Prayers.

Mr Maynard reports an Ordinance for establishing an Army, and their Pay, according to the new Model: The which was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto a Committee of the whole House. And

It is Ordered, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee on Monday Morning next, to take the said Ordinance into Consideration; and likewise the Report from the Committee concerning the Taking off of Provisions, to be accounted in Part of the Proportions assessed upon them.

It is further Ordered, That it be referred to this Committee, to consider of the great Charges the County of Kent is, and has been at, in the Raising and Maintaining the Garisons of that County; and other extraordinary Charges. It is likewise referred to this Committee, to consider of the Manner of levying the Rates assessed upon the several Counties; and of easing the Well-affected in the Levying of these Rates; and laying greater Proportions upon Malignants and Neutrals.

Mr. Grimston reports, from the Committee, the Distribution of the several Sums upon the several Counties.

Resolved, &c. That Two hundred and Thirty-two Pounds Ten Shillings be taken off the County of Cambridge and the Isle Elye; and be put upon the County of Huntingdon; which, added to the Sum of Seven hundred and Eighty-seven Pounds Ten Shillings, does make the Assessment of Huntingdon One thousand and Twenty Pounds.

Resolved, &c. That the Rates assessed upon the County of Cambridge, and Isle of Elye, shall be proportioned according to this Abatement.

Resolved, &c. That the monthly Rate of Two thousand and Seventy Pounds be assessed upon the County of Lincolne.

Ordered, That Colonel Rossiter's Regiment be taken into the Establishment, and paid within the Establishment, upon the new Model.

Resolved, &c. That Three hundred and Twenty Pounds monthly shall be abated out of the Rate assessed upon the County of Essex; and abated out of the whole Rate of Thirty thousand Pounds monthly set upon the Earl of Manchester's Association.

Resolved, &c. That the monthly Rate of Six thousand Seven hundred and Fifty Pounds shall be assessed upon the County of Essex.

Resolved, &c. That the monthly Sum of Seven thousand and Seventy Pounds shall be assessed upon the County of Suffolk.

Resolved, &c. That the monthly Sum of Seven thousand and Seventy Pounds shall be assessed upon the County of Norfolk.

Resolved, &c. That the monthly Sum of Three hundred and Sixty-six Pounds be assessed upon the City and County of the City of Norwich.

Resolved, &c. That the monthly Sum of Two thousand Four hundred and Thirty-two Pounds Ten Shillings shall be assessed upon the County of Herts.

Resolved, &c. That Three hundred Pounds monthly, of the One thousand Pounds monthly set upon the Counties of Leicester, Northampton, and Warwick, shall be assessed upon the County of Warwick.

Resolved, &c. That Two hundred and Fifty Pounds monthly shall be assessed upon the County of Leicester.

Resolved, &c. That Four hundred and Fifty Pounds monthly shall be assessed upon the County of Northampton.

Resolved, &c. That One thousand Pounds monthly shall be assessed upon the County of Bedford.

Resolved, &c. That Five hundred and Six Pounds monthly shall be assessed upon the County of Derby.

Resolved, &c. That One hundred and Eighty-four Pounds monthly shall be assessed upon the County of Rutland.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Grand Committee, to consider of the Characters of Malignants and Neuters, presented by the County of Kent.

Ordered, That the Members of this House, that are of the several Counties, upon which any Rate is charged by this Ordinance, do respectively meet, and agree upon Committees for the several and respective Counties and Places; and bring the Names of them in to the Grand Committee, on Monday next.

Ordered, That the Committee for my Lord General's Army, where Mr. Tate has the Chair, do consider of Colonels both for Horse and Foot; and present the Names of them to the House, to be inserted in this Ordinance, if they shall see Cause.

Ordered, That the Report of the Earl of Manchester's and Lieutenant-General Cromwell's Narrative be made on Monday Morning next, the first Business: And Mr. Speaker to put the House in mind hereof.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech and Mr. Page;

That the Lords have sent down the Report from the Committee appointed to treat with the States Ambassadors, concerning free Trade: And the Lords are of Opinion to refer it to the Committee of both Kingdoms; and do agree with the Committee therein; and do desire your Concurrence.

They have likewise sent down these Four Papers from the French Resident; and are of Opinion to refer them to the joint Committee appointed to meet with the States Ambassadors, on Monday next, at Three of Clock in the Afternoon: And to have Power to send for Parties and Witnesses, as they see Cause.

Ordered, That Sir Ralph Ashton do bring in an Order for the Speaker to seal the Patent for the Sheriff of Lancaster, and of other Writs of Process: And Mr. Gerard, Clerk of the Duchy, is to prepare the Commission and Dedimus for the Sheriff; and to bring it to Mr. Speaker, to be sealed.

Sir Wm. Waller presents, from the Committee of both Kingdoms, a Report concerning Two thousand Pounds for Powder, &c.; and for a Continuance of Fifteen hundred Pounds per mensem, for furnishing the publick Stores.

Ordered, That this Report be taken into Consideration on Monday next.

Ordered, That this House doth concurr with the Lords, in referring the Four Papers from the French Resident to the joint Committee formerly appointed to meet with the States Ambassadors; with Power, as is desired: And to meet on Monday at Three of Clock, in the Prince's Lodgings. And

It is further Ordered, That this House doth concurr with the Lords, in referring the Papers concerning free Trade to the Committee of both Kingdoms.
