PRAYERS .
Recusants Estates.
THAT the Committee concerning Two Parts of Recusants Lands sit this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Court of Wards.
Lessening Committees, &c.
Ordered, That the Committee for lessening Committees sit on Monday in the Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Court of Wards: And that the several Chairmen acquaint them, what Reports they have in their Hands; that the Committee may report to the House, what Reports they think fit to be made.
Renewing Committees.
That none shall move to have any Committee renewed, till after Nine of Clock.
Recusants.
Mr. Whittaker reports from the Committee concerning Recusants convict:
Four whole Recusants.
Half Recusants-Sir Edw. Yates, Doctor Moore, Godfrey, a Priest: 1. Not received the Communion these Thirty Years; nor heard Mass these One-and-thirty Years;-took the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy: Doctor Moore took the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy; but goes not to Church. Godfrey took the Oaths; and will renounce the Church of Rome, and abjure the Orders.
Sir John Wintour took the Oath of Allegiance; and takes time till Monday to take the Oath of Supremacy.
Abettors of Recusants, - the Lady Roper Danston, the Vicar of Camberwell; where they inquired for one Walley, a Priest.
That the Committee appointed to prepare a Bill for Fining of such Recusants as have stayed in Town contrary to the Proclamation, shall take into Consideration, to insert a Clause into the Bill for the Prohibiting and Restraining Popish Recusants to practice Physick or Surgery in and about the City of London.
Leave of Absence.
Mr. Stevens has Leave to go into the Country for Recovery of his Health.
Peers, &c. Recusants.
That the Order made in the Lords House, Martis 15° Die Decembris, 1640, concerning the Indictment of Peers, Members of the Lords House, their Wives, Children, and menial Servants, for Recusants, was this Day read; and referred to the Committee for Protections; to consider of it; and to report to the House, what is fit to be done upon it.
Persons sent for.
Ordered, That Harper be sent for, as a Delinquent, by the Serjeant at Arms attending on this House: And the Examination of * * is referred to the Consideration of the Committee for Printing.
Printing.
Walkeley, Williams, Eglesfield, Sheeres, and Oaks, * *
Ordered, That the Master and Wardens of the Company of Stationers shall be authorized to take the best Course they can to suppress, and hinder, and, * * this Licence of Printing: And to inform this House, upon all Occasions, what Books, Pamphlets, and Speeches, are printed; and to use the best Means they can for the Preventing and Suppressing of them.
Lay Preachers.
Ordered, That one Robinson, a Servant and Clerk in the Custom-house, who preached for Mr. Crabtree, in his Pulpit; John Spencer, who preached often publickly, being but a Horseman: Adam Bankes, lately a Seller of Stockings, and now a Shopkeeper near the Old Exchange; John Durant, who preached privately; one Greene, who preacheth privately in the House of one Mr. Greene in Cruchett Fryers: shall be summoned to attend the House on Monday, in the Afternoon, at Two of Clock.
House to sit.
Ordered, That the House shall sit on Tuesday, at Two of Clock, in the Afternoon: And that the Report from the close Committee shall be then made.
Person to attend.
Benion to be summoned to be at the Committee appointed to treat with Persons for Lending of Monies, on Monday Morning, at Six of Clock, in the Star-chamber; and to bring with him some of those Persons as have petitioned this House, concerning Protections.
Charge against Bp. of Canterbury.
Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Glyn, Mr. Selden, Mr. Vaughan, Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Maynard, Sir Tho. Widdrington, Mr. Perd, Mr. Rigby, Mr. White, Mr. Hampden, Mr. Whitlocke:
This Committee, setting all other Business aside, is to take care for the Expediting of the Charge against the Bishop of Cant': And are to meet on Monday at Two of Clock, post meridiem, in the Treasury-chamber.
Rates of Taxes.
Resolved, upon the Question, That such as shall be rated for the Raising of the Four hundred thousand Pounds, shall be rated, in the several Places in every County, where his or their Estate lieth, proportionable to his or their Estates in those Places, according to the Discretion of the Commissioners.
Resolved, upon the Question, That the Committee shall not be bound by this Vote; viz. "that the Four hundred thousand Pounds, agreed on, shall be raised by way of Subsidy."
Ecclesiastical Canons.
Ordered, That the Votes upon the new Canons shall be transmitted to the Lords on Monday, post meridiem: And that, on Monday Morning, a Message be sent to the Lords, to desire them to sit in the Afternoon.
Comm of Taxes.
Ordered, That such as were Commissioners, and have abated themselves in the Taxing of the last Subsidies, shall be no more Commissioners: And that the Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses, of the several Counties, Cities, and Boroughs, shall meet together, and agree upon a convenient Number of Commissioners; and name such as they shall know to be fit Persons to be intrusted in this Service; and present the Names agreed upon, under their Hands, on Tuesday Morning.
Rates of Taxes.
By Resolution, upon the Question, this House doth order and declare, that the Boroughs and Cities, which are not Counties, but lie within the Body of the County, shall be cast into the several Counties where they lie, to be rated with those Counties.
Subsidies.
Ordered, That the Grand Committee of the whole House shall meet this Afternoon, at Three of Clock, to sit upon the Bill of Subsidies.
