PRAYERS.

Disposition by Will in Wales.

MR. Brereton, according to Order, presented to the House a Bill to take away the Custom of Wales, which hinders Persons from disposing their personal Estates by their Wills.

The Bill was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

Dawson's Estate.

Mr. Pocklington reported from the Committee, to whom the ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act for vesting Part of the Estate of Joseph Dawson Esquire in Trustees, for Payment of Debts, and for Provision for the Maintenance and Marriage of his Daughters, was committed; and to whom the Consideration of the Petition of William Fowell was referred; That it did not appear to the Committee, That Mr. Fowell signed the Petition, or that it was presented by Order from him; and that Mr. Ash, who presented the same to the House, desired, if the House pleased, to have Leave to withdraw the said Petition.

Ordered, That the said Mr. Ash have Leave to withdraw the said Petition: And that the said Committee do proceed upon the said Bill.

Woollen Manufactures.

Sir Robert Davers reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for the Encouragement of the Woollen Manufactures of this Kingdom was committed, That they had made several Amendments to the Bill; which they had directed him to report to the House; and which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House; and other Amendments were made to the Bill.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Great Queen-street Estate.

Ordered, That Mr. Whitaker, Sir John Austin, Mr. Foley, Sir Tho. P. Blount, Mr. Moore, Colonel Granvill, Mr. Brewer, Sir Henry Colt, Mr. Blofeild, Mr. Tho. Foley junior, Mr. Cheney, Mr. Boyle, Sir Hen. Vane, Doctor Davenant, be added to the Committee, to whom the ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, for the better Improvement of a House and Grounds in Great Queen-street, is committed.

Select Vestries.

Ordered, That Mr. Vaughan, Sir John Bolles, Sir Godfrey Copley, Mr. Moore, Mr. Mawdit, Mr. Bertie, Mr. Whitaker, Mr. Foley, Sir Robert Davers, be added to the Committee, to whom the Bill for the Regulating of select Vestries, and preventing Abuses arising thereby, is committed.

Bristoll Hospitals, &c.

Mr. Blaake reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for the Erecting of Hospitals and Work-houses within the City of Bristoll, for the better employing and maintaining the Poor thereof, was committed, That they had made several Amendments to the Bill; which they had directed him to report to the House; and which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments be ingrossed.

Preventing Escapes.

Mr. Brewer reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for preventing Escapes; and better Security and Relief of Creditors; was committed; That they had made several Amendments to the Bill; which they had directed him to report to the House; and which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were read the First time.

Ordered, That the further Consideration of the said Report be adjourned until Thursday Morning next.

Raising Militia.

An ingrossed Bill for raising the Militia for the Year 1696, although the Month's Pay, formerly advanced, be not repaid, was read the Third time.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for raising the Militia of this Kingdom for the Year 1696, although the Month's Pay, formerly advanced, be not repaid.

Ordered, That the Lord Coningsby do carry the Bill to the Lords, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Supply Bill; Salt Duties and Land Bank.

A Bill for continuing unto his Majesty certain Rates and Duties upon Salt, for carrying on the War against France; and for taking off the Duties of Tonage upon Ships, and upon Coals; and for establishing a National Land-Bank; was, according to Order, read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time upon Wednesday Morning next.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Sir Thomas Roberts have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Mr. Nanny have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Sir William Wogan have Leave to go into the Country upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Sir William Morley have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Mr. Palmer have Leave to go into the Country, for Recovery of his Health.

Call of the House.

The Names of such Members were called over as were absent upon the last Call of the House:

And several of them being still absent in the Country, and ill in Town, who had not signed the Association; viz.

Colonel Gibson, being at Portsmouth; and having signified, That he will be speedily here, and sign the Association;

Ordered, That he be excused from attending the House.

And others being ill in Town, and in the Country, who had not signified their Intentions touching the same;

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do write to such Members as are in the Country, and have not signed the said Association, or declared their Refusal so to do, to know what they will do, and to return their Answer by the first Opportunity: And that the Clerk of the House do attend such Members as are ill in Town, with the said Association, in order to their signing the same, or receiving their Answer of Refusal: And that he do acquaint the House therewith.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees be revived.

Civil List.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Supply to be granted to his Majesty, towards the defraying the Expences of the Civil List, for the Year 1696; and for Relief of the poor French Protestants.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had come to several Resolutions; which they had directed him to report, when the House will please to receive the same.

Ordered, That the said Report be made To-morrow Morning.

Supply Bill: House Duty.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee of the whole House, to whom the Bill for granting several Rates, or Duties, upon Houses, for making good the Deficiency of the clipped Money, be made upon Wednesday Morning next.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
