PRAYERS.

Agmondesham Writ.

ORDERED, That a Warrant issue forth, under Mr. Speaker's Hand, directed to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, for a new Writ, for Electing of a Burgess to serve in this Parliament for the Town of Agmondesham in Com' Buck', in the Stead of William Cheyney, formerly returned to serve for that Place, and since deceased.

Regaurd's Nat.

Persons sent for.

Ordered, That Sir Basil Brooke and Sir Tobit Matthew be forthwith sent for, as Delinquents, by the Serjeant at Arms attending on this House; to answer their Contempts, in not appearing upon the Summons of this House; and to answer such other Matters, as shall be objected against them here.

Andevor Election.

Ordered, That the Petition of Sir Wm. Waller, preferred to this House, concerning the Election of a Burgess for the Town of Andevor, and the whole Matter of that Election, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee for Sir Lewis Dive.

Kirke's Nat.

2da vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the Naturalizing of John Kirke, James Kirke, and Mary Kirke now the wife of Wm. West, and Children of Jervase Kirke of London Merchant, deceased; upon Question, committed unto the Committee for De Vischer, & Hern, & al.

Reformado Officers.

Ordered, That those English Reformado Officers, that have petitioned this House, shall have a Month's Pay paid unto them, upon the first Monies that Sir Wm. Uvedale shall receive.

State of the Kingdom.

Ordered, That the Remonstrance of the State of the Kingdom, and the Petition, be reported To-morrow.

Ecclesiastical Canons.

Ordered, That the Votes upon the Canons be carried up to the Lords, at a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses.

Mr. Maynard, Mr. Bagshawe, Mr. Prideaux, and Mr. Hill, are to go up with them, and to manage the Conference; and are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, in the Inner Court of Wards, at Two of Clock, to prepare them against Monday, if they can.

The Gospel.

Ordered, That the Committee, for the more free Passage of the Gospel, do meet To-morrow at Two of Clock post meridiem.

Subsidies.

Ordered, That the House be resolved into a Committee, to consider of the Bill of Subsidies.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this Bill, as to the Matter of Certificate, shall stand as it doth.

This Committee is to prepare and draw Instructions, to be directed unto the Commissioners for the Upholding of the Subsidies to a higher Proportion than now it is; and for the just Assessing of them; and to present them to the House for Allowance: And are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon at Two post meridiem, in the Star-chamber: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records, or any thing else, that shall be necessary for this Service.

Deans and Chapters.

Ordered, That the Business concerning Deans and Chapters shall be debated on Friday next at Nine in the Morning: And that, if those Divines, that have petitioned to be heard on their Behalf, shall come, they shall be heard; otherwise they are concluded for any further Time: And that, at the same time, such of those Ministers, that have preferred a Petition and Remonstrance to this House, if they will, shall be present.

Speeches on Trial of E. of Straford.

Ordered, That Mr. Solicitor be required from this House to bring in a perfect Copy of his Argument Yesterday in Westminster-hall: And likewise, that Mr. Pymm bring in a Copy of his Speeches, spoken by him in Westminster-hall, both at the Beginning and latter End of the Trial of the Earl of Straford.

King's Speech reported.

Mr. Speaker reports the King's Speech, in Whitehall, on Wednesday last at Two post meridiem:

My Lords, and Gentlemen,

Having considered your Three Desires, I give you this short and clear Answer:

1. Concerning Removal of Papists from Court; I am confident, you know very well what legal Trust the Crown hath in this Particular: Therefore I shall only need to-assure you, that I shall govern it so, that there shall be no just Cause of Scandal.

2. I am contented, that the Papists be disarmed, according to Law.

3. For the Irish Army; you must understand, that I am already upon Disbanding of them; but find many Difficulties in the Way of doing it: Therefore it is not only requisite to wish it, but to shew the Way how it shall be done: And therefore, in this, I shall not be unwilling to have your Advice and Assistance.

But this is not all that I desire; for I do wish; that the same Peace and Tranquillity be restored in my Dominions, which my Father, of happy Memory, left me: And, to that End, I desire you, according to that Duty which you owe to God and the Country, that you concur with me, for the speedy Disbanding of the Two other Armies, that are in England: To which End, there are Two things requisite; Money, and the Conclusion of the Scotts Treaty.

I am sure you are Masters of the One; and with me, you are Judges of the other; this being a fitting Time, for me to put you in mind of it, because you have now all the Treaty before you: Assuring you, that none of you shall shew more Industry and Willingness, for the Settling of all things, in a peaceable Way, than myself.
