PRAYERS.

Cannoneers at Hull.

RESOLVED, upon the Question, That the Four Cannoneers employed by this House in the Service of Hull, shall have, from this Day, Half a Crown per Diem allowed them, each Man, for his Service there, till this House take farther Order therein.

Affairs at Yorke, &c.

A Letter from Yorke, of the Eight-and-twentieth of this Instant Month, from the Committee there; and his Majesty's Answer to the Petition and Votes of both Houses, presented to his Majesty at Yorke the Three-and-twentieth of May; and a Proclamation, of the Seven-and-twentieth of this Month, concerning the Militia; and a Paper of Summons, of the same Date, summoning all the Ministers, Freeholders, Farmers, and substantial Copyholders, of the County of Yorke, to meet at Howorth Moor, on Friday next; were all read.

Declaration in Answer to the King.

Mr. Glyn, Mr. Fienis, Mr. Pym, Sir Arth. Haselrig, Mr. Hampden, Mr. Marten.

This Committee is to prepare a Declaration, that may shew how dangerously the Privileges of Parliament have been broken of late, even at this time when the King professeth to rule by Law; and the dangerous Consequences of these Breaches; and likewise to prepare an Answer to the Declaration published in Answer to the Petition and Votes of both Houses, presented to his Majesty Maii 23°, concerning the Disbanding of his Guard; and to the Proclamation, of the Seven-and-twentieth of this instant May; and to bring it in To-morrow Morning.

Removing Magazine from Hull.

The Captains of the Ships that wafted and convoyed the Four Ships that brought the Magazine from Hull, were called in; and informed the House, that the Magazine was safe come up, and lay in the Four Ships at St. Katharine's; and that they had put Five-and-thirty Men aboard of them, for the better Safeguard of them: And that they had delivered the Inventory of all the Arms and Ammunition to the Lord Admiral; and do desire, that this House would take some Order in Discharge of those Men, that they have put aboard these .... that they may return to their Ships, which are in Tilbury Hope.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Captains of these Two Ships shall be called in: And that Mr. Speaker shall return them hearty Thanks from the House; and acquaint them how acceptable and good Service they have done herein to the Commonwealth; and that the House in due Time, will take them into a farther Consideration.

Resolved, upon the Question, That something shall be given to the Two Ship Companies that wafted and convoyed the Magazine from Hull.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Forty Pounds shall be given to the Two Ship Companies aforesaid.

The Captains were called in: And Mr. Speaker, according to the Vote, returned them Thanks; and likewise acquainted them, that the House had ordered Forty Pounds to be put into their Hands, to be disposed among their Ship Companies.

Ordered, That Sir Ro. Pye, and Mr. Wheeler, shall pay into the Hands of the Captains of the Ships that convoyed the Magazine from Hull, Forty Pounds, to be disposed of among the Ship Companies of the said Two Ships.

Ordered, That Sir H. Vane junior, and Mr. Dowse, do go to the Lord Admiral, to desire him to discharge the Men that are put aboard the Ships that have brought up the Magazine from Hull; and to take care that those Ships may be carefully guarded till they be unladen.

Resolved, upon the Question, That these Arms and Ammunition now brought from Hull, shall be forthwith unladen and put up in the Tower, under the Charge of the Officers of the Ordnance.

Conference.

A Message from the Lords, by the Master of the Rolls and Doctor Aylett;

The Lords desire a present Conference, by Committees of both Houses, concerning certain Demands to be presented unto his Majesty from both Houses; and touching the safe Arrival of the Magazine from Hull.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has taken their Lordships Message into Consideration; and is resolved to give a present Meeting, as is desired.

Mr. Hollis, Mr. Glyn, Mr. Lisle, Sir Tho. Widdrington, are appointed Reporters of this Conference.

Raising Forces for Ireland.

Whereas the Forces of Horse and Foot Volunteers which shall be sent over into Ireland, by Force of an Act made this present Session of Parliament, intituled, An Act for the speedy and effectual Reducing of the Rebels in his Majesty's Kingdom of Ireland, to their due Obedience to his Majesty and the Crown of England, may by virtue of the same Act be raised by the Direction of the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled: It is therefore Ordered, by the said Lords and Commons, That additional Forces of One thousand Soldiers, Volunteers, besides Officers, shall and may be forthwith raised for the aforesaid Expedition; and that for the better effecting thereof, the several Commanders hereafter named, viz. the Right honourable Robert Lord Brooke Baron of Beauchamp Commander in Chief, the Right honourable Alexander Lord Forbies Baron of Castle Forbies, John Humfreyes Serjeant Major, Captain * Beaton, Captain Nicolas Crispe, Captain Wm. Weldon, Captain Hugh Price, Captain Wm. Hull, Captain * Long, Captain John Anderson, and their several Lieutenants, Ensigns, and other Officers, shall and may have Liberty to beat up Drums in all Places within the Kingdom of England, and Dominion of Wales; and thereby, or otherwise, to raise and levy so many Soldiers Volunteers, as shall suffice to make up unto every of the said Captains, One complete Company of One hundred Foot, besides Officers, to be employed in the aforesaid Service.

Ordered, That Mr. Cromwell shall carry up this Order to the Lords, to desire their Concurrence therein.

Letters, &c. from Yorke.

Ordered, That the House, so soon as they return from the Conference, shall take into farther Consideration the Letter and Papers inclosed, that came this Day from the Committee at Yorke.

Ogle's Petition.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of Gerard Ogle, Gentleman, complaining of a Breach of a Privilege, be referred to the Committee where Mr. Corbett has the Chair.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Adrian May, be summoned forthwith to attend this House.

Crown Jewels.

That Mr. Serjeant Wilde, * Reynolds, * Glyn, * Erle, * Pym, do presently withdraw, to prepare a Declaration upon the whole Matter of the Information this Day given, concerning the Pawning of the Crown Jewels, and the Returning of the Monies that is borrowed upon them, according to the Sense and Debate of the House in this Subject.

Person committed at Hull.

Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Lords, to desire them to join with this House, to send unto the Committees, to know upon what Ground One of the Ensigns of Hull is committed; and if they shall find that he is committed for being in Service at Hull, that they shall declare unto his Majesty, in the Name of both Houses, That it is an Act of Hostility against the Parliament, and the Kingdom.-Referred to the Committee.

Members at Yorke.

That an Order be sent unto the Committees at Yorke to enable them to require the Members of this House to return to their Duty and Service they owe to this House; and that they return a List of the Names of such Members as are there: And do Declare, That their Going away in this Manner at this Time, and their Continuing there, is a great Affront to the House, and a Countenancing of the War intended against the Parliament.-Referred to the Committee.

Militia.

The Lord Gray went up to the Lords with the Message concerning the putting forthwith in Execution the Militia in Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, and Derbyshire.

Letter, &c. from Yorke.

He likewise carried up the Letter from the Committee at Yorke, and the Declaration and Proclamation inclosed.

Proceedings concerning Porter, &c.

The Question was proposed, Whether Mr. Porter and Mr. Ashburnham shall be adjudged Delinquents:

And then the Question was put, Whether this Question should be now put: And

It passed with the Negative.

Members at Yorke.

Resolved, That all the Members of this House that are gone to Yorke, or into Yorkeshire, except the Committees of the House, and Mr. Hoyle, shall be summoned forthwith to attend the House.

Crown Jewels.

An Order concerning the Payment of the Monies borrowed upon the Crown Jewels, be re-committed to the same Committee.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech and Dr. Aylett;

The Lords have commanded us to deliver unto you a Letter which was directed to the Speaker of their House; and a Message inclosed, commanded to be communicated to both Houses.

Warwickshire Militia.

Mr. Purefroy has Leave to go into the Country, to take care for the Execution of the Ordinance of the Militia in Warwickshire.

Barkeshire Militia.

Mr. Marten has Leave to go into Barkeshire, to see the Ordinance of the Militia put in Execution in that County.

Bill of Subscriptions.

Mr. Serjeant Wilde, Mr. Glyn, Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Rigby, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Peard, Sir Tho. Barrington, Mr. Cromwell, Mr. Corbett, are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Court of Wards, upon the Bill of Subscriptions.

Conference.

Ordered, That the Report of the Conference, this Day had with the Lords, be made To-morrow Morning, at Eight of Clock.

Committee of Contribution.

That it be propounded, To-morrow Morning, to the House, to take off the Order of Restraint that lies upon the Committee of Contribution.

Officers Pay.

Ordered, That Sixteen hundred Pounds shall be paid unto those Officers, (a List of whose Names was presented to the House on Saturday last) out of the first Monies that shall come in out of the County of Essex, upon the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds; the which Monies are to be paid to Sir Wm. Uvedale, by the Treasurers at London, appointed to receive the same; and he to pay it to the several Officers, according to the Rates certified to be due.

Savoye Lecturer.

That Mr. Tho. Gibbs shall be recommended to the Savoye to be a Lecturer there, at the Request of the Parishioners: And that the Doctor there be required to suffer . . . . Lecturer there accordingly.

List of Officers.

Ordered, That the List of the Officers, presented from the Committee at London, be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning.

Assembly of Divines.

Ordered, That the Report of the Bill for calling an Assembly of Divines be resumed To-morrow Morning.

Subscriptions.

Ordered, That the Bill for Inlargement of the Time of Subscriptions be reported To-morrow Morning.

Payment to Nelson, &c.

Ordered, That Mr. Wheeler shall forthwith pay, by way of Advance, to Robert Nelson, Thomas Hummieborne, John Grant, and Benjamin Webster, a Month's Wages, being Fourteen Pounds: And that he shall be repaid the said Sum out of the first Monies that shall be ordered to be paid unto Sir Jo. Hotham.

Ordered, That these Four Gunners shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant for their free Passage to Hull: And that they shall have a Letter to Sir Jo. Hotham for their Payment; and also for Payment of their Wages agreed upon, after the Rate of Two Shillings Six-pence per Diem: And that, in case they be maimed, they shall be provided for as his Majesty's Gunners in like case are.

Ordered, That Mr. Pym shall write this Letter to Sir Jo. Hotham.
