to Persons of Integrity in the several Counties where any Lands are, that are to be settled, by this Ordinance, upon Sir Thomas Fairfax, and his Heirs, to inquire upon Oath, and to return to the Committee, the true Values of the Lands, Tenements, Hereditaments, and Woods, mentioned to be granted by the said Ordinance: And the Committee, in case the Lands mentioned in the said Ordinance shall be deficient, or so incumbered, that they cannot be settled, that they shall receive Particulars of other Papists Lands and Estates, or other Delinquents excepted from Pardon, to complete the said yearly Sum of Five thousand Pounds per Annum, to be settled upon Sir Thomas Fairfax, and his Heirs.
Grant to General Fairfaxe.
Ordered, That, at the next Message, the Lords be put in mind of an Ordinance, formerly sent unto their Lordships, for Sir Thomas Fairefaxe's receiving the Rents of certain Delinquents Lands, to the Value of Five thousand Pounds per Annum, till an Ordinance pass for settling Lands to the same Value, upon him, and his Heirs for ever.

The humble Petition of Major Humfrey Bossevile, desiring to be either speedily enlarged, or to be tried, was this Day read.
Resolved, &c. That Mr. Humfrey Bossevile, now in the Serjeant's Custody, be forthwith committed Prisoner to the Prison of Newgate: And the Keeper of the said Prison is enjoined to have a great Care of him; and that none speak with him, but in the Presence and Hearing of his Keeper.
Resolved, &c. That Colonel Randall Manwaring do, from this Day forward, grant no Passes to any Person, upon any Occasion or Pretence of Authority whatsoever: And the said Colonel Randall Manwaring is hereby required to take Notice hereof; and to yield Obedience hereunto accordingly.

Penryn Wris.
Resolved, &c. That a Warrant shall issue forth, under Mr. Speaker's Hand, directed to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, to issue forth a Writ, for the new Election of a Burgess for the Borough of Penryn in the County of Cornwall, in the place of Sir Nicholas Slayning.

A Pamphlet, intituled, "The Vindication of Judge Jenkins, Prisoner in the Tower," was this Day read: And
It is Ordered, That the Committee where Mr. Miles Corbett hath the Chair, do make Report of the Matter of Fact, concerning Mr. David Jenkins, on Friday Morning next, the first Business: And that nothing else do then intervene: And Mr. Speaker is to put the House in mind hereof.

Ordered, That it be referred to Sir John Francklyn, Sir Gilbert Gerard, Sir Robert Pye, Mr. Alderman Atkins, Mr. Humfrey Edwards, Mr. Lawrence Whittacre, Mr. Ball, Mr. Wheeler, Mr. Recorder, Mr. Barners, Mr. Keeble, Mr. Hooker, Mr. Newdigate, Sir Gregory Norton, Mr. Hobart, Mr. Alderman Pennyngton, Sir John Woollaston, Mr. Robert Packer, and Mr. Manly, or any Three of them, Justices of the Peace for the City of London, or County of Middlesex, to send for the Company of Stationers, London, or any other Persons; and to examine and find out the Printers, Sellers, and Publishers, of a Scandalous Pamphlet, intituled, "The Vindication of Judge Jenkins, Prisoner in the Tower;" and also of another scandalous Book or Pamphlet, intituled, "The Unlawfulness of Subjects taking up Arms, against their Sovereign, in what Case soever;" Written by Dudley Diggs Gentleman, late Fellow of All Soules College, in Oxford: And the Gentlemen unto whose Care this is referred, are likewise to direct a legal Proceeding to be bad in the King's Bench, against the Printers, Sellers, and Publishers thereof: And have Power to commit them to Prison, if they shall see Cause.
