2da vice lecta AN Act for the Settling of the Rectory est Billa, Impropriate of Wolstanton, in the County of Stafford, upon Ralph Sneyde Esquire, and his Heirs, for ever, &c; upon Question, committed unto Mr. Wheeler, Sir Symonds D'Ewes, Sir Walter Erle, Mr. Mallory, Mr. Moore, Mr. Shuttleworth, Mr. Grimston, Sir Christopher Wray, Mr. Purefrey, Mr. Goodwin, Mr. * Moore, Mr. Buller, Sir Edw. Boyse, Mr. Bond, Mr. Ash, Mr. Hide, Mr. Glynn, Sir Edm. Fowell, Sir Hen. Bellingham, Sir Wm. Strickland, Sir Peter Wrothe, Sir Arthur Haslerigge, Mr. Nicholls, Mr. Cage, Sir Edw. Ascough, Mr. Law. Abuses in Elections.

2da vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the Reformation of Disorders and Abuses in the Election of Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses, of Parliament; upon Question, committed unto the same Committee as the former Bill of Elections is committed: And all that will come to have Voices: And are to meet on Wednesday next at Two post meridiem, in the Star-chamber.

Public Fast.

Mr. Rowse reports from the Committee for a Fast, the Motives, conceived by that Committee, for a Fast.

Resolved, upon the Question, That these Propositions following shall be the Heads of a Conference to be desired with the Lords, concerning a publick Fast:

1. That, notwithstanding our former Humiliation, many Dangers and Fears yet remain.

2. Small Progress in Affairs of Church or Commonwealth, after long and laborious Endeavours.

3. The Multitude of Evils, both in Church and Commonwealth, generally complained of; which require a great and general Humiliation.

4. The Averting of God's Judgments, justly due to us; and particularly threatened, in a contagious Sickness, now begun amongst us.

5. The obtaining of good Success in the Reformation of the Church, now generally desired and expected.

6. A happy and settled Peace and Union between the Two Kingdoms.

7. God's Blessing and Direction of his Majesty and the whole Parliament, in the great Affairs of Church and Commonwealth.

Sir Thomas Barrington is to go up to the Lords, to desire a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, concerning a public Fast: And Mr. Rowse to manage the Conference.

Impeachment of E. of Strafford.

Ordered, That Mr. Solicitor shall have power to send for such Records as he shall think to be needful for the Service committed unto him, for maintaining the Point of Law, in the Case of the Earl of Strafford.

Committee to keep the Doors.

The same Committee, as was formerly appointed to keep the Doors at Westminster-hall, is appointed to keep the Doors again To-morrow.

Mr. Solicitor, &c.

Mr. Solicitor, and the Two Gentlemen that are appointed Assistants unto him, are to sit in the most convenient Places, in the Middle of the lower Rank.

Earl of Strafford.

Mr. Hide went up to the Lords with this Message;

To acquaint their Lordships, that the House hath received such Information, as hath moved some Fears in them, that the Earl of Strafford may have a Design to escape; that he hath Ships at Sea, at Command; and that the Guard about him is weak: Therefore, to desire their Lordships he may be close Prisoner, and the Guard strengthened.

Mr. Hide brings this Answer; that their Lordships had heretofore given Directions to the Lieutenant of the Tower, that he should be close Prisoner, and have a Care for a strong Guard; and will take it into Examination; and give Directions, as is desired.

State of the Kingdom.

Ordered, That the Committee, for the Remonstrance of the State of the Kingdom, and the Petition, shall meet To-morrow at Two post meridiem, in the Inner Court of Wards: And the Gentleman that has the Chair at that Committee, is required to bring in the said Remonstrance and Petition on Friday Morning next.

Deans and Chapters.

Ordered, That those Divines, that desire to be heard concerning Deans and Chapters, shall be heard in this House on Friday next in the Afternoon, if they will come.

Turkish Pirates.

Disbanding the Army, &c.

The House, according to an Order of Yesterday, was resolved into a Committee, to debate the Business of Disbanding the Armies, Providing of Monies, and the Treaty between the Two Kingdoms.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair: And

Mr. Hide was called to the Chair.

Mr. Speaker reassumed the Chair.
