Custom on foreign Goods.

SIR H. Vane is to go up with a Message to the Lords, concerning the Freeing foreign Goods from Subsidy and Custom, that are, imported, when they are exported again within a Year.

Money for Calve-skins.

Whereas, by a former Order, the Money that the Calves-skins were sold for was ordered to be paid into the Chamber of London: It is now Ordered, That the said Monies should be paid into the Office of the King's Remembrancer.

Hertford Petition.

The humble Petition of divers of the Freeholders of the County of Hertford, whose Names are under-written, was read:

And John Finch and Nich. Colborne were called in; and did avow the Petition; and affirmed, that they had Warrant from the greatest Part of the Freeholders of that County, to deliver this Petition.

American and African Trade.

Colepeper and Mr. Pym.

Letters from the King.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Ro. Rich and Mr. Page;

The Lords desire a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, presently, in the Painted Chamber, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House, concerning Letters sent from his Majesty to Mr. Nicholas, touching the Petition and Commission sent to his Majesty.

Answer returned by the same Messengers;

The House has taken into Consideration their Lordships Message; and, with all convenient Speed, will return Answer by Messengers * *.

Sir H. Vane went up to the Lords to acquaint them, that this House is ready to give a Meeting, as was desired by their Lordships: And to desire, that, at the same Conference, something may be made known to their Lordships, that this House has received from his Majesty.

And the Transmission of Sir Jo. Corbett's Cause was likewise delivered at this Conference.

Poor Tradesmen, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to consider of the Petition of the poor Tradesmen and Artificers shall sit, to consider of that Business, on the First Thursday in Michaelmas Term, in the Star-chamber.

Protection to prosecute Petition.

Ordered, That Lieutenant Christ. Crowe, who has a Petition depending here, and was arrested upon a mean Process, coming to the House to prosecute his Petition, shall be forthwith discharged from the said Arrest; and that the rest of the Reformado Officers, who have a Petition depending here, shall be free to go and come, while their Petition is depending here, and till their Money due unto them be paid, as it is ordered upon their Petition.

Reformado Officers.

Whereas it was ordered, on Saturday last, that the Reformado Officers, from the Captain upwards, should not be paid till the Army be disbanded; the House, considering the Occasions of Lieutenant Colonel Edward Aldrich, Lieutenant Colonel Borlacy, Serjeant and Major Tho. Shirley, have Ordered, That the foresaid Three Officers shall, notwithstanding the former Order, be forthwith paid their Pay due unto them.

Prisoners.

That the Committee for the Prisoners do meet this Afternoon, at Two post meridiem, in the Court of Wards: And all, that will come, are to have Voices.

Adjournment.

The Lords desire a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, presently, in the Painted Chamber, if it may stand with the conveniency of this House, concerning an Adjournment till Monday next.

Answer returned, by the same Messengers; that this House has taken their Lordships Message into Consideration; and will give a present Meeting, as is desired.

Publick Thanksgiving.

According to the Act of this present Parliament, for Confirmation of the Treaty of Pacification between the Two Kingdoms of England and Scotland; where it was desired by the Commissioners of Scotland, that the Loyalty and faithfulness of his Majesty's Subjects might be made known, at the time of publick Thanksgiving, in all Places, particularly in all Parish Churches of his Majesty's Dominions: Which Request was graciously condescended unto by his Majesty, and confirmed by the said Act: It is now Ordered and Commanded, by both Houses of Parliament, That the same be effectually done, in all Parish Churches throughout this Kingdom, upon Tuesday the Seventh Day of Sept. next coming, at the Time of publick Thanksgiving, by the several and respective Ministers of each Parish Church, or by their Curates; who are hereby required to read this present Order in the Church.

Custom on foreign Goods.

Sir H. Vane brings Answer, that their Lordships has taken the Message from this House into Consideration; and does freely assent to join with this House, in the Propositions made concerning the Freeing of foreign Goods imported from Custom and Subsidy, when they are exported within a Year.

Publick Thanksgiving.

Sir Tho. Barrington is to go up to the Lords, to desire a Conference, concerning some Circumstances touching he Day of publick Thanksgiving.

Sir Tho. Barrington brings Answer, that their Lordships will give a present Meeting, as is desired.

The Reporters of the former Conference are likewise appointed Managers of this.

Preachers appointed.

Mr. Marshall, Mr. Boroughs, are to be desired to preach on the 7th of Sept. at St. Margaret's Church, before the Members of the House of Commons.

Cope's Petition.

Ordered, That Mr. Cope's Petition shall be read this Afternoon, at the Committee for Irish Affairs; and Proceedings be ordered upon it, according to Course.

Reformado Officers.

Whereas it was formerly ordered by this House, that certain Reformado Officers, of his Majesty's Army, should be paid One Month's Pay, out of the Receipt of Sir Ro. Pye, and Mr. Wheeler: It is now this Day Ordered, That the said Sir Robert Pye and Mr. Wheeler shall deliver, out of the Monies remaining in their Charge, the Sum of Five hundred Pounds, unto Mr. John Pay, Deputy to Sir Wm. Uvedale, towards the Payment of the said Reformado Officers; and that the said Mr. John Paye shall receive Five hundred Pounds more from the Chamber of London; being Five hundred Pounds lent unto this House by Mr. Spurstow, a Member of this House; who is to be repaid the said Five hundred Pounds, out of the first Monies that shall come in of the Poll-money. And it is further ordered, That as Money shall come in unto the Chamber of London, the Treasurers there shall deliver unto the said Mr. John Pay the Sum of One thousand Pounds more, for the Payment of the said Reformado Officers. And it is lastly ordered, That the Acquittance of the said Mr. John Pay shall be a sufficient Discharge unto the said Sir Robert Py and Mr. Wheeler; and likewise unto the Treasurers in the City of London, for the Issuing of the same. It is further ordered, That Mr. Pay shall pay these Reformado Officers, according to the List delivered unto this House by Sir John Hotham, and subscribed with his own Hand. And it is further ordered, That all such of these Reformado Officers mentioned in the List, that were upon their Cashiering preferred into the Army, and have been since in Pay, are not by this Order to be paid.

Message from Lords.

That their Lordships Intention was to adjourn till this Day Sevennight; and would know, if the Occasions of this House should desire their Sitting, they would sit this Afternoon at Five of Clock.

He likewise delivered the Order desired to be added to the Order for the publick Thanksgiving; which the Lords assented unto; and would give Order it should be printed.

Ordered, That the House shall sit this Afternoon at Four of Clock.

Thanksgiving.

Mr. Pym went up to the Lords, to acquaint them, that this House intends to sit this Afternoon at Four of Clock; and to desire their Lordships would be pleased to sit this Afternoon; and to desire, that their Lordships would take some care for the expeditious Dispersing of the Ordinance for the Celebrating of the public Thanksgiving.

Salt-petre Mines.

Mr. Hollis reports the Conference had with the Lords the last Week, concerning the Preservation of the Mines of Salt-petre * * * *

Answer from Lords.

Mr. Pym brings Answer, that their Lordships will sit this Afternoon at Four of Clock; and that they will take the most expeditious Care they can, for the Sending of the Ordinances for the Day of Thanksgiving to the Sheriffs, and for the Dispersing of it all other ways they can; and have, to that End, sent the Addition desired to be added to that Ordinance, to be forthwith printed.

Salt-petre Mines.

The House doth consent to the appointing of a Committee, to receive such Propositions as shall be propounded by the Committee of the Lords, for the Preservation of the Mines of Salt-petre.

Disarming Recusants.

Mr. Serjeant Wilde is ordered to carry up the Ordinance for disarming of Recusants to the Lords.

Carlell, &c. Garisons.

Sir Robert Pye, Mr. Wheeler, and Mr. Scawen, are to meet this Afternoon; and have Power to call before them the Paymasters of Carlell and Berwick; and to examine and consider of the State of the Accounts of those Garisons; and to report them to the House To-morrow.

Wapping Parish.

2da vice lecta est Billa, AN Act for making Wapping Chapel parochial; and, upon Question, committed unto the Committee for St. Andrewes, Holborne: And are to meet upon it the Tenth of Nov. in the Starchamber.

Salt Patents.

Ordered, That the Exceptions against the Defalcations of the first and second Patentees, and their Associates, of the Privy Seal for Salt, be referred to the Committee for the Customers: And are to meet upon it the 6th of Nov. next, in the Exchequer-court.

Relief of Creditors, &c.

1^a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the general Relief of Creditors; and for the Relief of such Debtors as are not able to satisfy; and upon Question, rejected.

Cripplegate Parish.

2da vice lecta est Billa, An Act for dividing the Parish of St. Giles', Cripplegate; and, upon Question, committed unto the Committee for St. Andrewes, Holbourne: And are to meet upon it on the 27 of Oct. in the Star-chamber.

Finsbury Church.

2da vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the Erecting of a Parish Church in Finsbury, in the County of Midd'; upon Question, committed unto the Committee for St. Andrewes Holbourne: And are to meet on the 27 of Oct. in the Star-chamber.

Disarming Recusants.

Sir Ro. Harley went up to the Lords with this Message;

To desire a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, so soon as may stand with their Lordships Conveniency, touching the Disarming of Popish Recusants.

Sir Ro. Harley brings Answer, that their Lordships will give a present Meeting, as is desired.

Ditto.

Serjeant Wilde (as he was formerly appointed) carried up the Ordinance concerning the Disarming of Recusants. And Sir.. Vane was adjoined to him as Assistant.

Communion ndash; tables.

Ordered, That a Consideration, concerning the Rails, and the Communion-table, shall be moved, and taken into Debate, To-morrow-morning.

Conference with Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Ro. Rich and Mr. Page;

The Lords desire a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, presently, in the Painted Chamber, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House: It is concerning Letters they have received from my Lord General; which they intend to communicate at the same Conference desired by this House.

Answer returned by the same Messengers;

This House has taken their Lordships Message into Consideration; and will give a present Meeting, as is desired.

Mr. Pym reports, that the Lords had taken time to consider of the Ordinance for disarming Recusants; and they have received a Letter from the Lord General, which was communicated by them at this Conference; and read here, and ordered to be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning.

Mr. Griffith was appointed to go up to the Lords; to acquaint them, that this House intends to sit To-morrow; and to desire their Lordships, upon important Considerations that concern the Kingdom, that they would be pleased to sit To-morrow.

Ordered, That the Report now made by Serjeant Wilde, concerning the Officers of the Ordnance; and the Votes concerning the Court at Yorke; be resumed To-morrow Morning.
