PRAYERS.

Message to Lords.

SIR Wm. Lewes went up to the Lords, to desire a Conference concerning the Tonage and Poundage. He carried up the Order for advancing the Propositions for bringing in of Money, Plate; the Order for a Committee to examine the Proceedings of the Commissioners of Array; the Order for the Earl of Pembroke to be Lieutenant of the Counties of Monmouth, Brecon, and Glamorgan; to put the Lords in mind of the List of the Train of Artillery for Ireland; and of the Bill against scandalous Ministers. He likewise carried up Mr. H. Herbert, and Sir Edm. Morgan, to be Deputy Lieutenants of the County of Monmouth. He likewise desired a free Conference concerning the Amendments returned from the Lords to the Bill of Innovations.

Ogle's, &c. Arrears.

Ordered, That the Arrears of the personal Entertainment appearing to be due to Sir Wm. Ogle and Captain Jo. Boyse, upon Sir Wm. Uvedale's Certificate, be forthwith paid unto them, or their Assigns, out of the Monies that come in upon the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds, out of the County of Essex.

Issuing Money.

This Committee, or any Three of them, are to take into Consideration Sir Wm. Uvedale's List; and to take Course that there may be no Abuse in the Granting out of Warrants for Issuing out of Monies upon the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records; and to meet when and where they please.

Deputy Lieutenant.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth approve of Sir Edw. Morgan to be Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Monmouth.

Cole's Petition.

The humble Petition of Sir Wm. Cole, Knight and Colonel, was this Day read; and ordered to be referred to the Committee for Mr. Chichester and Mr. Hill's Petitions.

Payler's Accounts.

The State of the Accounts of Geo. Payler Esquire, late Paymaster of the Forces in Garison at Berwick, and of the Works and Fortifications there, returned from the Committee for Accounts, was this Day read: And this House doth allow this Account; and doth Order, That the Sum of Three thousand and Eighty-five Pounds Seventeen Shillings and Five Pence, appearing to be due unto the said Mr. Payler, upon the Foot of this Account, be forthwith paid unto him, or his Assigns, out of the Monies that come in upon the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds; deducting the Sum of One hundred and Fourteen Pounds, ordered on Saturday last to be paid to Sir Jo. Coniers, if the said Sum appear to be included within this Account.

Message to Lords.

Sir Wm. Litton went up to the Lords, to desire a Conference concerning a Declaration expressing the Grounds and reasons that move the Parliament to raise defensive Arms; and to desire that the Militia might be put in Execution in Norfolk on Friday next: The Vote for Sir Gilbert Gerard's being Treasurer at Wars for the Army to be raised for Defence of the Parliament.

Military Intelligence.

There was a Warrant under the Earl of Lindseye's Hand, to Captain Treswell, for Raising of a Company of a Hundred Foot; and other Warrants and Orders for Raising of Men; read: There were likewise Information given of Warrants for Raising of Men in Nottingham, Lincolne, and other Counties; and ordered to be referred to the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom, to take some Course herein.

Mr. Toll is ordered to return Thanks to the Captains and Inhabitants of the Town of Linne, for their careful and speedy Information of this Business.

Ordered, That Moses Treswell be forthwith summoned in safe Custody.

Answer from Lords.

Sir Wm. Lewis brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to a present Conference, as is desired; and to all the Orders: And as to the Proposition concerning the List of Arms to be sent into Ireland, they gave no Answer. They likewise agree to a free Conference concerning the Bill of Innovations.

Conference, &c.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Ro. Rich and Mr. Page;

The Lords commanded us to let you know, that, at the Conference desired by this House, they do intend to acquaint you with some Letters that are come to their Hands; and likewise to give an Answer to that Part of the Message that concerns the List of Ammunition to be sent into Ireland.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and does agree to meet upon those Points desired by their Lordships.

Answers from Lords.

Sir Wm. Litton brings Answers, That the Lords do agree to the Conference desired concerning the Declaration; and to the Order for Sir Gilbert Gerard's being Treasurer at Wars; and to the Order for putting the Militia in Execution on Friday next.

Conference.

Mr. Holles, Mr. Green, Sir Wm. Lewes, Mr. Prideaux, are appointed Managers and Reporters of this Conference.

Treasurer at Wars.

Ordered, That Mr. Whittlock and Mr. Prideaux do prepare an Ordinance of Parliament, and Instructions, to authorize and direct Sir Gilbert Gerrard in his Office of being Treasurer at Wars, for the Army to be raised for the Defence of Religion, King, and Parliament.

Intercepted Letters.

Sir Wm. Lewes reports from the Conference with the Lords, a Letter from the Earl of Warwick, to the Earl of Essex, concerning some Letters that were intercepted, directed to Sir Wm. Boswell, Agent with the States; and the Manner of the Intercepting of them.

Artillery for Ireland.

He farther reported, That as concerning the List of the Artillery to be sent into Ireland, they had appointed the Clerks of the Stores to peruse them: And, upon their Report, they will send Answer; which will be on Monday next.

Intercepted Letters.

Resolved, upon the Question, That these Letters shall be opened in the House by the Clerk.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Letter for the Queen her Majesty shall be opened.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Letter with no Superscription shall be opened.

That being opened, within the Cover was inclosed a Letter for Mr. H. Piercy.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the other Letter for the Queen's Majesty shall be opened.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Letter for Sir Wm. Boswell, his Majesty's Agent with the States, shall be opened.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the other Letter for her Majesty shall be opened.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Letter, with the Ciphers upon it, shall be now opened.

Resolved, upon the Question, That these Letters, thus opened, shall be referred to the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom, to be read by them.

Resolved, upon the Question, That a Message shall be sent to the Lords to acquaint them, that this House has opened this Pacquet of Letters, without Reading; and has referred them to the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom, to be read by them; and do desire, that the Committee may presently meet.

South Mimes Viearage.

The humble Petition of Wm. Tutty Minister, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That Doctor Duck be required forthwith to certify unto this House the Reasons why he doth not give Institution and Induction to Mr. William Tutty, Minister to the Vicarage of South Mimes in the County of Middlesex, being presented thereunto by Tho. Marsh Esquire, the undoubted Patron thereof.

Scotch Army Pay.

Ordered, That the Treasurers appointed to receive the Monies that come in upon the Subscriptions for Ireland, do forthwith pay unto Mr. Loftus, Deputy Treasurer at Wars for Ireland, Fifteen thousand Pounds, or thereabouts, being for a Month's Pay for the Scotts Army in Ireland.

Coining Plate.

Ordered, That Order be given, that an Hundred thousand Pound-worth of Plate be presently coined, to repay the Hundred thousand Pounds borrowed of the Adventurers for Ireland: And that the said Hundred thousand Pounds be carried into the Tower to be coined by Thirty thousand Pounds at a time.

Loan for Irish Service.

Ordered, That the Treasurers appointed to receive the Monies come in upon the Subscription for Ireland, do forthwith furnish, by Way of Loan, unto the Committee of the Lords and Commons for the Defence of the Kingdom, the Sum of One hundred thousand Pounds, for the Supply of the publick Necessity, for the Defence of the King, Parliament, and Kingdom, upon the publick Faith; to be repaid duly and carefully, within so short a Time, that it shall not be diverted from that Purpose for which it was intended; or any way frustrate the Acts already made in behalf of that Adventure.

Memorandum, This Order was granted; the Consent of the Committee for Adventurers being first thereunto had.

Forces intended for Munster.

That the Committee for Adventurers shall propound to the Officers of the Five thousand Foot, and Five hundred Horse, intended to be sent to Munster, that they do attend the Lord General, for his Commands, to serve here in this Kingdom, for the Defence of the King and Parliament; and to receive their Answers; and to declare unto them, that when there shall be Occasion to send any more Forces into Ireland, that they shall then be employed in the same Commands that now they have.

Prisoner released.

Ordered, That Gervase Good, formerly committed to the Gatehouse, by a former Order of this House, be forthwith released from any farther Imprisonment.

Ashwell's Horse.

Ordered, That Captain Ashwell's Horse, stayed at Enfield, and brought up to this Town, be forthwith discharged.

Information against Simonds.

Information was given to this House, of Words preached in a Sermon by Mr. Edw. Simonds, Parson of Rayne in Essex: Notes of the Sermon were delivered in: And Mr. Boroughes, that took the Notes, was called in; and did avow, that the said Mr. Simonds did deliver the Words expressed in the Notes.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Symonds, Parson of Rayne in Essex, be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent, by the Serjeant at Arms attending on this House.

Person sent for.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Barrell Vicar of Maidstone, be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent, for scandalous Words uttered in a Sermon preached by him on Sunday last at Maidstone, against the Scotts; and other seditious Expressions contained in that Sermon.

Dispersing Declarations, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee for dispersing the Orders and Declaration of the House, do take Order that such Declarations and Orders may be delivered to such Hands as they shall think most convenient for the Dispersing of them.

Mr. Gourdon, Sir Ro. Coke, Mr. Corbett are added to this Committee.

Printing for the House.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker, on Monday Morning, do put the House in mind of the Monies due to the Printers that Printed divers Things for the Service of the House.

Killigrewe's Horses.

Whereas there were, by a former Order from this House, Four Horses stayed, of Mr. Tho. Killigrewe's ..... be forthwith delivered to Mr. H. Killigrew, or such as he shall appoint; he paying the Charges occasioned by the said Horse.

Berry's, &c. Arrears.

Ordered, That the Arrears of the personal Entertainment appearing upon Sir Wm. Uvedale's Certificate to be due to John Berry, late Serjeant Major to the Lord Marquis Hamilton, in the late Northern Expedition; and that the personal Entertainment appearing, upon the like Certificate, to be due to Captain F. Conisby; be forthwith paid unto them out of the first Monies that shall come out of the County of Kent; upon the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds.

Witnesses against Edwards.

Whereas there was an Order of the 18th of June, for Summoning of divers Witnesses to appear, upon the Complaint of Rowland Dawkins, against Wm. Edwards Clerk; some of which Witnesses are accordingly come up, and now attending: It is Ordered, That the Examination of the said Witnesses be referred to the Committee for Informations.

St. George, Southwarke, Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Parishioners of St. George, Southwarke, this Day read, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee for St. Olave's Parish.

Aqueduct-money.

Ordered, That the Papers delivered in by Sir Walth. Roberts, concerning the Acqueduct-money, be referred to the Consideration of Sir Gilbert Gerard; who is to report his Opinion.
