PRAYERS.

Letter referred.

A LETTER from Sir Wm. Waller, from Hartley Roe, of May 21st, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of both Kingdoms, as to that Part which concerns the receiving of such to Mercy, as desire to come in: Who are to consider of it; and to present their Opinions to the House.

Eastland Merchants.

The humble Petition of the Governor, Assistants, and Fellowship, of Eastland Merchants, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for Trade, and Committee of associated Counties where Mr. Whitlock has the Chair, to consider of the Privileges granted by Letters Patents; and of some Course for the regulating and advancing of that Trade: And the Burgesses for Yorke, and the Out Ports, are added to this Committee, as to this Petition: And they have likewise Power to treat with the Eastland Merchants, for the Loan of Monies for recruiting Sir Wm. Waller's Horse.

Army.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Four associated Counties of Kent, &c. do meet this Afternoon, concerning the providing of Necessaries for Sir Wm. Waller's Army, especially of Draught Horse; and to take some Course, that the Carts and Teams, pressed from hence, may speedily be sent back.

Delinquents Estates.

Ordered, That the concealed Estates of Delinquents, to the Value of Seven hundred Pounds, discovered to the Committee of the Four associated Counties of * * * *

Sandowns, &c. Castles.

Ordered, That Mr. Boyse, employed in the Sequestrations in Kent, with the Advice of the Committee for Sequestrations, do set forth and fell Five hundred Loads of Timber, for the repairing of Sandowne, Sandgate, and Walmer Castles in Kent: And that the said Five hundred Load of Timber be delivered, upon Account, to such as the Committee for the Revenue shall appoint: And that the Bark and Brush be employed and sold, to the best Advantage, upon Account, to pay for the Squaring and Carriage of the said Timber.

Message to Lords.

Sir Thomas Barrington is appointed to go to the Lords, to acquaint them, that this House doth agree with them in the First Ordinance sent from their Lordships the First of February last, concerning the Committee of both Kingdoms.

He likewise carried up to the Lords, for their Concurrence, an Ordinance for securing of Ten thousand Pounds to the Commissioners of Excise, out of the Receipts of the First Monies upon the Excise.

Complaints against Cannon.

Resolved, &c. That Captain Cannon be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent, upon divers Complaints exhibited against him: And the Examination of his Miscarriages and Misdemeanors is referred to the Committee at Haberdashers Hall: Who have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records, and Books.

Money for Army.

Sir Tho. Barrington brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Ordinance for Ten thousand Pounds to my Lord General's Army out of the Excise Monies.

Comptroll of Dover.

Sir Gilbert Gerard, Sir Hen. Heyman, Sir Peter Wentworth, Sir Robert Pye, Mr. Cage, Mr. Hodges, Mr. Lisle, Sir Jo. Curson, Mr. Ashesambo, Sir Jo.Heppisley, Mr. Strode, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Knightley, Sir Beauchamp St. John, Mr. Niclas, Mr. Rolle, Sir Wm. Massam, the Knights and Burgessess of Kent and the Cinque Ports;

This Committee is to review the Report of the Business concerning Sir Anth. Percivall, and the Harbour and Fort of Dover; and to state the Votes and Proofs; and to present it to the House: And the Consideration of Dover Harbour is referred to this Committee: And they are to meet this Afternoon, at Three of Clock, in the StarChamber: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Davies shall be settled and established Comptroller in the Port of Dover, in the Place and Stead of Sir Antho. Percivall: And that it be referred to the Committee for the Revenue to appoint a convenient Salary to Mr. Davies, for the Execution of it: And that the Remainder of the Advantages and Profits, arising from that Place, shall be employed to the Benefit of the Commonwealth.

Colonel Popham.

Resolved, &c. That Colonel Popham be recommended to Sir Wm. Waller, for some Employment in his Army worthy of him; and that he have Leave to go down upon that Service and Employment.

Assessing Members.

Resolved, &c. That the Committee for assessing of the Members of the House, where Mr. Trenchard has the Chair, be revived; and that they do meet this Afternoon, at Three of Clock, in the Star Chamber, and present the Names of such Members as they think fit to be assessed by the House, as not having contributed proportionable to their Estates, upon the Propositions.

Ordination of Ministers.

Ordered, That the Rules for Ordination of Ministers, presented from the Assembly of Divines, be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning, in the manner formerly appointed; and then the Propositions; and so in Turns, one after another, according to former Order.

Ordinances to be read.

Ordered, That the Ordinances concerning Shropshire, and the associated Counties of Essex, Herts, &c. be read To-morrow Morning.

Reformado Officers.

Resolved, &c. That an Hundred of the Two hundred Reformado Officers, appointed by the Ordinance to be taken on in Two Troops, shall be admitted by my Lord General, if he shall so think fit, to trail Pikes in his own Foot Company; and have Reformado's Pay.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Reformado Officers of Sir Wm. Constable's Regiment be recommended to the Committee for the Establishment, to take a particular Care of them.

It is likewise referred to this Committee, to consider of, and bring in, the Names of such Reformado Officers as are appointed by the Ordinance to be entertained in my Lord General's Army.

Exchange of Prisoners.

Ordered, That a Servant of Colonel Bards shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant to go to Oxon, about the Exchange of himself for Mr. Hacker and Mr. Stavely, Prisoners to the King at Belvoir Castle.

Army Horses.

Ordered, That Mr. Cooke be enabled, by Commission from my Lord General, to mark all the Horse, as well in the Troops as in the Draughts, at some convenient Time: And that no Horse be permitted to pass Muster, or receive Pay, unless they be marked by him: And that he be an Assistant to the Commissary for the Draught Horses; and to have equal Power with the * * *: And that no hired Teams be received in, or discharged, without his Knowledge; nor any Payment made to them, but upon Bills signed by him; nor any Money paid for the Draughts of the Train, without a Muster taken by him.

That Mr. Cooke shall have Ten Shillings per diem for his own Entertainment; and for Three Servants, at Three Shillings and Four-pence each.

Kempe's Petition.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of Sir Robert Kempe be referred to the Committee of Lords and Commons for Sequestrations, to be speedily taken into Consideration for the Petitioner's Relief, as to Justice shall appertain.
