PRAYERS.

Goods to be delivered up.

ORDERED, That Mr. Rob. Thorpe, Master of the Ship Alexander, of Hull, or whosoever commands, in his Absence, the said Ship, do forthwith deliver unto Mr. Jepson, or such as he shall appoint, the Five Surgeon Chests, and the Ten Hogsheads of Tobacco, aboard the said Ship.

Person sent for.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Rob. Thorpe, Master of the Ship Alexander, of Hull, be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent, for refusing to obey the Order of the Committee.

Leicester Committee.

Resolved, &c. That Wm. Bembrigge Esquire, Francis Smaley jun. Gentleman, and Mr. Rich. Ludlam of Leicester Mayor, be added to the Committee at Leicester; and have as full Power to all Intents and Purposes, as the other Committees for that County have, might, or ought to have.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired.

Lady Shelly's Sequestration.

Upon Certificate from the Committees for Sequestrations in Sussex, That the Lady Shelly, a known Papist, sent Arms to Chichester, against the Parliament;

It is Resolved, &c. That the Estate of the Lady Shelley be forthwith sequestred, according to the Ordinance for Sequestrations, notwithstanding her Fine of One hundred Pounds.

Sussex Committees.

Resolved, &c. That Sir Tho. Eversfield, Knight, Jo. Alford, Hen. Goring, Edw. Goring, Ralph Cooper, Esquires, formerly appointed Committees for the Sequestrations in the County of Sussex, be forthwith discharged from being any longer Committees of the said County.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Woolfe's Relief.

Ordered, That the Case of Mrs. Woolfe, Daughter of Mr. Rich. Moore, a Member of this House, whose Husband is deceased, and whose Estate was seized, for having been in Arms against the Parliament, be specially recommended to the Consideration of the Committee of this House for Sequestrations; to consider of affording some good Relief to the said Mrs. Woolfe, and her Six Children, out of the Profits already received.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Nash, a Member of this House, shall have Leave to go into the Country, for, and to be absent from the Service of the House for, Three Weeks or a Month.

Affairs at Plymouth.

A Letter from Plymouth, of the Nine-and-twentieth of August, relating the treacherous Intention of Sir Alexander Carew, Baronet, to deliver up the Island and Fort of Plymouth; was this Day read.

Resolved, &c. That Sir Alexander Carew be forthwith disabled and discharged from being or sitting any longer, as a Member of this House, during this Parliament.

And it is Ordered, That his Excellency my Lord General be moved to grant a Commission for the Trial of the said Sir Alexander Carew by martial Law.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Bedford shall be discharged of being a Lecturer in the Town of Plymouth; and that he be sent for, as a Delinquent, by the Serjeant at Arms.

Ordered, That a Letter be written to the Mayor of Plymouth, to thank him for his great Pains and Industry in the securing of the Isle of Plymouth: And that it be recommended unto the Mayor, to take especial Care of the Security of that Place: And that it be recommended unto the Mayor, that a particular Day may be set apart for a publick Thanksgiving in the Town of Plymouth: And that Mr. Mayor do reward such as he has promised Reward unto; and that the House will see him reimbursed: And Sir Jo. Young, and Mr. Waddon, are appointed to bring in an Order for the Indemnity of the Mayor, and the rest employed by him.

Members disabled to sit.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Constantine be forthwith disabled and discharged from being any longer a Member of this House, during this Parliament; for being in Arms against the Parliament, and endeavouring to betray and deliver up the Town of Poole.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Constantine shall be discharged from being any longer Recorder of the Town of Poole; and that the Town proceed to a new Election.

Resolved, &c. That Sir Jo. Harrison Knight, be forthwith discharged and disabled for sitting any longer, as a Member of this House, during this Parliament; for being in Arms against the Parliament.

Resolved, &c. That Sir H. Anderson be forthwith disabled from being any longer a Member of this House, during this Parliament, for deserting the Service of the House, and repairing to the Army, against the Parliament.

Irish Affairs.

Mr. Reynolds presented to the House the Draught of a Letter to be sent from both Houses to the Lord Inciquin, to give him Thanks for the great Service he hath performed, in Munster in Ireland, against the Rebels; and to encourage him to go on for the future, and not to hearken to a Cessation of Arms with them, without the Consent of both Houses: Which Letter was read; and, upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent up to the Lords; and to desire their Concurrence.

Ordered, That Serjeant Major Jepson do take a special Care, in the Delivery of this Letter; and to return a speedy Answer and Account of his Proceedings thereupon, to the Parliament.

Ordered, That Mr. Reynolds do carry up this Letter to the Lords, for their Concurrence.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Navy do take care, that a Ship, of good Strength, do guard the Ships into Ireland in which Major Jepson his Goods, Provisions for the Supply of the Province of Munster, are to pass.

Messages to Lords.

Mr. Reynolds carried up to the Lords the Letter to the Lord Inciquin; and the Committees Names for Nottingham, and was to move the Lords to pass the Ordinance to make the Lord Inciquin Captain General of the Forces in Munster.

Mr. Erle carried up to the Lords the Ordinance concerning the raising of Monies for Horse in the Line of Communication; and the Committees Names for Aylesbury, Huntington, and Cambridge; and concerning the sending of Middlesex Horse to my Lord General.

Answers from Lords.

Mr. Reynolds brings Answer; the Lords do agree to the Letter to the Lord Inciquin; and to the Committees Names for Nottingham; but as to the Ordinance for to be Captain General for Munster, they will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Mr. Erle brings Answer; That the Lords do agree to the several Additions of Committees to the several Counties: As to the Ordinance for Middlesex Troop; and to the Ordinance for the raising of Monies in the City of Westminster, and Suburbs; they will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Levying Money.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edward Leech and Dr. Ailett;

That the Lords do agree to this Ordinance for levying of Monies within the Line of Communication, with the leaving out the two last Lines of that Ordinance; viz. "but for such Estate as they have, within the Extent and Limits within this Ordinance mentioned."

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the Lords, in the leaving out the two last Lines of the said Ordinance; viz. "but for such Estate as they have, within the Extent and Limits within this Ordinance mentioned."

Answer returned by the same Messengers, that this House doth agree with the Lords, in the leaving out the two last Lines mentioned in the said Message.

Brewers Company.

The humble Petition of the Company of Brewers of London was this Day read; and ordered to be referred to the Committee for Excise; who are to meet upon it this Afternoon.

Kent, &c. Assessments.

The Ordinance for engaging the Arrears upon the first Ordinance for the weekly Assessments in Kent, Essex, and Norfolke, was read; and, upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be carried up to the Lords by Sir Rob. Pye.

The Covenant.

Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Pym, Mr. Selden, Mr. Recorder, Mr. Whitlocke, Serjeant Wilde, Mr. Rous, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Wheeler;

This Committee, or any Three of them, is appointed to prepare an Answer unto the Fifth Article of the Covenant; and to provide a House, well furnished, for the Scotts Commissioners to be in, that are coming out of Scotland.

Naval Affairs.

A Letter was read, from the Earl of Warwicke, dated 2 Septemb. 1643, shewing the great Necessities of the Navy, and complaining of the Release of Ships taken as Prize.

Ordered, That a Letter be sent to the Earl of Warwicke, to inform this House what Ships, that have been seized as Prize, have been released, and by whom, and by what Warrant: And that Mr. Pym do write this Letter.

King's Rents, &c.

Ordered, That the several Committees do forthwith cause Rentals to be sent up, in all the adjacent Counties, of the King's Rents; and that the Solicitors or Agents for Sequestrations do give a perfect Inventory of all Rents and Estates they seize or sequester.

Excise.

Ordered, That the Committee for Excise do meet this Afternoon.

Provisions for Navy.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Navy do meet this Afternoon, and consider of some Means to supply the Navy with Provisions.
