PRAYERS.

Committees added.

MR. Coke, Mr. Ellis, Sir Geo. Dalston, Sir Gilbert Gerrard, are added to the Committee for Mr. Borlacy and Mr. Hobby: And this Committee, now sine die, is to meet To-morrow at Two of Clock in the Afternoon, in the Exchequer-court.

Poole's Business.

The Sub-committee, for Mr. Poole's Business, is made a select Committee, from this House; with the Addition of Sir Gilbert Gerrard, Mr. Stevens, Mr. Dutton, Mr. Young, Mr. Paulwheele; and with Power to assign and hear Counsel; and to receive all Petitions, that may have Relation to this Business.

Clayton's Petition.

The Petition of John Clayton, Counsellor at Law, read; and referred to the Committee for Deputy Lieutenants.

Complaint against Georges.

The whole Matter concerning Mr. Jo. Georges, a Member of this House, is re-committed to the same Committee, formerly appointed to examine the Complaint, exhibited here, against the said Mr. George; with Power to send for the Patent of Conservacy, and the Patent for Amerciaments; and are to deliver their Opinions to the House, upon the whole Matter; And they are likewise to take into Consideration all Patents and Commissions whatsoever, concerning the pretended Conservacy of Waters: And are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, at Two of Clock in the Exchequer-court: And there are added to this Committee Sir Tho. Widdrington, Mr. Cage, Sir Edmund Mountfort, Mr. Whittlock, Mr. Hill, Mr. Palmer, Sir Robert Pye, Sir Tho. Barrington, Mr. Hodges, Sir Ch. Wray, Mr. Maynard, Sir A. Ingram, Mr. White, Sir Jo. Bramber Election.

Mr. Maynard reports from the Committee for Privileges, the Case of Bramber in Sussex:

Upon this Report, it was

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Election of Sir Edw. Bishopp, for One of the Burgesses for the Borough of Bramber in Sussex, is void:

That the Election of Mr. Anslow, for One of the Burgesses for the Borough of Bramber, is likewise void:

That Sir Edw. Bishopp is uncapable of any Election, to be a Member of this House, for this Parliament.

Ordered, A Warrant to issue forth, under Mr. Speaker's Hand, directed to the Clerk of the Crown, for a new Writ for a new Election of a Burgess, to serve in this present Parliament for the said Town of Bramber.

Person sent for.

Ordered, That John Bramsden, for his Abuses offered, in his Answers, to the Committee for Privileges, be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent, by the Serjeant at Arms attending on this House.

Mauleverer's, &c. Petition.

The Petition of Mr. Mauleverer, and Mr. Moyser, is referred to the Committee, that is appointed to prepare the Charge against the Lord Keeper, and the Judges.

Committees to meet.

The Committee for the King's Army, and the Committee for the Bill of Subsidies, are to meet this Afterternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Exchequer-court.

Subsidies.

The Burgesses for London are intreated to acquaint the City, from this House, that this House doth intend, with all the Speed and Care they can, the Expediting of the Bill of Subsidies.

Treaty with Scotland.

A Message from the Lords, by the Two Chief Justices;

The Lords do desire a Conference presently, in the Painted Chamber, if it may stand with the Convenience of this House, by a Committee of both Houses, touching the Treaty of the weighty Affairs with the Scots.

Answer returned, by the same Messengers, that this House has taken into Consideration the Message from the Lords; and they are now in the Debate of a great Business; and will send Answer, by Messengers of their own, in convenient Time.

Ecclesiastical Canons, &c.

Resolved, upon the Question, Nullo contradicente, That these Canons and Constitutions Ecclesiastical treated upon by the Archbishops of Cant' and Yorke, Presidents of the Convocations for the respective Provinces of Cant' and Yorke, and the rest of the Bishops and Clergy of those Provinces, and agreed upon, with the King's Majesty's Licence, in their several Synods, begun at London and Yorke, in the Year 1640, do contain in them many Matters contrary to the King's Prerogative, to the fundamental Laws and Statutes of the Realm, to the Right of Parliaments, to the Property and Liberty of the Subjects, and Matters tending to Sedition, and of dangerous consequence.

Resolved, upon the Question, Nullo contradicente, That the several Grants of the Benevolence, or Contribution, granted to his most Excellent Majesty, by the Clergy of the Provinces of Cant' and Yorke, in the several Convocations, or Synods, holden at London and Yorke, Anno Domini, 1640, are contrary to the Laws, and ought not to bind the Clergy.

Litton, Sir Gilbert Gerrard, Sir Hugh Cholmeley, Sir Oliver Luke, Mr. Perd, Sir Ro. Howard, Mr. Coke, Mr. White, Mr. Rigby, Sir Tho. Widrington, Mr. Palmer, Mr. Maynard, Mr. Whistler, Mr. Pelham, Mr. St. Johns, Mr. Rogers, Mr. Whitlock, Mr. Weston;

This Committee is to prepare the several Votes concerning the new Canons, and to make them ready for this House, to present the same to the Lords; and to consider and examine who were the Promoters of these new Canons, and who the principal Actors; and what Execution has been made upon them, and by whom; and to consider how far, in particular, the Lord Archbishop of Cant' has been an Actor in all the Proceedings of them; and farther, to examine, how far he has been an Actor in the great Design of the Subversion of the Laws of the Realm, and of the Religion; and to prepare and draw up a Charge against Him, and such others, as shall appear Offenders in these Particulars: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Books, Records, and to do any other Act, which they, in their Judgments, shall think fit, to conduce to this Business; and are to meet this Afternoon, at Four of Clock, in the Starchamber.
