Prayers.

Resolved, &c. That on this Day Forthnight the Business concerning the Exchange of Sir Jo. Northcott be taken into Consideration: And that Mr. Speaker put the House in mind hereof.

Resolved, &c. That Three thousand Pounds shall be forthwith provided and furnished for the Sending of Soldiers out of Lancashire to the Assistance of Sir Wm. Brereton, and for Encouragement of the Soldiers of that County: And that this Three thousand Pounds shall be charged upon the Excise: Mr. Nicoll and Mr. Rigby are appointed to press the Commissioners of Excise herein.

Ordered, That the Committee for Excise do fit once every Fortnight, and begin on Tuesday next to hear from time to time, examine, and end the Questions undecided, and to remove the Obstructions, or otherwise to report the State of the same; and to consider of all Ways and Means, upon Conference with the Commissioners, of advancing and improving the Excise: And that the said Committees, or any Five of them, shall have the like Power for signing the List of the Names, and several Salaries, of the Officers employed in the Receipts of Excise, or otherwise, quarterly, and so from Quarter to Quarter, as they have already Power, by the Ordinance of the 31th of August 1644, to sign for the Year then past.

Ordered, That the Names of the several Committees of Excise be looked out, and put in an Ordinance, with this Power now granted unto them: And that Mr. Green, Mr. Reynolds, and Mr. Nicoll, do prepare this Ordinance.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do write Letters, as formerly, to the Committees in several Counties, to encourage the Officers of the Excise in the several Counties.

Ordered, That a Fortnight's Pay be provided for the Eight Regiments of Foot that lie about Reading and Farneham; and for the Train of Artillery, Draught-Horses, and other General Officers: And that Three thousand Eight hundred Pounds be forthwith provided towards this Fortnight's Pay, and for other Payments depending upon the Foot.

Ordered, That a Fortnight's Pay be forthwith provided for the Lifeguard of my Lord General.

Resolved, &c. That this Three thousand Eight hundred Pounds, and the Fortnight's Pay for my Lord General's Lifeguard, shall be charged upon the Excise.

Resolved, &c. That a Fortnight's Pay be provided unto the Horse that came in upon the Promise of both Houses, by the Directions of the Committee of both Kingdoms: And that this Fortnight's Pay be charged upon the Excise.

Mr. Nicoll, and Sir Wm. Litton, are appointed to go to the Commissioners of Excise; and earnestly to press them in it.

Sir Jo. Wray carrled up to the Lords the Ordinance concerning the Earl of Mulgrave and the Lord Sheffeild: The Vote for admitting Mr. Foord into the Assembly: The Order for One hundred and Fifty Pounds, to buy Ordnance for Taunton: The Order for discharging Mr. Russell's Delinquency, upon the Payment of his Composition.

Sir Jo. Wray brings Answer, That the Lords do concurr in all the Orders and Messages carried up by him.

Resolved, &c. That Six thousand Pounds shall be forthwith raised and provided for the Scotts Army in Ireland.

Ordered, That the Business of Farneham Castle be reported on Saturday next.

Ordered, That, the first Business To-morrow, the List of the Navy be reported; and, next after That, the several Businesses concerning Newcastle, and the Ships trading thither: And that, next after That Business, the Ordinance, That no Members shall have any Office or Command, &c.; be reported to the House.

Ordered, That the Report be made concerning Mr. Griffith on Monday next: And Mr. Mainard is then to attend.

Ordered, That the Ordinance for the taking away Obstructions in the Ordinance for Sequestrations be reported on Monday next.

Mr. Recorder, Mr. Crew, Sir Henry Vane senior, Mr. Hill, Sir Henry Vane junior, Mr. Bond;

This Committee, or any Three of them, is to consider, upon Conference, and advising with the Committee at Goldsmiths-Hall and Grocers-Hall, how Six thousand Pounds, Part of the Arrears of the Four thousand Pounds per Month assigned to the Scotts Army in Ireland, by Order of the Eleventh of April last, may be raised: And likewise to consider of settling some certain Way for the Payment of the several Four thousand Pounds monthly, formerly assigned to the Scotts Army, and to the British Forces, in Ireland, for the future: And likewise to consider of all fitting Ways that may advance and encourage the Service of the Armies in Ireland.

An Ordinance to discharge the Delinquency of Edward Russell Esquire.

Whereas Edward Russell, of Wooburne in the County of Bedford, Esquire, hath been fined Five hundred Pounds for his Delinquency, to pay the same by way of Composition, to the Use of the State; and, in pursuance of the said Composition, hath paid, and given Security to pay, the same to the Committee of Goldsmiths-Hall, intrusted for that Service: It is this Day therefore Ordered, Ordained, and Declared, by the Lords and Commons, in Parliament assembled; and the said Lords and Commons do hereby Order, Ordain, and Declare, That the Sequestration of the said Edward Russell his Estate, in what County or Place soever, shall be, and is hereby, taken off and discharged; and that he be likewise discharged of his Fifth, and Twentieth-Part; any former Direction, Declaration, or Ordinance, notwithstanding.
