Provisions for Army.

AWARRANT to the Constables of Henden, in the County of Middlesex, to bring in weekly Provisions to Sir Wm. Waller's Quarters, was this Day . . .: And it is

Dr. Watts' Books.

Ordered, That Mr. Gregory shall take the Books of Dr. Watts into his Possession, and have the Use of them: And those in whose Custody they are * * * *

Dr. Braye's Books.

Ordered, That Dr. Wincopp shall have the Use of Dr. Braye's Books; and that be shall take and have Possession of them, till this House take further Order.

Dr. Feately's Books.

Ordered, That the Sequestrators shall sequester the Books of Doctor Feately to the Use of Mr. White, of Dorchester.

Copes and Surplices.

Ordered, That the Committee for removing of scandalous and superstitious Monuments, do take away all Copes and Surplices out of all Cathedral, Collegiate, and Parish Churches and Chapels, and apply them to the Relief and Succour of the wounded and maimed Soldiers; and enjoin the Deans, Prebends, Parsons, Vicars, and Rectors, of all Cathedral, Collegiate, and Parish Churches and Chapels; all Masters, Ushers, Scholars, Singingmen, and Choiristers, of all Cathedral, Collegiate, and Parish Churches and Chapels, Schools, and Colleges; not to wear any Surplice in any of the Places aforesaid, upon any Occasion, during any Time of divine Service or Sermons.

Archbishop of Canterbury's Impeachment.

Further Articles of Impeachment, by the Commons assembled in Parliament, against Wm. Laud, Archbishop of Canterbury, of High Treason, and divers high Crimes and Misdemeanors, were this Day all, one by one, read; and all, one by one, voted, and assented unto; and ordered to be ingrossed; and to be sent unto the Lords.

The Covenant.

Sir Tho. Soame, Mr. Vassall, Mr. Green, Mr. Bell, Sir Rich. Onslowe, Mr. Recorder, Mr. Hodges, Mr. Whitacre, Mr. Snow, Sir Wm. Walker, Mr. Mountague, Sir Jo. Coke, Mr. Sam. Luke, Mr. Whittlock, Mr. Winwood, Mr. Campian, Sir Wm. Litton, Mr. Holles, Sir Edw. Partheriche, Lord Wenman, Mr. Dunch, Mr. Jo. Maynard, this Day took and subscribed the Covenant.

Mr. James Fienis, Mr. Sundays, Sir Norton Knatehboll, Sir Jo. Franklyn, desire further Time to satisfy themselves: And Saturday next is appointed for them, and for all such other Members of the House as have not yet taken and subscribed it; who are then required to be here, and to take and subscribe the same.

Condemned Priests.

Mr. Recorder, Mr. Maynard, Sir Peter Wentworth, Mr. Baynton, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Wheeler, Sir H. Mildmay, Mr. Gilb. Gerard, Mr. Gourdon, Mr. Solicitor, or any Three of them, are appointed to examine and consider of the State of the Priests formerly condemned; and to represent to the House, in what Condition they stand.

Mr. Recorder is desired to give Order, that the Priests condemned may be kept close Prisoners, and have no Resort unto them.

League and Covenant.

Ordered, That the solemn League and Covenant be tendered, on the next Lord's Day, in the several Cathedral, Collegiate, and Parish Churches and Chapels, of London, Westminster, Suburbs, Liberties, and Parishes, within the Bills of Mortality.

Martial Law.

Resolved, &c. That my Lord General shall be desired to award a standing Commission of martial Law, for the Trial of Offenders.

Sir H. Mildmay and Mr. Nicoll is appointed to go to my Lord General with this Desire.

Hotham, a Prisoner.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Hotham, be forthwith removed to the Tower, and committed Prisoner thither, during the Pleasure of the House.

Loans from the City.

Ordered, That the Committee Yesterday appointed by the Common Council be divided into two Committees; and the one treat with the Committee appointed to consider of raising Monies for the Scots; and the other treat with the Committee appointed to consider of raising Monies for my Lord General's Army, and Sir Wm. Waller's Forces.

Adjournment.

Ordered, That the House shall this Day adjourn itself till Thursday Morning.

Bishop of Chichester.

The humble Petition of Henry Bishop of Chichester, concerning the Sequestration of his Estate, was read.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth adhere to the former Order for sequestring the Estate of the Bishop of Chichester.

Dawes' Sequestration.

The Ordinance for sequestring the Estates of Sir Thomas Dawes and Mr. John Dawes, for Satisfaction of their Creditors, was this Day read; and put to the Question; and passed with the Negative.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees shall sit this Afternoon and To-morrow, notwithstanding the Adjournment of the House.

Irish Affairs.

Ordered, That the Two Letters from Ireland, concerning Sir Wm. Persons and Mr. Murrell of Lucas, be referred to the Committee for Irish Affairs.

Hertford Horse.

Ordered, That it be recommended to my Lord General to command the Horse of the County of Hertford, that are there raised; and the Notice thereof be given to my Lord of Manchester: And Sir Philip Stapilton, and Sir Wm. Litton are appointed to acquaint my Lord General with this Order.

Mutineers.

Ordered, That Arthur. Ground, John Wrathe, and John Ward, Mutineers in the Bona Adventure, shall be committed to the Marshalsea.

Supplies for Virginia.

Ordered, That Mr. George Minifitt, Inhabitant in Virginia, having upward of Seventy in Family there, besides those he is to carry with him now, be permitted to transport with him, by Bill of Store, such Apparel, Houshold stuff, shoes, Stockings, Canvas, and other Cloathings, Tools, and Nails, and all other Provisions, as is for the Use of his Family, for Lodging and Cloathing, and Tools fitting for the Plantation.

Debts on account of Ireland.

Whereas it appeareth to the House of Commons, by a Report made unto them from the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland, that several Sums of Money are due, and in Arrear, unto divers Persons sent hence the last Summer to be employed in the Train of Artillery in Ireland, and are now discharged the Service, and sent back; the Whole amounting to the Sum of Eleven hundred Threescore and Ten Pounds and Fourteen Shillings: It is now Ordered, by the Commons in this present Parliament assembled, That the Receivers of the Adventures Money, upon Subscriptions for Lands in Ireland, do, out of such of those Monies as are or shall come to their Hands, pay unto Nicholas Loftus Esquire, Deputy Treasurer at Wars for the Kingdom, the said Sum of Eleven hundred Threescore and Twelve Pounds and Fourteen Shillings, to be by him paid over unto the several Persons mentioned in the Certificates of each Person's Due, and as he shall receive the further Orders of the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland, for the same.

Irish Affairs.

Whereas by an Ordinance of the Lords and Commons, assembled in Parliament, dated 29 Julii, 1643, Adam Lawrence, Derrick Host, Maurice Thomson, and Nicholas Corcelles, of London, Merchants, were appointed Commissioners jointly to negociate the Affairs of Ireland, in Holland, Zeland, and the rest of the United Provinces; and it being conceived, that, to negociate the said Affair severally, will much advance and further the Work; the Lords and Commons, assembled in Parliament, have therefore ordained and declared, and do hereby give and grant, unto the said Adam Lawrence, Derrick Host, Maurice Thompson, and Nicholas Corcelles, and every of them, severally and respectively, full Power and Authority to solicit and negociate the said Affair, every one by himself, or otherwise, as they shall think fit, according as they were enabled to negociate the said Affair jointly, by the said former Ordinance.
