Persons to be summoned.

ORDERED, That Valentine Tadnor, Rich. Rose, Hen. Tidiman, Will. Richards, Ed. Chambers, Simon York, and Tho. Barlo, be forthwith summoned to appear here, to give in Testimony, in a Cause depending here, concerning a Petition preferred by some of the Inhabitants of the Parish of St. James, in Dover; and concerning some Persons complained of in the said Petition; some of which are sent for as Delinquents.

E. of Essex's Commission.

The Draught of a Commission whereby to constitute and ordain the Earl of Essex Captain General, by virtue of an Ordinance of Parliament, of all the Forces, Train Bands, Forts, and Castles, fortified, and to be fortified, within the Kingdom of England, and Dominion of Wales, &c. was this Day read Twice.

And the Question being put for the Re-commitment;

And passing with the Negative.

The Question was put for the Passing: And by Vote upon the Question it was assented unto; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence herein.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech and Dr. Aylett;

Treaty with Scotland.

The Lords have commanded us to deliver unto you the Articles of the Treaty agreed on between the Commissioners of England and Scotland, concerning the Reducing the Rebels of Ireland; in which his Majesty hath, with his own Pen, altered some Things, as by the Letter herewith sent, it appears.

Navy victualling.

WHEREAS the Earl of Northumberland, late High Admiral of England, is by his Majesty discharged of that Place; by whose Warrant the principal Officers of the Navy did issue forth, out of his Majesty's several Stores, such Provisions as upon all Occasions were necessary for the Use of the Navy: It is this Day Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament, That the said principal Officers of the Navy respectively, according to their several Trusts, do, from time to time, give their Warrants unto the Storekeepers and other inferior Ministers of the Navy, for Supply of all such Provisions and Necessaries for the Use of his Majesty's Ships now at Sea under the Command of the Earl of Warwick, as the said Earl shall, upon all Occasions, give Directions, under his Lordship's Hand and Seal.

Ditto.

Resolved, That the Swallow and the Bonaventure, and the Three Pinnaces upon the Coasts of Ireland, be re-victualled for Two Months longer; for which the Victualler shall receive Payment, according to former Agreement and Order of Parliament.

Assembly of Divines.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Day in the Bill shall be the Tenth of August.

Re-victualling the Fleet.

Ordered, That the Consideration of re-victualling the Fleet be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning.

Message to Lords.

Sir Ro. Harley carried up the Lords the Order for supplying of stores to the Navy, and the Order for revictualling the Ships upon the Coast of Ireland; and the Order concerning the Aldermen meeting together, and making Choice of a Locum tenens.

Person summoned.

Ordered, That the Under Sheriff of the County of Middlesex shall be forthwith summoned to appear here, for publishing his Majesty's Proclamation concerning the Militia, when he was commanded by a Member of the House * * * *

King's Proclamations, &c. at Exeter.

Several Letters from the Mayor of the City of Exon, touching some Proclamations concerning the Militia, and other Proceedings of this House; which they have received from his Majesty * * *

Ordered, That Mr. Holles and Mr. Pym do write an Answer to these Letters from the City of Exon: And to take Notice of their good Respects to this House; and to encourage them in them: And that it be referred to the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom, to examine Mr. Ball, Mr. Snow, and Mr. Walker, Members of this House, concerning a Petition mentioned in the Letters from Exon, to be sent to the Lord Falkland, directed to One of them; and that they have Power to summon these Parties to appear before them.

Ld. General's Commission.

Mr. Holles reports, That the Lords do agree to the Commission for the Lord General.

Order concerning Whetcombe.

The House was informed, That the Lords had not yet passed the Order concerning Tristram Whetcombe: And it was Ordered, That the Order should go from this House alone.

Payment to Cromwell.

WHEREAS Mr. Cromwell hath sent down Arms into the County of Cambridge, for the Defence of that County; It is this Day Ordered, That Sir Dudley North shall forthwith pay to Mr. Cromwell One hundred Pounds, which he hath received from Mr. Crane, late High Sheriff of the County of Cambridge; which said Hundred Pounds the said Mr. Crane had remaining in his Hands, for Coat and Conduct Money.

Training Inhabitants of Cambridge.

Ordered, That Mr. Cromwell do move the Lord Lieutenant for the County of Cambridge, to grant his Deputation to some of the Inhabitants of the Town of Cambridge, to train and exercise the Inhabitants of that Town.

Information against Wilson.

The Constable of Namptwiche was called in: Who did testify, That Jo. Wilson, Under Sheriff of the County of Chester, spoke scornfully of the Order of this House, to conduct Arms from Hull to Westchester: That he served a Warrant upon this Constable for not obeying the Commission of Array.

Resolved, &c. That Jo. Wilson, Under Sheriff for the County of Chester, shall be forthwith summoned to attend this House.

Jewel to E. of Ormond.

Ordered, That the Jewel prepared to be sent from this House to the Earl of Ormond, shall be forthwith sent unto him: And Mr. Hollis is to take Care for the Sending thereof.

Payment to Long.

Ordered, That a Thousand Pounds formerly lent by Mr. Walter Long, shall be forthwith paid unto him, out of the Monies that come in upon the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds: And the Treasurers for the Receivers of those Monies are ordered to pay the same accordingly.

Money for Ireland.

Ordered, That Ten thousand Pounds shall be forthwith imprest unto Mr. Loftus, Deputy Treasurer at Wars for Ireland, out of the Contribution Money for Ireland, as it comes in, to be employed by him for the Affairs of Ireland.

Irish Protestants.

It is fartherwise Ordered, That a Thousand Pounds shall be paid to the Committee for Contributions, out of the Contribution Money, to be disposed by them for the Relief of the distressed Protestants that are come out of Ireland.

Ditto.

Ordered, That Mr. Reignolds and Mr. Rous do prepare an Order to pass both Houses, that, for the future, Care may be taken, that no more Monies may be disposed out of the Contribution Money to relieve such as come out of Ireland hither: But that the Monies may be sent to relieve the distressed Protestants that do reside in Ireland: And an Order to prevent the Coming over of any more hither.

Answer from Lords.

Sir Robert Harley reports, The Lords do agree to the Order for Portsmouth: And that the Examinations concerning Macquar and Macmahun, shall be delivered over to some Members of this House: For the Order concerning Martyn College, they will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Oconnellis' Annuity.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the One hundred and Fifty Pounds Arrears of the Annuity granted unto Owen Oconnellis, be paid unto his Assign out of the Monies that shall come in upon the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds: And that it be referred to the Committee for the Adventurers, to value his accruing Annuity; and that they make Report on Monday next.

Allowances to Ld. Docra, &c.

Resolved, &c. That the Sum of Two hundred Pounds shall be allowed unto the Lord Docra, out of the Contribution Monies.

Resolved, &c. That the Sum of Two hundred Pounds, out of the Contribution Money, shall be allowed unto the Lady Gray, Mother to the Earl of Stamford.

Resolved, &c. That the Sum of Two hundred Pounds, shall be allowed unto the Archbishop of Cassel in Ireland, out of the Contribution Monies.

Resolved, &c. That the Sum of Two hundred Pounds, out of the Contribution Monies, be allowed unto Dr. Jones.

Resolved, &c. That the Sum of Two hundred Pounds, out of the Contribution Monies, be allowed unto Mr. Fitz Gerard, an Irish Gentleman.

Resolved, &c. That Fifty Pounds, out of the Contribution Monies, be allowed unto Roger Hodges, Clerk, that is lately come out of Ireland.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the Bishop of Kildare be referred to the Committee for Contributions, for his Relief.

Officers Pay.

Ordered, That from Tuesday next, the Officers of the additional Forces shall receive Two Months Advance, when the Commissions shall be cleared; and that they have received them; and that they have given good Security to perform Conditions.

And it is further Ordered, That they shall receive no more Pay until these Two Months, thus advanced, be determined.

Certificate concerning Beresford, &c.

Ordered, That the Lieutenant of Ireland's Secretary be required to deliver unto the Committee for Mr. Chechester's Petition, the Certificates concerning Captain Beresford, and others; and concerning the Business of Colerane.

Captives at Algiers.

Ordered, That the Report of the Bill concerning the Captives of Algiers, be made To-morrow Morning.

Mennes' Arrears.

Ordered, That Sir John Mennes shall have the Arrears for his personal Entertainment forthwith paid unto him, it appearing upon Sir Wm. Uvedale's Certificate how much is due unto him.
